#2529989 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

OR, he didn't want to trade Mantha + Jurco + Sproul + 1st for Yandle or Green.

See, I can be over-zealous too.

LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Nobody on these forums wants that trade.  What a lot of us DO want is for the manager to do something to actually improve the team.  But, apparently, mediocrity and status-quo are perfectly acceptable in the bowels of the JLA.

But if the options are trade a huge package for Handle or Myers, get a guy who is beat suited as a second pair guy, or nothing, then what should he do? Anything he does at that point will lead to Holland is a moron screaming

Kronwall Smith Kindl and most of the prospects ate puck movers. Pulk has little trade value because of his size speed and how he'd be viewed league wide. Tatar put up more points Datsyuk was still better his rookie year. Offer sheets are a waste of time.

#2529621 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

I appreciate the optimism, and yes, this team will make playoffs.  It's just that we didn't get any better.  And yes, Quincey will hurt us if he plays like he did the past few seasons.  Especially last year.  The guy single-handedly cost us double digit games.  If he plays solid, then obviously this is fine, but that's not his track record.

He did not cost the team double digit games single handedly.

Quincey for Green straight up.

Quincey isn't as bad as people say and he was one of the better guys available. He's still not worth close to that much. It's like going to the prom with your cousin so you don't have to go alone. The only way the D will improve now is if they trade Dekeyser, Ericsson, or Smith in a package for a legit top 4 guy and/or they move Kindl or Lashoff to make a spot for a rookie and use the guy who stays as the 7.

As I've stated in several threads, comments complaining about how fans are reaction will be deleted and will result in suspension.

Stay on topic.

Calling Holland a f---ing moron and all the other crap happening: OK. Saying settle doan that it's not the end of the world: threaten with suspension. Gotcha.

#2528814 2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Ever been? Ever wonder why there are many multimillionaires in the suburbs of Detroit? It's because no one lives in the damned city, the live in the suburbs which are considered some of the best places to live in the whole country.

Yes, but you're not being offered a contract to play for the Bloomfield Hills Red Wings.  They also want to live in places with thriving downtowns, and for the more business minded players, areas that have a lot of potential endorsement deals.  Warmer weather helps too.

I really hope this spurs KH to offer sheet Subban. Make the deal as rich and unmatchable as you can.

It's not like their are any negatives to doing so, nobody will sign with us and nobody will trade fairly with us now anyway.

And Montreal would call him and say thanks for doing the negotiating for us.  Offer sheets don't work.

Del Zotto would be a reasonable signing, if it was short term (preferable one year, no more than two) for around $2.5 mil per.  He's struggled recently, but that was under Tortorella and then trying to catch on under Trotz.  He might be worth a flier on a reclamation project.  But only if they move Kindl.

#2527609 Ehrhoff or Niskanen

Posted by DickieDunn on 01 July 2014 - 10:09 AM

Boyle for one year, fine. I won't really like it but whatever. 2 years, bad. Ehrhoff for what he'll get offered, also bad. I'd rather see them get Gilbert for 3 years than any of the other 3.

That's just when Captain Cut-n-Paste copies a St. Lame article. 80% of a Malik post is him copying a legit reporter.

She's definitely a hack, there's not doubt about that.

However, I think Malik's most annoying habit is how he pretends to have some special rapport with the Red Wings organization, and then gets all huffy puffy when people call him out for being a dude sitting at a computer.  He acts like he's a personal guest of the Holland family on all the high holidays.

Yeah, that and just plain making crap up. The last time I actually read his crap he said that Devellano said something and cut-n-pasted a Khan interview where Devellano said nothing remotely like that. When I blasted him for lying he said something to the effect of "you have to read between the lines, he meant what I said, not what he said."

George Malik ‏@georgemalik 21m
.@Mjurgh I call July 1st the "great disappointment" because even if KH signed everybody, Wings fans would still be upset.

Of course I'm disappointed when the Wings don't get the exact players I want.  I'm convinced of my own good judgement in these matters lol.  But I'm fully capable of settling for others, provided they're not 92 years old and clearly declining.

As for Malik...I loathe the guy.  He's the absolute definition of a company man.  I might put more stock in what he had to say if I hadn't spent the last 5 years reading him agree with every misstep Holland made, and then make excuses afterward as if Holland were a victim of fate and not a man who is clearly petrified by uncertainty.

#2527384 Wings to have face to face with Matt Niskanen

Posted by DickieDunn on 30 June 2014 - 08:11 PM

Niskanen is going to get a 7 year deal north of 42 million. Are you guys ok with that?

F*** no. And when he's a 35 point second pair guy the people who want him now will complain incessantly about his cap hit and term.

Still can't believe that Pittsburgh is letting one of their best defenders walk without even offering him a contract *lol*

He was their #4 and they have cap issues.

#2527003 Kesler traded to Anaheim

Posted by DickieDunn on 29 June 2014 - 05:46 PM

I agree even when he still done boneheaded stuff in the draft it come from good things.

Example....getting an extra third last year(good move). Then follows up by a TERRIBLE move by drafting a guy we could've got in round 5 6 or 7 in bertuzzi.

But yes I agree the scouts AND holland and anyone else involved have done a great job of drafting players.

How do you know he wouldn't have been picked before then had they waited?  They obviously liked him and had him targeted, and he's shown enough this last year to make it a legit pick.  34 points in 29 games is a nice step up from the previous year.
