Star Wars line: Luke, Lando, and Drew-bacca

If the Wings can keep winning, this has to become a thing.

true but now it's highly likely that they both will, like I said we aren't playing Chicago anymore, and if the Habs let Ottawa back in then do we even have to play the Sens? With the WC would rags get em?

Stays within the division. Rangers play the Caps/Islanders.

Best defensive effort of the season.

Not going to be easy to finish Tampa off though.

I can handle losing. I can handle the breakdowns.

What I can't handle is Johnson going into the boards like he was dead on mild contact with Glendenning and the bulls*** that ensued. Luke gets rag-dolled from behind, hurts his hand, and that diving little midget has his way for the next 6 minutes and OT. Why can't these teams win without resorting to tactics?

Well the good news is that Saturday's another opportunity.......

to cross-check Johnson in the f****** throat.

I don't know that anything will ever top the Laughing Hudlers

Exactly. The laughing Hudlers will always be the best.

For the record, I found that Babcock photoshop on the  "Down With Detroit" Facebook page. I didn't create it.

I think it is foolish to believe there is some magical combination of lines that suddenly turns this team into a top tier force...we simply lack the depth and personnel to compete with the Lightning, especially given how inept our top young guys like Sheahan, Tatar and Nyquist have looked.

There have been teams in the past that have beaten the Wings that have lacked the depth and personnel ON PAPER to compete with them.

This Wings team lacked the depth and personnel to beat Anaheim in 2013, but they did. This is essentially the same team only they're supposed to be better. Unless you consider losing Brunner a major blow to depth.

All I'm saying is there most certainly is room for magical combinations in this series and it can make a difference. That and maybe Mrazek.

#2596876 Sharks & McLellan part ways

Not going to happen although I would like it if Babcock walks. Koala is not going from one retooling organization to another :(

I find it funny that you have no problem stating that Tippett is going to be fired (something that is impossible), yet you have no porblem saying that McLellan coming to Detroit is "not going to happen" (something that is quite possible). Get real.

Also, I hate to break it to you, but your beloved Beastly Bears of the East have some retooling to do themselves, and have just demonstrated by firing their GM that they treat their staff like crap, and show zero loyalty. Why would McLellan or anyone want any par of that?

McDavid under the Koala watch out NHL western conference

said someone 5 years from now, if Edmonton are lucky.

I think McLellan returning to Detroit makes all kinds of sense.

Just depends on if he's still available after Babcock/Holland makes their decisions. Timing will be important.

I think the coaching free agent frenzy will actually be more exciting than players. How crazy is that.

#2596843 Smith in. Marchenko out for Game 3

Posted by rick zombo on 20 April 2015 - 12:26 PM

I will say this, Smith has shown in the past that he can be more physical then what I saw from Marchenko. That might help.

Plus it puts DeKeyser and Quincey back together. If they can regain mid-season form, then that's a real bonus.

Trying to stay positive here.

Too many defensive mistakes in the neutral zone in game 2.

The solution? Brendan Smith. :eh:

Wonder why Fil never did that here.

Considering his skin makes him look like the old lady in the window from There's Something About Mary, I'd say he just needed more sunlight?

If Abdlekader is back next game, Babcock has to go:

Helm - Datsyuk -Tatar
Nyquist - Zetterberg -Abdlekader
Andersson - Sheahan - Jurco
Miller - Glendenning - Ferraro

And you can make excuses for his system all you want, but if you get the same exact result for five or six years (despite your roster) suggests maybe you need a new approach.

Seemed to work well for Washington and Nashville so far.  Why is it so hard to believe that maybe there's a coach out there who's system is more suited for the roster we already have?

The other option is to fire the GM, team President, scouts, trainers, prospect developers...and replace them with a more Babcockian alternative.  Which is brilliant if it weren't for the fact that Ken Holland's organizational philosophy wasn't DRAMATICALLY more effective than Mike Babcock's.

For the millionth time.  Babcock is a good coach.  But he's not the right coach for this team.  Get someone else, or get the same results.

Totally agree. It's funnyb to me how the media pumps up Babcock and take this automatic tone that Babcock's going to leave the Wings for a better team. Maybe so. But maybe, just maybe, management wants a change as much or more than Babcock does.....
