Zidlicky and Cole were both great tonight, Howard was the best player. What a deadly W, 3 game win streak!

Agreed, three W's in a row.... Wait a minute, Toronto can't put three W's together in a row, how do they even have a website? (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Do not get me started on how the preds are playing lately, :bad:  :bad:  :censored:  :unhappy:  :paperbag3:  :ranting:
i'm demanding that lavi makes the team do herbies after every loss until they stat winning again

I think its karma for Nashville playing like effin thugs.
James Neal deserves to get kneed in the head every day of his life, for the rest of his life.

I'd rather see some disciplinary action towards Rooney and his band of scum sucking pigs...

Unfortunately those odds can only be expressed as an imaginary number.

#2565437 The Maple Leafs finally put a quality product on the ice...

Pretty cool, but a couple of things:

1)  I never want to see Kessel getting dressed.  Ever.  Under any circumstances.

2)  Please stop showing Phaneuf.  It's embarrassing enough he's on your team, let alone your captain.  You're better served not reminding anyone.

The only person I would pick MAYBE as a captain over Zetterberg is Jonathan Toews.

And here I thought I was done throwing up after yesterday.

But nope. That right there did the trick.

Poor leadership.  Euros tend to relax more than North Americans.  Just look at how many hours they work on average over there.
Need some good North American boys to lead once in a while.........no I haven't been drinking.................Datsyuk and Zetterberg need to not be so passive with this group.

Right... were losing because our captain is Swedish.

I hope they hire torts. Miss that guy

#2557471 slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

Posted by kliq on 17 December 2014 - 09:12 PM

Let's compare Varlamov then :)

Okay. I couldn't remember the Varlamov situation to well, so I looked it up. What I read on CBC.ca is the following (link posted below):

"Prosecutors said Friday that they are dropping a domestic violence case against Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov because they have new information leading them to believe they couldn't win a conviction."

In the case of Voynov, he was actually charged with a felony count of domestic violence. Similar accusations as Varlamov, but different assessment from law enforcement.

Either way, I am curious what you are trying to say here:

Are you saying that Varlamov should have faced harsher penalty when he was initially put into police custody? Or are you saying that the NHL is acting to harsh with Voynov?

If you worked with the NHL, what would you do?

Personally I feel that when these types of accusations happen, it puts the NHL in a very tough situation. If I were Bettman, I wouldn't want to make judgements myself, I feel situations like this need to be assessed by people who see these things every day (ie. law enforcement, court system). When you try to become judge, jury, and executioner you will end up in a Goodell situation. I would likely link my disciplinary process to what the law enforcement/court system decide.

So for example, if law enforcement decided not to press charges, I would let him play. You wouldn't want to run into a situation where if someone was falsely accused and the police deemed this, the NHL still suspends. But, if the system deems there is enough evidence to go to court, I would indefinitely suspend him.

I hope he receives a fair and just ruling under due process of the law. Contrary to some people's view on this forum, Slava Voynov is not an animal, he's a human being just like you or me. Innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

Keep in mind that I'm speaking as a woman.

Why on earth are these people (athletes) losing their jobs or getting suspended?  They have been accused of crimes.  They have been arrested.  Charges are filed.  Then they go to court.

Why are they getting suspended for SUSPICION of a crime?  That's all it is until the person has his day in court.  Until it is proven in court, it is an ALLEGED crime with an ALLEGED victim no matter how great the evidence.

If there is a conviction, they must face the consequences- legally, personally, and professionally.  If there is jail time, they can be suspended as they will not be able to participate.  In that case, their off-ice activities effect their ability to fulfill their contract and suspension makes sense.  Otherwise, what they do off the ice (or field, depending on the sport) has nothing to do with their fulfilling their contract to play their game.

Suspending before the facts are in is nothing but public relations posturing and political correct nonsense.

Media attention and suspensions puts the spotlight on a family that is already dealing with issues.  Is it really fair to them to aggravate what may very well be a dangerous, or at least tense, situation?  It also deals a financial blow to the family.  Granted, they probably make a lot of money and can afford suspensions, but in cases such as Rice, is it fair to his wife to remove her income before he goes to court?  She married an NFL player with a big salary and now he's unemployed.

As a female, I find it appalling that the league steps into the situation before they have any idea what is actually going on.  It sends the message that women can't take care of themselves.  Let the family sort things out on their own.  Let them get counseling for whatever issues led to the dispute.  Let them have their lawyer get them through the legal issues.  Leave them alone to sort through the aftermath.  Adding the drama of the league stepping in only adds to the problems of the family, not just the player.

I'm not saying the domestic violence should be condoned or that the league should look the other way.  I'm just saying that they should stay out of things until the accusations are sorted through and they have facts to deal with.  Then they can enforce their rules knowing that they are doing the right thing.

I just feel bad for the wives and children.  They have enough to deal with without all the rest of the world stepping in and trying to punish their man in the name of political correctness to assuage the talking heads in the media in addition to the legal and personal issues that they are already facing.

Speaking of songs and the Wings, every time I hear comfortably numb I think of Franzen, thanks to you GMR, thanks to you.

Watching Franzen play makes me want to sing " Hey You." It is amazing how every word of that song relates to Franzen.
Sorry Mr. McCartney for going off topic. Rock n roll brings out lots of emotions.

Wow Pittsburgh that was incredible classless and also LOL at going from Shero to Rutherford a guy who hasn't done anything for the Hurricanes by not having a bad roster on paper.

Also they should have fired Bylsma the day Shero was fired so he would have been able to look at other offeers, what a joke that organization has become *lol*
