Wings sign Brad Richards 1 yr, $3 million

I can't wait to watch some 3 on 3 OT. I like the Richards signing because it adds a smart guy to the middle of the lineup and he played well for Chicago in the Cup Final. This is a vet signing that actually makes sense by Holland.

New Ultra-Enhanced Video/Renderings of the Arena District

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/closer-look-new-red-wings-arena-plans/33837516 According to this video (forward to 40 second mark where he compares it to the Joe), seats will be right on top of the action. They say it will feature steeper seating than the Joe and sight lines will be closer for hockey than any arena in the country, including Montreal. We'll have to wait for the final product, but I've heard Ilitch and Wilson say that they've made sight lines a top priority for this new arena.

Which Sweater Do RWs Retire First - Feds or Ozzy?

My vote is just Fedorov. Fedorov is a first ballot HOF that was one of the best players in hockey (won the Hart Trophy) in the 90s. Osgood has the numbers and might get in the HOF, but he was never considered among the elite goalies in the league. I might have a different opinion if he won the Conn Smythe, had we won the 2009 Cup, but it is what it is.

    Retire Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Immediately

That's true, but Fedorov was an incredible playoff performer for the Wings who ended up with 163 points in 162 games. I don't think there's any question he deserves to have his number retired. The only people who are still against it are the ones holding a grudge about the way he left or never really saw him play back in the 90s.

    Retire Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Immediately

There are teams that retire numbers left and right (Colorado with Bourque and Foote), but the Wings have very strict standards. The fact that we are even discussing whether a first ballot HOF (like Fedorov) deserves to have it retired, should tell you that. I could also argue that Syd Howe, Ebbie Goodfellow and Herbie Lewis (all in the HOF) were more instrumental than Larry Aurie in the early years. Aurie got his number retired not because of Adams, but because he was former owner James Norris' favorite player. It's been so long that hardly anyone remembers them anymore. Hopefully they have a team hall of fame at the new arena so they can honor legends from the early years, but I honestly don't believe Aurie's #6 deserves to be in the rafters. I think the number should stay out of circulation just like Konstantinov's #16.
