#2662327 3/26 GDT : Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings, 2:00 PM ET

So tired of the team showing up and playing like they're a house league team who's just there to drink beer and get away from their women.

#2662040 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by DickieDunn on 26 March 2016 - 11:12 AM

One: the I'm always forgetting that damn
Two: Since when is the signing bonus capped?
Three: Trouba isn't even in his prime yet and offense isn't something a defender should be based on. Sure it's an nice asset but the first job is to clear the zone.
Four: Perfectly right keyword being right now who knows maybe he is going to be worth it in 2 years? Guy has so much potential
Five: Might be but given that the Wings can't find defensive gems maybe it's the best chance of landing another top pairing guy?
Six: Sell of some veterans problem solved
Seven: If done right they can be another tool to acquire help

One: max length deals are dangerous anyway

Two: Since always, or it would be circumvention.

Three: If you're paying a defenseman that much he'd better be a Norris caliber guy from the day you start paying him that.

Four:  Who knows what he's going to be worth in two years is right.  You might be paying a second pair guy $8 mil a year

Five: Trading 4 1st rounders for one guy is a bad idea, period.

Six: Can't sell what nobody is buying

Seven: Offer sheets are always matched unless the contract is so ridiculously bad the GM would be a complete moron for either offering it or matching it, that's why almost nobody does it.  That means it's not a tool that can be used to acquire help

#2661718 Fixing this mess....

The thing with businesses is that there's never enough money. They could make more money than the rest of the league combined and priority will always be on revenue.

Mr. I. always said that you don't buy a pro team to get rich, you get rich to buy a pro team.  Christopher needs to learn that lesson if this is his idea of how to run the team.

Guess they were just messing around in practice?

The #RedWings lines in pregame: Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Larkin; Tatar-Datsyuk-Mantha; Nyquist-Sheahan-Athanasiou; Helm-Glendening-Richards.

Good

First fire Blashill. If an entire team falls off it's on the coach

#2658609 Larkin needs a rest

Posted by DickieDunn on 10 March 2016 - 09:23 PM

You really kind of had to reach on that one.  Quit complaining about Richards in every single thread.  Start a thread about him if you want.

So a mod can say there are 3 threads with complaints about Richards, we don't need another one?

Same thing has happened with Mrazek, not used to playing this many games at such a high level.  Problem is we need these guys to be good now, no time to rest. Suck it up future millionaires.

Better to sit for two games and be rested than be worn down for all the games

Zetterberg Datsyuk Abdelkader
Nyquist Larkin Jurco
Tatar AA Pulkkinen
Helm Glendening Sheahan.

Get the kids some ice time

#2657309 Toews or Kane

Kane is better offensively, Toews is the more complete player.

Save this for halfway thru next season. You're going to see him in preseason next year and be surprised. Then after he has 15 goals thru 22 games in GR next year and gets called up, you're going to eat your crow hard. The guy has turned it around big time. Watch the Grifs games and you will see.

Same thing was said about Pulkkinen

#2654732 Where Are The Point Getters?

Nyquist is too soft and Tatar thinks he's a lot better than he is. The rest of them are either kids who aren't progressing or older guys who are declined

Do they not teach you to take away the pass on a 2 on 1? Smith the mental midget blew that one

#2653648 Dennis Wideman Suspended 20 Games

Posted by DickieDunn on 18 February 2016 - 08:03 PM

If the "teammate" indeed turn over the text message, what a dick. I don't care if it was the wrong thing to text, or even if he hit the linesman on purpose, you don't dick over your friend that way.  Of course they most likely aren't friends anymore and I don't doubt there is some retribution coming...and I don't blame Wideman if he does.  It doesn't matter if what Wideman did was wrong or right, you don't rat out your fellow player unless you had an agenda.  In the working world that is called being a company man.  This "teammate" had no reason to rat him out on the text.  He had no interest in the case, but now he is balls deep in it.  Revenge will be sweet.

Again, I am not condoning the hit, nor even the stupid text, but man, what a dick move by the teammate. That is worse than the incident itself and I hope the rest of the team takes care of it.  Unless Wideman sent out a multiple text to many teammates, then he knows exactly who it was and s***s gonna get real,  really soon...

Some people deserve to get "ratted out." Wideman could be a world class douchenozzle who deserves whatever he gets.

Unless others are moved they need to let him walk.

#2651654 Byfuglien resigns with Jets - 5 years/$38 million

Posted by DickieDunn on 09 February 2016 - 02:12 AM

Only if Buff were 33 or so. 5 years is actually pretty good term.

#2651348 Should the Red Wings Trade for Byfuglien?

Posted by DickieDunn on 07 February 2016 - 09:41 AM

The issue with him is that he apparently wants a lot of money and a lot of years and is at an age where he's going to be slowing down sooner rather than later.  He'd probably be worth it for about 3 years, +/- 1, then be steadily more and more of a drag.  If they could get him just as a rental for not that much, go for it, but there are probably other teams that would give more.
