That wasn't directed at you. ET and #9 were piggy-backing off that to complain (oh the irony) about people that complain about Franzen...
Not to create waves, but That's because in almost every thread there is recent and recurring talk about him.
There's a saying about a dead horse that applies, but I'm horrible at metaphors.
And I just looked up the video of jiri Fischer and Hartnell.
I forgot how physical jiri was.
It sucks the way his career ended.
I also had forgotten Hartnell played for Nashville for some reason.
I get he's a leader and a heart and soul guy, but this is a ridiculous overpayment.
$2m less would've still been overpaying him, and the length of the deal seems insane....
He's too small for the game he plays.
IMO of course.
You and others defending Franzen/keeping him are making circular arguements. "we can't buy him out because we don't have anyone better". That is BS. After the Rags bought out Richards who out performed Franzen this year in every way, your point holds less water. Richards is younger, doesn't have a concussion history, played more games, scored more goals, had more points, and yet the Rags REALIZED their mistake and bought him out. Why? Because they knew this was their best chance to get out from under his bad contract. They now have a roster spot open and cap room to go out and get better players. I know it is pretty complicated. Cut the crap and bring in better players. Wonder why our GM can't seem to figure this out.
Richards did not out play franzen.
For proof, see the Richards thread.
Stop turning every thread into something about franzen.
This thread is about tootoo being bought out, not another franzen hate thread.
We need size and grit, so let's trade away 15+ years of a big, skilled, (he played pretty damn gritty last year) top six winger for Joe Thornton.
Who could be good with franzen, maybe, for possibly two years.
Its kind of crazy the amount of top six talent requesting trades out of canada, I would hope the fans weren't that crazy there, but I'd believe it.
I was in Franklin park mall about fifteen years ago,(when it was nice) wearing a fedorov jersey. I was walking with my aunt and he was in one of the department stores buying underwear, in the middle of a pretty crowded store, and no one was bothering him.
I waved at him while I was playing on the escalators and he walked up and started talking to me and offered to sign my jersey.
Granted fedorov probably welcomed the attention, but still.
Free agency's looking like it might end up being exciting this year, but then again.
I say that every year.
