If we pull off two consecutive penalty kills and can get a goal before this period is out, all the momentum will be in our favor. Just have to weather this admittedly awful display. I'm still not sure how that was interference on DK - my initial instinct was that Howard got run over and the penalty was going the other way.
Dk got dumped and swung his stick on the ice and tripped the Montreal player, not something that shouldve been called but it did, it happens.
And had abby not pushed the guy, we probably would've gotten a call.
Mrazek and Larkin carried this team the first half of the season. Neither has played this much hockey at this level before. It is of no shock they have little left at this point in the season.
Tired kids and old vets are our best players. Neither able to carry the team a full season.
The only positive is that Mrazek and Larkin will be much better next season because of it.
Did anyone else see after the refs announced that Glendennings goal was good, Larkin gives him a punch on the shoulder, and disney taps him back, gives a nod and sits stoic as can be. Then Zetterberg comes up and goes to pat his head, misses and punches luke in the face?
Datsyuk is too smart to decline too much more, and even if he loses another step you can just slide him over to the wing with larkin or aa. Having him to mentor Larkin/Athanasiou/svech/mantha/etc is important and a great asset to have. Like a player/coach.
Sure, injuries could be a problem, but having pavel effing Datsyuk help teach the incoming core for 50-60 games a year is still 50-60 games a year that one of the best hockey minds to ever play the game is rubbing off on the youngens.
Unless he falls of a huge cliff, I don't see how this is even debatable.
What did you expect from a 35 year old vet making $3 million? 90+ points like he had 6 years ago? He's been fine for what he signed for. He's got the same amount of points as Helm, who will probably get some huge extension while Richards will be gone. No one expected him to stick around past this season. He's scored some clutch goals, is a veteran presence who has won two cups, and i think if the Wings make the playoffs he'll good to have around.
Seriously, almost all of his goals came at really clutch moments.
I don't get all the hats for him at all. Ha.
And rabble raiser loses the bout.
Speed, skill, and a sniper.
Sounds sexy to me...
I really wish mantha would hit more, and before anyone chimes in, he is HARD AND PHYSICAL ON/WITH THE PUCK, but being thst big, I'd like him to throw thst size around more. But other than thst, that line would be good.
And helm must've woke up on the right side of the bed.
This game is going to be huge, and so will the rest of 'em until the season is over, but I'm going to support and hope for the best with everything I've got. The Wings have had it pretty rough the past couple games, but it's soon now or never time to turn it around, and I'm hoping we get to see the beginning of it tonight against the Jackets. Here's to a good game and a solid performance from Jimmy!
Red Wings 4 (Larkin, Zetterberg, Mantha, Abdelkader)
Blue Jackets 1
Let's Go Red Wings!!!
I'll do all I can, but I don't think there's enough beer and nachos in this world to give them the juju they'd need to start on time.
