Classy Selanne taking a smart penalty.

I hope this clown plays his last game tonight as a loser on his home ice.

Yip, Beck, Fisher, and Hornquist are questionable for tonight's game.

I'll take it!

Root for Dallas to win in regulation tomorrow. Of course, the Red Wings need two points as well for that to matter.

Have my cheer cheatsheet

#2382430 NHL comes back stronger than ever

Posted by Nightfall on 09 April 2013 - 11:13 AM

Even though I knew there was going to be a lockout, I bought WC tickets.  They went on sale in August last year, before the lockout was official, and there was no way I was going to chance missing it.  When I had the option after the game was officially canceled, I retained my tickets, because for me, this is a once in a life time opportunity.  People in Michigan have substantially more opportunities to attend Wings' games than I do, so when I get the chance and the means to go...I go.  I've been to 8-9 Wings' games and only one was at the Joe, so this is a big deal for me.  I'm just hoping they release the Winter Festival schedule so I can plan my trip already.

I would rather take the $400 I would spend on the NHL Winter Classic tickets, go downtown Detroit, and spend that money watching the game at a local restaurant or bar.  I would spend about $100 there, and then go to the next bar or restaurant, watch the game and drop another $100.  In the end, I would have given $400 to the people who were really affected by the lockout and not the NHL or NHLPA.

I know, it all comes down to personal preference and I don't disagree with what you are doing.  I do hope you enjoy the Winter Classic.  I am just venting at this point, and probably will be for a little bit longer.  The wounds are still fresh.

#2375775 Iginla Traded to Pittsburgh

Posted by edicius on 29 March 2013 - 06:49 AM

To me, Iginla's choice of Pittsburgh over Boston (which clearly had the better trade offer) is just a big middle finger to Calgary. If he truly cared about bettering Calgary as he was leaving, Boston would have been the choice. I've never liked Iginla, seen too much dirty goonery from him (spearing, fighting while readjusting his visor as he does so, etc.). Only thing he needs to learn to fit in on that Pittsburgh squad is a good reverse 1 1/2 somersault to draw some penalties.

#2352841 Franzen spear on Perron

You can actually see Perron looking up to see if the refs are looking while he lays on the ice acting.  It ain't like he followed Franzen to the boards and finished a check, he saw Franzen already against the boards and went right at him for the cheap hit trying to stir it up. He got what he got what he deserved.  Typical cheap Blues play.

I love it. The Wings, especially Franzine, have been punching bags too long.

#2351313 Mike Ilitch's Apearance

Posted by IILeiBlazeII on 05 February 2013 - 12:09 PM

You make it sound like he just gave everyone that out of the good of his heart. I'm pretty sure he made a hefty profit on all of those things.

He's old and possibly senile, and he drinks too much.

Let's lighten up a bit here. Poking fun at the guy must mean we hate everything he's ever done and think he's a bum.

That's the American Dream, isn't it? I agree with 55fan - this forum in general has gotten a lot more whiny and a TON more disrespectful since I joined back in '07. The man single-handedly put Detroit back on the map as a sports town. He has provided most of us (including me) a hockey team that has made the playoffs in almost every year I've followed them with his own money... and don't think he was making wild profits back in the lean years when he was giving away a car every game to get people in the seats. I think he deserves a reward - both in money and *RESPECT* - for bringing sports, fans and jobs to my favorite city in the world.

What he did, he may have gained some profit on yes. More improratantly it helped somewhat revive a dying city of Detroit year after year, which eventually grew more into shambles, which could not have been solved by a superbowl, stanley cup and whatever else
