Minnesota is widely regarded as having the best prospect pool in the league. I know its just 1 game and all pre-AHL prospects, but having just won the Calder trophy I'm very excited about our future. Easily the deepest prospect pool, every player we have drafted has potential

Franzen is a laid back dude. He's always saying s*** like this. It's the verbal equivalent of "shrugging".
It'll be status quo for Franzen this season. If any of you are holding out hope for him to go full beast mode, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're more or less happy with what he brings vs what he gets paid, then there's no cause for alarm based on this latest quote from Mule.
I thought he left because they wouldn't make him captain. I could be wrong though, but if true his number shouldn't be retired
I think if we're going to speculate, the best theory is that he left because he didn't get along with Babcock. Same as Scheider and Lang. Although I think in the case of all three of theses guys, the Wings weren't overly worried about them leaving either.
Holland didn't want to go that high. Lets say he did sign him right now for 3 million, the Wings would be over the cap by 1 million. Plus three must sign RFA's need to get raises. And we would have 17 forwards signed counting Gustav and Andersson.
He should trade Sammy for a 7th round pick. It's Hollands fault Brunner isn't a Wing, the guy loved playing here.
1. No one knows what Holland offered but it's believed to be in the 2.5 range
2. Sammy has a NTC
3. Of course Brunner said he loved playing here. You know who loves playing here? Datsyuk. He could have gotten extra money out of Jersey or 28 other teams next year too. Except he re-upped with the Wings for less than he would have got as a UFA in 2014. I don't buy all the "OMG I looooove Detroit" talk from Brunner.
I dont want to hear it anymore. Its an assinine argument to discuss millions of dollars and whos worth what.
Proof: We had Bertuzzi, Samuelsson, Tootoo, and White RIDING THE FREAKING PINE IN THE PLAYOFFS. That's 8.5 MILLION DOLLARS doing nothing for us. NOTHING. Isn't it obvious NOW that our GM is an imbecil? So let's keep our discussions to "who benefits us more" instead of "what can we afford". Im sorry for the capgeek thread. Thats obviously not a helpful tool, as our buffoon GM only looks for loyalty points and not value.
"5 million is too steep for Lecavalier."
You had White and Sammy on the bench, so how's that?
"6 million is too steep for Horton."
You had White, Sammy, and Tootoo on the bench, so how's that?"
Is there anyone on this planet that believes healthy Bertuzzi/Sammuelsson/White/Tootoo playing in place of Nyquist/Eaves/Colo/Miller gets us by the Ducks and Blackhawks? Hell no.
So we must all come to the logical conclusion - money/salary cap is being poorly utilized. The problem is NOT that we dont have enough.
FIRE HOLLAND. HE STINKS.
Jesus. How hard is it to see that Samuelson, White, Tootoo, Bertuzzi, Quincey , etc are all signed to short term deals. Holland knows this. Is it a coincidence that Bert and Sammy's contracts are up next year when Ericcson's due for a raise, for example.
Clarkson, Horton, and Lecavalier all wanted minimum five year deals!!!! Understand? See the difference between those contracts and the guys I mentioned above.
I'm no Holland slappy, but use your friggin brain.
i heard carolina is willing to give up the #5 pick for a top 4 dman i would give up smith or quincey(if they wanted him and could extend him only) and more to get that pick if nichushkin is available . id love to see him next to datsyuk next year
and since ference is not gonna be resigned maybe we can go after him as a 5-6dman depending the price
Seemes strange that they would do this. There are a decent handful of top 4 D-men available as UFAs. If they're looking for a legit top 2 pairing D-man, then that's a different story all together.
