#2225513 11/15 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blues 2

I hope we get this road trip off to a good start. I agree with Jenny, would be nice to get Conklin back in net so he's ready when/if needed.

Why does anyone wanna see that clown in net... did you already forget how bad he was.

#2223589 Nine Athletes who Excelled at Being Average

Posted by Scott Stevens on 07 November 2011 - 09:45 PM

In the words of the Rock, Draper knew his damn role, and he shut his damn mouth. Absolutely no reason to say anything negative about this guy. Saying any athlete that's won a prestigious award in his prime, numerous championships, and played 17 years in a professional sport is "average" is just a stupid observation. Kris Draper was a great bottom 6 forward.

I really think losing him is worse than people want to admit. He just worked his tail off game in and game out. That's the type of play we need right now.

right. kris draper would really help fix the scoring drought.

#2221568 Anyone else worried about Kronner?

Posted by mmamolo on 02 November 2011 - 10:57 AM

I didn't think it was an elbow. I also don't have a problem with a player sensing another player behind him and initiating contact before he is hit. What I didn't like about the play was:

1. I thought Koivu initiated contact early
2. Shoulder or not the principle point of contact was Kronwall's head; and,
3. if you look at the ref by the net he is yelling at the players in front of the net instead of watching the puck (which for the low referee is his job).

And just quietly, he's actually been playing this season like he has a bit of the ol' concussion...

It wasn't an elbow.

stole my responses. good work.

This 2. Sharks have our number and have had it for awhile now. Our team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs...

Then give up now and spare us your defeatist nonsense.

Do you know what I like about the Red Wings? In my 15+ years as a fan, I've never seen them miss the playoffs, raise four Cups, produce some of the best players that this and any generation will ever see, do the unthinkable and put teams together like 2002 and even the 2008 squad in the salary cap era that missed another cup by one game, a GM who doesn't make knee-jerk reactions and trade assets for rentals and has faith that the team's they have will be successful.

The negativity on this board blows myf****** mind. The Wings haven't had it easy like the Hawks, Penguins and Capitals who have put their fans through hell while piling up draft picks that finally led to some success. They put good teams together with good late drafting and signing key free agents.

No wonder no one respects Wings fans... the comments on this thread just confirm the fact that everyone thinks that they're arrogant, spoiled fans. It's three weeks into thef****** season... knock this s*** off.

I don't care if the Wings win it all or miss the playoffs, I'll continue to watch these guys do this thing and enjoy Lidstrom's potential last season while everyone attempts to kill themselves after EVERY SINGLE LOSS.

Doan would be perfect and, thus, won't happen. Another player I would want is Ales Hemsky.

Shanahan is doing decent job so far. I'm glad this cheap shot artist finally caught an attention.

btw, does anybody know where a complete list of this and previous seasons' suspensions can be found?

Not sure about last season, but this is a pretty good site for this year's running list:

#2214303 Roenick's Rant

Posted by InKennyWeTrust on 12 October 2011 - 10:14 AM

Quite possibly the first time I've ever agreed with Jeremy Roenick. I saw on ESPN's bottom line yesterday on the NHL's "Crosby" section that there was nothing new to report. The hell is it even there for, then?

#2213823 How long before headshots are embellished by garbage players?

Posted by stinky fish taco on 09 October 2011 - 07:23 PM

So Abdelkader makes an ass out of himself by embellishing a hit once, and he's just as big of a piece of s*** as Cooke?

where did i say that?

everyone already knows that cooke is human garbage. that's nothing new.

a discussion about the potential that players may intentionally embellish any hit near the head due to the new rules might actually result in some conversation. it just so happens that the most blatant example of that so far was abdelkader. hopefully it was a one-time thing.

Posted by stinky fish taco on 09 October 2011 - 07:13 PM

i think it was 100% on-topic. are we concerned about players embellishing head shots due to the new stricter rules, or not?

it's not like matt cooke will be the only guy doing it...and that play was nowhere near as bad of an embellishment as abdelkader's. that's incredibly emabarrassing for the wings.
