#2615272 Which Sweater Do RWs Retire First - Feds or Ozzy?

I think Tater and Dekaiser are going to be good, Larkun is a future stud though

#2615073 Jets re-sign Anthony Peluso for only 675.000 AAV (2 years)

Posted by DickieDunn on 18 June 2015 - 10:49 AM

One if not currently the best 4 liner in the game what a bargain. Big touch, workhorse and will drop the gloves against anybody. Winnipeg is already a big team but Peluso adds some much needed protection, Backes and Reeves weren't running around as much after Peluso wanted to talk to them.

Guess it's safe to say Winnipeg, Blues are now having the toughest 4 lines in the league...good luck trying to run the stars against them.

Love this signing

9 points in 107 career games.  He does one thing well, punch.  Those guys are useless in the modern NHL.  He's so valuable he didn't play a single minute in the playoffs and only averaged 5:52 a game in the 49 games he did play int he regular season.  So valuable he was a frequent healthy scratch.

It's hard not to admire and respect Chicago's accomplishments.

Chicago and every team associated with it can go suck on some of Chef's chocolate salty balls

Bowman is an advisor, he is not running the team. This thread is ridiculous

#2614776 Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

Franson is over rated and is going to get a ridiculous overpayment.  I sincerely hope the Wings stay away from free agency this year.

#2614766 2015 Draft

Posted by DickieDunn on 16 June 2015 - 12:10 PM

Hasn't even played an NHL game yet but for sure has franchise potential . I would be very happy if Larkin becomes a solid top 6 center. No surprise other fans think Wings fans are overrating their prospects

But there really is no question Strome is and will be the better player guy has elite talent and size.

The wings have a bunch of good prospects and some that could ! Be very good Mantha, Larkin .

If the team traded for a top pick it should be for Hanifin sadly we don't have the assets

After what he did this year he'd be a top 5 pick in the draft this year

#2614724 Report: Cleary wants to return for 1 more season

Posted by DickieDunn on 16 June 2015 - 02:30 AM

Nobody would have an issue if this happened.

But two years ago we all knew there was no way Cleary was coming back because he was clearly deteriorating.

-He ended up with the Wings

Then last year we all knew there was absolutely no way he would be back after a god awful season the year before when he shouldn't have been brought back the first time.

-But he STILL ended with the Wings.

Now for the 3rd year we all know there is absolutely no doubt about the fact the he should be gone once and for all.

-I'm not holding out any hope for the 'right' decision to be made

Third time's the charm, right?

With all the promising kids we have coming plus potential UFA additions, I can't imagine Ferraro or Callahan have any future with us regardless.

Exactly  They're projected 4th line players.  Ferraro might be Drew Miller's level, Callahan a decent 4th line agitator.  You don't lose sleep over those guys.  Of course, this is also the same board where several people insist that virtually any prospect that has a chance of being a 20 goal scorer or 2nd pair D is untouchable, but they MIGHT trade Pulkkinen and Ouellet if they can get a guy like OEL.

#2614418 Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

Posted by DickieDunn on 15 June 2015 - 12:24 AM

In fairness to Holland this conversation would likely be going quite differently if he didn't get a season ending injury.  Cole was exactly the type of player the Wings needed going into the playoffs.

Back man was told he needed to get stronger from day one and didn't, then went home when he faced adversity. Janmark is just a so so prospect whoay never play a game in North America, much less be a good NHL player. These were not prominent prospects, and regardless of what anyone thinks they know about negotiations, there's no legitimate reason to believe that Holland just said "uhhhhh take this guy too!!!!" when a lesser package would get the job done. I know people love most of our prospects and think that 4 mediocre pieces = a good player, but the reality is trades aren't nearly as easy to make as most fans pretend.

Everyone knew cole had a history of injuries, still think a 2nd and backman would of been enough to get him , holland had no reason to throw in janmark

So is it your contention that Nil asked for the pick and Backman, and Holland said "no, we want to give you Janmark too?"

Bills on ball caps should be curved, flat bills make you look like you're on your way to a Make A Wish event

Mantha's issue isn't scoring or conditioning, it's playing hard every shift. Sometimes that can be learned, sometimes not.

Wings won't trade him or the first for a second pair D or second line forward though, I don't think. If there's a deal involving one or both, it will be big, and if it's for Phaneuf Toronto will need to retain salary

#2614213 The "enigmatic" Tomas Jurco: A Thread

Posted by DickieDunn on 13 June 2015 - 10:37 AM

Basically, he's a mediocre checking line forward with a couple moves. He'll probably have one good year and cash in, sorta like martin lapointe. Lol wasn't he captain of the 'hawks? Ooh, maybe he's another kopecky??!?

He has far more talent than either Lapointe or Kopecky

#2614206 Free agents this off season

Posted by DickieDunn on 13 June 2015 - 12:43 AM

He's been relatively healthy last few seasons but he's had some injury concerns in the past which are a concern , and he's not the best defensively ... I mean I wouldn't be pissed off since he's not costing us any assets but I'd be more comfortable with a 3 year term max

Ya he's not the biggest guy and he's been playing with a good offensive team in Anaheim and still new to the league , wouldn't be against landing him

But nyquist has the potential to get 25-40 goals so I'm probably biased but I'd think we could land someone better especially if we added another piece

I wouldn't do it since there in the east but I'm sure Pittsburgh would want nyquist to play with Crosby in a heartbeat

20 to 40 is a huge range.

I'm not sold on either Tatar or Nyquist being more than 60 point guys. Sure, they're valuable, but not guys you can't part with.

#2614106 Cody Hodgson

Posted by DickieDunn on 12 June 2015 - 10:25 AM

Unless Kenny is thinking keeping Z and Dats together on the 1st line. Sheahan centers the 2nd line and Soderberg centers the 3rd line. Babs seemed to think Riley was capable of much more than he's shown. I think its more important to acquire a top 4 dman. We have enough average forwards.

Even then Helm or Weiss could be the third center.

#2614102 Here we go AGAIN - Coyotes, part DUH!

Posted by DickieDunn on 12 June 2015 - 10:16 AM

Well the loyal fans there got screwed over bigtime by the NHL. I mean the guy who is responsible for putting a team there should be fired once they are on the move. That Vegas gamble - oh the irony - is the next stupid project.

How hard is it for the NHL to understand that hockey in the desert will never work ? Now loyal fans are going to lose their team, because the interest has never been there from enough people and the NHL front office was too cocky admitting their mistake.

Give Quebec back what has been stolen from them a long time ago,, let the Nordiques return and for once have another strong slamdunk market, i.e. another Winnipeg.

Quebec is far from a slam dunk market.  What has changed from the 90's?  Are they going to have more corporate and government support?  Will they still insist focusing on how French they are and have problems getting English language coverage?

I'm not convinced the Jets have a long term future either.  They have a small arena, and even with selling out almost every game they're only the 20th valued NHL franchise.  If they don't win consistently, which was their major problem in Atlanta, the novelty of having "Our Jets" back will wear off and fans will stop spending the money on games.
