#2504142 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by rick zombo on 31 March 2014 - 12:28 PM

When I was watching the trade deadline coverage on TSN, Bob MacKenzie said as clear as day that the Red Wings felt Jarnkrok wouldn't play for the organization. He wanted big time minutes in the big league, that wasn't going to happen with the Wings so he wanted out.

We traded a player who might be good, but who didn't want to play here. It's that simple no need for all the dramatics.

If this is true, it just goes to show howf****** boss a kid like Nyquist is to keep his mouth shut, put in the work, and wait for his chance.

About time? That is what e got him for isn't it , I just hope he doesn't disappear from the scoresheet for 4-5 games no since he got his 2 pt game

And your criticism of Legwand is pretty transparent.

You didn't like the trade, so David will have to win the Conn Smyth in order for you to be happy. Buuuuuut you still won't be.

1. I say we cut bait on Weiss and use our 2nd compliance buyout on him.

2. Bert, Cleary, Sammy are all gone

3. Bridge contracts (2 year) for Tatar (about 1M), Sheahan (about 1M), DeKeyser (about 1.4M)

4. Make a run at Ryan Callahan if TB can't resign him before FA.

5. If Alfie wants to come back at take less $ (say 4M next year) then so be it... Jurco starts the season in GR

6. If we don't get a big FA forward, then we think about resigning Legwand - But where does he go? Pav, Helm, and Sheahan are all centering lines next year - Is Legwand better than Helm or Sheahan? Are we going to pay 4M+ for a 3rd or 4th line center?

7. Make an attempt at a top pairing FA D-Man like Markov. Most likely, he will stay in MTL. Unfortunately, there aren't many options better than Quincey out there.

8. Make a trade to free up some room. Would be awesome to get an extra pick or two for the loaded 2015 draft.

Z-Pav-FA (Callahan)

Mule-Helm-Alfie

Gus-Sheahan-Tatar

Miller-Glendening-Abby

Andersson/Ferraro?

Kronner/Smith

E/DK

Q/Lahoff

Kindl

Compliance can not be used on Weiss. He signed a post-lockout deal.

That's a pretty expensive 3rd line .... gotta think we won't keep all 3 of those

Wanted to ask .... Is pulkkinen out of waiver options? Guessing not cause he's a rookie but I'm asking cause he's 22 .... Not exactly sure on the rules

Pulkkinen is not out of options. He can come and go all season next year. Good times.

Abdelkader is on the power point because I think a fire under his butt would allow him to be great in front of the goalie.

Sorry, Sheahan and Andersson on the bench.  I just don't know where you put him?  Eaves' place?  Abdelkader?

Eaves’ place? LOL

Since this is a discussion forum, I respect your opinion, but with all due respect, I think your evaluation of this team is a little off if you have Sheahan on the bench.

^ There is ZERO chance that Sheahan is not on next year's opening roster. ZERO.

ZERO

If I were Holland, I would do this trade 10-out-of-10 times. f*** Jarnkrok. When Zetterberg came here from the SEL he made the Wings out of camp. Not after a couple of blanket tosses in the AHL.

One thing the Wings are amazing at is talent evaluation. I doubt they trade Jarnkrok, panicked, or not, if they didn’t think the franchise could live with it.

+ IF we make the playoffs this year, it will be in part due to Legwand’s contribution.

And I actually think the playoff streak is important. And I actually think that if this team gets in, we may see good things.

Hudler 2.0?

Funny stuff.

(until he goes on a scoring slump and we all blame his nightlife)

#2501650 Callahan called up from GR.....

Posted by rick zombo on 26 March 2014 - 01:06 PM

Rick, big difference here. bert is done. toast, finished, career over. Callahan is just beginning. maybe he becomes something, maybe not. we don't know. But he needs to play so we can find out. There are many reasons why he was a step slow. unfamiliar, nerves, told to focus on skating, etc....... I still think he is a 4th line checking guy, which is fine. maybe adds 10-15 goals per year. Great!

That’s my point. Hard to nitpick Callahan’s 5 minutes of ice time when Todd BerTANIC is floating around out there like no one told him he already sank many years ago.

I’d take Callahan at this point. I know Babcock likes his “big bodies” but Bert took a stupid careless penalty just because he refuses to keep his goddamn stick on the ice with TWO HANDS all the time. Plus he turned the puck over at least 6 times.

#2500623 Injury Updates

god damn how bad does that knee fluid drain **** hurt? Sounds just horrible lol. The things Cleary put his body through for this team. just remember that (not saying I want him back this year lol)

The fluid drain hurts but it’s not unbearable.

Respect the Cleary past. Hardcore. Put him in a suit and make him an assistant to Draper or Fischer next year.

I’d kiss the guy if I ever saw him, but only after he retires. Anything short of that gets a punch.

Someone should give Mitch a quick run down of Blake Comeau's behaviour last game against the Wings.

#2500401 Callahan called up from GR.....

Unfortunately Ferraro proved why he had not been called up yet. While we have had numerous great storylines of young kids taking their piece of the pie, Ferraro was not one of them. Nor was Pulkinen fro that matter (but this is his first yr in NA and he is a scorer who needs minutes, whole different scenario). Heres to hoping Callahan plays with a burr in his saddle and makes some noise.

Sheahan, Nyquist, and Tatar grabbed all their piece of the pie after being invited to dinner three times. All three have played in games dating back to the 11-12 season. In fact, only Jurco really made his case with his first shot this year.

Although I don't have high hopes for him, this was only Ferraro's first shot. Just thought I'd point that out.
