That's not to diminish nestrasil either, Cuz he's not a bad third liner, he seems snake bitten too, and his positioning is pretty damn good too but Jurco seems like a larger part of our future than him, and if he develops good chemistry with helm then our third line could be dominate once he gets going.

Tonight on that wraparound attempt from helm, where Jurco drew the hooking call, they just played off each other really well...
But then again so did nestrasil, you can see him lurking up ready to jump in the play or fall back....theyre honestly not a bad checking line, they do a lot of good things together which will only get better the longer they're together.
Unfortunately they're not scoring, but Jurco hard in that sophomore slump, and being dominant in the ahl would probably do wonders for him.

Agreed. Man, that one sequence where Quick stood on his head... I would have loved to see one of them cash in. Totally agree that Jurco has a way higher ceiling... just need to get him going.

Quincey has played wellllllllllllll worth his contract so far.
It kind of sucks he went down.

If he is out, I would rather see XO come up and play over Lash.

With Mule coming back I would like to see this for 2 periods:

Guz - Z - Mule

Helm - Pav - Abby

Nesty - Sheahan - Tatar (I think Nesty is outplaying Jurco right now)

Andy - Glen, Glen-Glen-Glen - Miller

Kronner - Smith

E - Kindl

Then in the 3rd change the top 3 lines

Z - Pav - Abby (Abby is earning it)

Gus - Sheahan - Tatar (this line was hot tonight)

Mule - Helm - Nesty

One of the benefits of not having a lot of turnover is we can change up our lines and still have decent chemistry

That Gus-Z-Mule line is real

#2541653 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by matthewdanna on 17 October 2014 - 02:11 AM

This is all nonsense. Our team is good. Bruins and Ducks are 2 of best 5 teams in the league. And we are going toe to toe with them without 2 of our 5 highest paid players. We are going to be a good threat this year. Oddsmakers have us at 17-1.

It's not about honor it's about longterm success, getting ahead of an already better competition. Whoever gets McEichel will have a franchise player for at least a decade and a half.

This same strategy has worked out great for Edmonton

no honor in tanking

Jimmy had an awesome game.

Smith was out best defenseman (again)

Glendenning was noticeably good

Zetterberg was noticeable off

The Griffin line is going to keep on getting better.

I like where we are right now... now let's get Pavs on the ice!

#2540742 Fan turnout at last night's Panthers' game

Posted by matthewdanna on 15 October 2014 - 01:16 AM

Watched some on TV. Was seriously a joke, worse turnout I've ever seen at a major sporting event, including preseason games. It was just a sea of empty seats. Team obviously needs to be moved and rebranded. One hockey team for Florida is enough.

Here's what you do (Bettman)... move Florida to whichever Eastern Canadian city you want to grace with a team (Hamilton, Quebec City, etc.), redraw the divisions, and expand two teams.

My solution:

Metropolitan (almost all of these teams are near the Atlantic)--> Atlantic: Carolina, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Washington

Atlantic (only one team is actually on the Atlantic)--> Northeast: Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, ColumbusHamilton/Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto,

Midwest: Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, Saskatoon/Kansas City, St. Louis, Winnepeg

Pacific: Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Pheonix, San Jose, Seattle, Vancouver

How'd Nesty look?

Not too noticeable, but played hard... skated fine. No major mistakes and didn't fall down (Cleary). Need to see him play more.

Didn't watch it until midnight PST...

B.Smith = fricking awesome game. I don't even care about the penalty... thought he was right there with DD for 2nd star.

Franzen = badass... he did it all tonight. Give him credit.

Other than that... great energy in the 2nd and beginning of 3rd putting pressure on Boston. Ran out of gas at the end a little but, still a decent effort.

2 pts!

Babs is the best coach in the sport of hockey. He can name is price and term as far as I'm concerned.

#2533338 Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

MOST IMPORTANTLY... he ain't getting traded.

#2531445 Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Posted by matthewdanna on 11 July 2014 - 01:02 AM

So let's say we sign Alfie and with Jurco up we have 15 forwards... one too many.

If Cleary gets dramatically outplayed in camp, or a month into the season he just plain awful, we send him to GR, he passes through waivers and we eat $1.5M in cap space and we bring Jurco back up.

Someone gets hurt in camp and the point is moot to start the year...

Cleary turns water into wine, raises the dead, and [insert your own favorite cliche].

One or more of our forwards is/are getting traded

Maybe we have someone hurt the majority of the year, he's up on the big team, but is a healthy scratch most of the time... then he could be a like another coach/mentor for the young guys that are up.

Who knows what was actually said behind closed doors last year. If the DRW are just keeping their word on some deal they promised then they are doing the honorable thing. Now, I wouldn't have signed him last year in the first place, but I kinda look at it as if Holland signed him to a two year dear last year (cough Quincey this year)... The bell was already rung on this deal.

I'd still say that we have bigger fish to fry. I DO believe we need a RH D-man and that means trading one of our D-men at some point.

#2518682 Was Legwand worth it?

I honestly doubt that Calle would have cracked our lineup. We have a S-ton of centers.  The way I see it Sheahan > Jarnkrok

#2488412 Edler-Kesler Vs. Ehrhoff-Stewart

We aren't making a trade. We don't have expendable assets, it's that simple.
