This whole unveiling reminds me of this:

#2531921 Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Maybe they'll resign Bert and Sammy too as insurance policies again.  Putting the band back to together...reminds me of this:

#2529820 Favorite Ken Holland Catchphrase / Quote

My vote: "I don't know why they're not coming here" because it demonstrates, more than any of the other quotes, just how out-of-touch Holland seems to be. The league might have passed him by.

This times one billion.

Fantasy Player Tree

"We got seven left-hand D. I love (to have a righty), but how do you get it?" Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said over the weekend at the NHL entry draft in Philadelphia. "It's great to have this fantasy; like (general manager) Kenny Holland would tell you, there's no tree. I've been all over him, but there's no tree to grab them off of, so we'll get what we get."

Here...here's your goddamned tree assholes:

#2529769 Hollands new contract a no brainer?

Posted by LAWings on 03 July 2014 - 01:33 PM

We blew it with Yzerman, turns out he's becoming a pretty good GM.  Look at the wheeling and dealing he's done this past week, very impressive.  Although I think the St Louis fiasco could have been avoided, he managed to get a good deal out of it.  I doubt he will come back to Detroit with the 4 year contract he has with Tampa.

Jim Nill in 2 seasons has turned Dallas around.

Meanwhile, Babs and Kenny are still looking for that mythical free agent tree, unable to make a trade while droning on about how these are different times as every serious cup contender made some kind of move to better their team.  Any wonder no one wants to come to Detroit?

#2527070 Alfie informs Wings he wants to return

Haha! Back to the Future is still an awesome movie.  And, I think that joke is just about as old.

I don't usually try to predict the future and try to pass it off as fact like it has already happened.  But, I agree that they probably won't end up with Iginla, Stastny, or Vanek.  I don't think 'nobody' will happen either, though.  I think they'll make a good run at Ehrhoff and/or Niskanen... and I think either one of those guys makes more sense to sign than Iginla/Stastny/Vanek.  Nothing's written in stone, though, and you never know what could happen.

It is a classic....

History is blueprint / roadmap of where we came from to help determine where we are going.

How I feel whenever Holland / Babs opens their collective mouth nowadays:

#2518699 Holland Holding on to Jeff Blashill

Posted by LAWings on 01 May 2014 - 02:26 PM

Ive been saying since last year to bring up Blashill.  He has a very impressive resume he's won every championship of the league he's coached in, knows how to use kids, even spent time as assistant in NHL so he knows what to do.

Babcock's time is over, his system doesn't work here anymore, time for some new blood and energy.  Blashill knows these kids, he's doing very well with them.

#2518626 Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Posted by LAWings on 01 May 2014 - 09:05 AM

Some of you clearly are not understanding that buying Franzen out would be one of the worst decisions a GM could make when they can easily TRADE him for picks or something else, c'mon folks think here....  At $3.95 million a year, Franzen is a steal, and he can easily be traded for his average 25 goals / 50 points a year (.31 GPM / .61 pts PG).  His concussion messed him up this year, but 41 pts in 54 games is pretty good for his paygrade.

Do the math yourselves, go to capgeek and see what's available in UFA for $4 million.  See how easily he can be traded for that price tag.  Buyout talk is just plain retarded and shows a complete lack of understanding the mechanics of contracts and team building.

#2514359 Least Favorite Wings Players

Posted by LAWings on 23 April 2014 - 12:48 PM

Glendening.  I'm sure he's a great kid, but he produces zero offense.  I don't understand the love affair Babs has with him, for a team that is offense starved the last few years, why bring on a guy that produces nothing?  He's in the top 5 of least producing Wing forwards we've EVER had, I think top 3 actually.  So what if he brings his lunch pail to work every day... he just doesn't produce anything while at work.  Most companies fire you for that.

#2513127 Matt Cooke offered in-person hearing for knee hit

Posted by LAWings on 22 April 2014 - 02:20 PM

Seriously at what point does the league kick this guy out ? Does he have to seriously injure someone or even kill one ? At least it will be 5 games + if I'm Shanaban I'd be giving him 15 games´at least.

Bordelau looked ready to absolutey kill him sadly the refs stepped in.

He HAS seriously injured people.  He ended Marc Savards career.  He almost ended Erik Karlssons career.  Took Lecavlier out for half a year... Matt Cooke is the biggest POS in hockey.  I wish no one injury in hockey, no one...except Matt Cooke, I want him to get taken out either by the NHL or an enforcer, end his career one way or another, this guy needs to go.

Matt Cookes greatest hits, this was 4 years ago...

#2512769 Claude Julien wants less embellishment

Posted by LAWings on 20 April 2014 - 09:22 PM

After watching this video last night, even the Bruins announcer is yelling at the players to get up and that they are embarrassing pointing out 6'8" Chara dropping like a sack of potatoes.  I chuckled and said watch little Tater is going to 'take' Chara down.

Couldn't believe when it happened and he got the penalty.  I've rewatched that play a couple times and Chara totally embellished that, even held Taters stick.  No way a guy that big falls apart like that.

Chumps.

#2511436 The Datsyuk Goal

Posted by LAWings on 19 April 2014 - 11:57 AM

I've had to watch this thing like 15 times and analyze it, still amazed, he confused three Bruins in the neutral zone and left them standing, and then 2 defenders basically fell over backing up...he beat all 6 bruins on the ice by himself.  But it gets better, notice when he scored, he had that sly look but no overly joyous celebration, keeping it humble, "it's only game one, let's stay focused" attitude.

Franzen skates over, and if you look he leans down and says something to Dats and points back to where it all happened.  By the body motion you can tell he is in disbelief, I can here him now, in his mule accent: "Wat yu do there...it...but...how?"

Datsyuk then maintains composure with the other 4 guys, gives them each a small boop on the head, and reaffirmed to them by his leadership at that moment to keep it cool, more work to be done.  Epic.  And if this is the attitude the whole team posses, that it's one goal, one game, keep it humble, come into practice and work even harder...then good things are going to happen.

#2510170 Round 1 Line Combinations

Posted by LAWings on 17 April 2014 - 10:37 AM

We have a shot at beating the B's if we use the line combinations that got us into the playoffs without Z and Dats.  The explosiveness of the kids pays off.  Reverting back to what was not working before they went down is a sure loss.  If this is the lineup then we're in trouble:

Franzen-Datsyuk-Abdelkader, Tatar-Sheahan-Nyquist, Jurco-Helm-Alfredsson, Miller-Glendening-Legwand

#2509731 Round 1 Line Combinations

Posted by LAWings on 15 April 2014 - 12:06 AM

We saw how well the kids played with Dats and Z out, so why not creat havoc for the B's and put Dats on the 3rd line?

Nyquist - Legwand - Franzen

Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco

Helm - Datsyuk - Alfredsson

Miller - Glendenning - Abdelkader

It may look strange, but how do you counter that?
