#2422553 Should we trade our 2013 1st round pick?

Could be a way for us to unload a forward also..our pick + a roster player or two to move up.

The organizational depth is such that the Wings can likely afford to actually trade up right now.  They could really use a home run scoring forward right now.

#2422272 Wings looking to trade before using buyouts

One poster brings up replacing Tootoo and the East and everyone goes off the deep end.

No one is talking about reshaping the roster or our style of play. It's just that Tootoo is the most aggressive player we have and losing him would create a hole. It helps to have players like that throughout your roster and especially in the bottom 6 to wear down your opponent. We have little to none.

It's not about enforcers, it's about guys that can crash and bang and still play a normal shift without being a liability.

It's not about the East, it's about being a difficult team to play against both with and without the puck.

I'd much rather keep Tootoo over Emerton, Bertuzzi, or Sammuelsson.

#2421663 Nyquist or Tatar

Posted by kipwinger on 24 June 2013 - 01:01 AM

No worries that you would trade Nyquist over Tatar I disagree but it's all good.

Question then is though for who or what?

I don't even know who is on the trading block right now that could help our team?

Obviously one or the other would have to be part of a package deal I would think.

I agree that both of their values right now are at a high. No doubt.

Ideally I'd trade them to a team looking to move some salary out, and even more ideally it would be for a young scorer or top pairing defenseman.  Yandle or Bobby Ryan come to mind.  I don't know if either are available, but they've been rumored to have been on the block in the past and even recently as well.  Again, obviously rumors but that's what I'd be looking for.  Bobby would score like gangbusters on our top line and would allow us to slot Franzen against second pairing d-men, thus exploiting that mismatch.  And Yandle would seriously help our transition game which looked lackluster this year.  I really think we need someone that can help transition from defense to offense a little more effectively.

Those are just two names, but their could be more if I really  dug into it.

Nobody bashes Hossa.  I never said Franzen was "great".  I never said Franzen was a better player.  You're the only one that says things like a player "is great" or he "sucks".  And you brought up "the choice" during the Chicago series which wasn't exactly "a while" ago.

It's impossible to discuss anything with someone who makes one gross exaggeration after the next and frequently puts words in people's mouths.

Go ahead and show me where I brought up the Choice....I even said that I would not discuss it, and would never bring it up again if Franzen outscored Hossa or we beat Chicago...

So black and white stats are a gross exaggeration...ok.

Its obvious, your man love is too large to ever see Franzen for what he is...like I said, just keep on waiting for him to show up when it counts. Meanwhile I will just keep on bashing him when he fails the team again...I don't even have to ever bring up Hossa again to see how bad Franzen is...plenty of players out there who make Franzen money who are better...

This has Eva loves Hudler all over it....

#2421354 Per Eklund, Wings & Flyers pursuing Bobby Ryan

Posted by marcaractac on 22 June 2013 - 01:54 PM

please don't get me going on my obsession for the Wings to acquire Ryan. I would love it! It would be costly though.

nah...buyout Sammy and Bert. Trade for Ryan, sign Weiss. Offense problems solved.

People seem to forget how invisible that guy can become. Heis not worth the price tag that would come along with him at all. We need a gritty top 6 forward, not another franzen.

Having said that, if franzen was one of the things going the other way, id be all for it.

#2421076 Flyers to buyout Briere

Posted by Nev on 20 June 2013 - 04:03 PM

Nothing against him, but stay away from Briere please. Wings are going to get younger, bigger Briere doesn't match the new direction.

The Flyers are really handeling their players like crap at some point this will come back and haunt them.

It already came back and haunted them when they missed the playoffs.  Honestly, all the Wings fans who want to fire Holland + Babs, who want to trade/waive/buyout everyone who isn't' Pav or Hank, who want to sign every FA under the sun - take a looong hard look at Philly (and NYR).

Throwing players at the wall and seeing who sticks just doesn't work.  Philly management, fans and media have yet to work that out.  No roster stability or continuity, a couple of random playoff runs and 20 years of underachievement.

Franzen-Mursak-Frk would be a good Griffens line.

For 5 mil a season Flip can take his all world skills to one of the other 29 teams who think he is the 2nd coming of Teemu Selanne. I'm quite happy with Nyquist for 1mil thanks.

Why keep Flip again? Am I.missing something?

Ask the 30 GMs who would die for Filppula to play on their team for the right price. Great skater, great puck control, great battler, hustles his ass off every shift, great two-way play, great at faceoffs and big offensive potential.

We've all seen what Filppula can do and how much he can score. If we can see the 60-70 point Filppula again, isn't it worth giving him a short contract to try and prove himself again? I feel like that is reasonable. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Andersson, Brunner, and Nyquist need to stay as 3rd line

Helm should center the third line (hoping that he returns, I think he will) and Brunner should get a top 6 spot.

Surprised about the lack of Miller love on here. He was excellent on the PK. I'd like to see him here one more year.

#2404363 Official Franzen VS Hossa

Posted by Z and D for the C on 14 May 2013 - 09:55 AM

Hossa is by far the better player. The only thing consistent in Franzens game is his inconsistency  When hes in one of his 20 game goal droughts he brings nothing else to the team with his floating around. Hossa plays hard every game and is atleast a threat the defense needs to pay attention to every shift even if hes not scoring.

This. Franzen isn't even close to Hossa's level.

#2402265 Any pickins from the Canucks carcass?

Posted by RedWingsRox on 11 May 2013 - 10:11 PM

Ryan Kesler? Him Fil and Franzen on a line could be a sick second line.

I assumed Kesler and the twins would be untouchable.

I'd do Howard, Datsyuk and Nyquist for Kesler, Burrows, Edler and Luongo--- assuming Pavel doesn't re-sign

Would be an NBA-type trade but hey

Really?  I don't think I would.  I want Dats to retire a Red Wing ... couldn't handle seeing him in another uniform.  I'd try to get him to sign a short extension 2-3 years if he wants to play a little longer.  But even if we don't get a single thing back for not trading him if he decides to retire in 2014, I still wouldn't pull the trigger on him.  He is too fun to watch.
