1327219496[/url]' post='2248072'] If he gets suspended for a completely accidental play then it's horses***...let's see Z get suspended for something like this when Datsyuk couldve gotten his knee blown out on a knee on knee hit earlier in the game and there was no call at all. This was nothing more than 2 minutes from behind, no intent, not even a (real) physical force induced.
Accidental or not, an injury occurred. I am pretty sure Z is going to be suspended because the league has to be consistent and this type of play has been brought up for suspension already this season (can't remember specifics, someone else might). Since he doesn't have a history of suspensions, I think that the only reason this goes past a one game suspension is that an injury occurred that could have been worse.
He is the closest thing we have to an enforcer. A defensive defenseman who is at least mostly responsible in his own zone and can and will drop the gloves and can fight well is a luxury that the Wings have seldom had this millennium.
Minnesota has historically been good defensively and most of that has been with great goaltending tandems. This year they have a few more offensive weapons available and it shows with their record.
Both of those things combined with consistent play at home and on the road will lead to points. The main test will come after the AS game and trade deadline during the final stretch to the playoffs when everyone has settled their lineups. If they can continue with their consistency then they can make the playoffs. After that, like every other team, it will be up to goaltending and depth in the lineup.
Why does everyone want to waive Commodore? I don't get it. Seems like we need some physicality since we are being pushed around in every game and Smith is not the person to provide that. Commodore may be.
Commodore hasn't played enough to warrant this kind of attitude. Smith has had a shot to impress, and he hasn't. He'll get more shots but right now Commodore is healthy and should be given a chance to contribute. The same goes for Mursak.
