#2244642 Pittsburg Easiest Team to Beat in NHL

Posted by Drake_Marcus on 12 January 2012 - 05:02 PM

I apparently haven't been paying attention, but what happened to Crosby again? Is he back to crying about his concussions?

 Get him while he's down! Kick some dirt in his eyes.

Classy.

With all the other more important issues needing to be addressed by the League, why is Bettman and his henchmen focusing on this? Because they can.

#2241767 Tortorella fined 30k for WC comments

Posted by toby91_ca on 05 January 2012 - 12:16 PM

Oooooo, no playoff assignments! There aren't enough playoff games to go around, so that probably doesn't sting a whole lot anyway. If I screw up at my job, I don't not get invited to the Christmas party, I get called out on the carpet. Or if it's really egregious, I get fired. When was the last time anyone's heard of a ref getting fired?
And calling out the refs embarrasses the league more than doing a piss-poor job? Sounds to me like they've got their priorities screwed up. I get that they don't want anarchy, but clean house and then worry about fining people for making comments.

I used the playoff assignments as an example, there are many ways that refs get disciplined and refs get dismissed all the time. There are a few that are currently arguing wrongful dismissal as well. Yes, doing a poor job embarrases the league, which is why they get disciplined. However, the poor job is embarrasment enough, having someone get behind a camera and a mic and go on about it just adds to the embarrasment.

Like I said, find me a company out there what wouldn't take serious issue with one of their employees voicing their concerns in the public vs. doing in behind closed doors.

#2240984 Cole suspended three games

Posted by LeftWinger on 03 January 2012 - 11:44 AM

Like I said...agree to disagree.
Abdelkader saw it coming at the last moment, hence what he did with the puck. Not sure what else I can say without just repeating myself...so again, agree to disagree.

You never cease to amaze me with your "view" on hits and players. Can maybe for once you can just get over the fact that your team loses or your player commits something dirty without trying to drag a Wings player through the coals? If you watch the two videos, Abdelkader has nowhere to go and even if he saw a flash of blue coming towards him, it was at the last nanosecond and he maybe just tensed up. You cannot tell any of us that this was not a suspension worthy, dirty play. Not even mentioning that Abby already had a man on him so Cole had no business even trying to check him. Even that play along the boards gets called 99% of the time if something like that happens even without a hit to the head.

Datsyuk's hit sure did end up near the head, but if Jackass wouldn't have pulled a Cindy Lee Crysby and flopped his head back like he was shot with a canon, maybe the refs would've taken a serious look at the play. Jackass is known for embellishment and cheap shots of his own and got no sympathy. PLUS it was not a blindside hit, Jackass knew he was coming and he should've maybe used Pronger Physics and hit Datsyuk instead. Even though, according to you, it still would've have been Yzerman's err...I mean Datyuks fault.

What else is funny, is all of the crosschecks and runs that Backes does that don't get called, I don't see you talking about how those are penalty's and should be called. Of course you aren't. Hitchcock is tired of Shanny's videos? He doesn't want to watch it because he has seen the hit and knows it was suspension worthy so why even listen to an explanation? Hitchcock isn't gonna come out and say, "ya I agree it deserves a suspension and Cole is an idiot." I am sure he called Cole a few choice words in private. If he disagreed with the call or the suspension, then he would've said something to that effect, not just he is tired of watching the video.

So what's next on your agenda? You come in here trash talking Jimmy and touting Elliot as the best goalie to ever wear the musical note only to see him give up 6 goals in 2 games and lose to Goalie A both times. You then come in and say if Cole's hit is illegal then so is Datsyuk's even though they are entirely two different types of plays with two different intentions and results. There is no way to even compare the two, unless you are saying Abdelkader dove? With you I wouldn't doubt it. If Cole would've injured his shoulder on the play, I am sure you would have spun up another story on how Abdelkader cheapshotted Cole with his head...

...I hope you never go away cprice because you are hilarious to read!

If that is suspension worthy, then Datsyuk should have been suspended for his targeted hit to the head on Jackman.

Personally, I don't think either are suspension worthy on their own...but if Shanny deemed Cole's hit suspension worthy, then so was Datsyuk's. Both were shoulders that targeted the head. End of story.

Both Cole and Datsyuk's hits will never be taken out of the game. The game is far too fast and it is a rough, contact sport. These kinds of hits will always happen in the heat of the moment during play as players move at the last second when a check is coming and a shoulder hits a head.

The only way these hits can be taken out of the game is if they slow the game down by allowing clutching and grabbing, bring back the two line offsides pass, etc.

I understand the need to protect players from concussions, but I can't see these hits going away even with suspensions looming, because they aren't preventable with how the game is played now.

Last month's inclusion of backgrounds sized for your iPhone4 and iPad proved to be wildly successful, so I've also added a (relatively) standardized Android device background as well: 480x800.

Enjoy!

Should be a good game and a W as well. We have to try and keep pace with Chicago as much as possible. Can't let them get too comfortable atop the division.

Maybe you should worry about passing St. Louis in the standings before concentrating on Chicago.

;)

#2235251 Crosby has "concussion symptoms"

Posted by VM1138 on 13 December 2011 - 09:55 AM

Yes let's wish that a player never plays again because the media promotes him after having one the best starts to a career in the history of the game.

Stay classy wing's fans.

This is awful news, he's such an important player for the league, it will not be the same without him. Such a shame.

I don't understand this mentality. He's not any better for the game than Ovechkin or Stamkos or anyone else. Maybe because he sells more jerseys? As far as the actual game goes, he's not even the best player in the league (arguably), so his loss would suck for Pens fans but I think the league will do just fine.

Wow, over-dramatize much? The NHL has survived the retirement of Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky; what would make this worse?
