#2517870 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Posted by rick zombo on 28 April 2014 - 12:17 AM

If you want to build your team around Nyq and Tatar go ahead. See you in the Draft, Edmonton #2

Then he better take a big discount. Like 3 a year or less. We need more important pieces than a soft and old Alfie.

We need to trade for great players.

Ah yes. Why didn’t I realize that?

“Hey everybody. It’s all good. Relax. Holland just has to trade for some great players and everything will be fine"

Helen St. James is usually just an echo of Holland. As in, she usually just repeats things he tells her.

This is important to understand because she indicating that the only UFA the Wings are concerned about bringing back is Alfredsson.

I tend to agree with this.

nyquist and tatar have been absolutely useless.

Much like Datsyuk and Zetterberg were early in their careers.

#2515641 Wings Roster great on paper ?

Posted by rick zombo on 24 April 2014 - 10:45 PM

i just thought that if our roster was fully fit and all the guys were in their prime days it wouldn't be too bad,

in fact it could probably go all the way. this is what Kenny was probably thinking.............

Zetterberg  Datsyuk  Alfredsson

Samuelsson  Legwand  Bertuzzi

Franzen  Weiss  Cleary

Abdelkader  Helm  Tootoo

Kronwall  Ericsson

DeKeyser  Smith

Quincey  Kindl

Howard Gustavsson

Wha? Are you saying Kenny was probably thinking Sammy, Bert, and Cleary were still in their prime days?

Because I guarantee he wasn’t thinking that.

And right now, on paper, that roster sucks ***.

Why is Bert in..guy only uses one hand half the time..ughh

He's been saving the other hand for the playoffs.

God, if we make it out of the Boston series I can't wait to play Pittsburgh.

We'd have to play the Habs first though.

I'll change it, but I'm inferring he'll play.

For sure. It looks like he'll play. I agree. Just not confirmed 100% official.

I agree. We've been down before, but this is the first time I really have no hope. I think it's because they look beaten in their demeanor. I've never seen the Wings look so defeated so early in a series. I thought the kids would be all determined and relentless with their never-say-die attitude. But they look completely opposite of the way they looked in the season. Also, I'm really tired of them shooting weakly from bad angles, or intentionally missing the net from the point. It doesn't work if no one is there to grab the bouncing puck. They're not just playing badly, they look like an entirely different team than the past month and that worries me. I'm not worried about the kids. Datsuk and Zetterberg struggled early in their careers with their first few playoff campaigns. I watched them both get manhandled in 2004 by Regehr and Leopold (and we were the higher seed). Then they got stronger. Physically and mentally.

I don't really see a whole lot of 'blaming only Howard' for this loss like some are claiming. It's more holding him accountable for his mistakes.

If you're going to say that "other people shouldn't be blaming only one person (Howie), because the team as a whole is playing poorly and you're letting them off the hook."

Then you shouldn't turn around and say "the whole team isn't playing well, but I'm going to let Howard off the hook for his own contributions to this debacle and hold all of the skaters to a higher standard."

You're doing the exact same thing. There's plenty of blame to go around and EVERYBODY (skaters, goalie, coaches, GM) should be held responsible for their parts in this.

That’s all very meta.

You hate Howard. You set up permanent camp in this thread (the Howard = Average one)

So don’t try to wax intellectual, just so you can crap on Howard a little more. That’s not productive.

I'm probably the only one here that thinks Howard has been our best player through the 3 games. Yes he wasn't great in game 2, but mainly the first goal was the problem. Tonight is not on Howard, how many times do you have to rob a team for your team you not give you any goal support.... Howard has been our best player and most consistent. Just the facts... Everyone else has had a good couple shifts here or there and that's it...

If our MVP of this series was names today... It would be Jimmy Howard... The one guy everyone is blaming the most.

This is actually true. HOLY s***

So if Carey Price was our goalie, we'd have won two games by a score of 1-0, and lost the other game by a score of 1-0.

Let me get this straight. His 2.5 GAA average behind a much better defence is a number far superior to Howard’s 2.00 GAA behind Kronwall, DeKeyser, and the four town drunks (although I like Smith)?

Or wait, could it be that le horseshoe (that’s french for horseshoe) landed squarely on Montreal and Price’s lap when Bishop couldn’t start and instead they got Gumby?

If you've got an analytical mind and you really want to piss yourself off, mosey on over to the box score and have a look at the ice times for various Red Wings.  Here's a couple fun things that stand out...

1.  Jurco and Legwand nearly had as little 5-on-5 ice time as Shawn Thornton:  If these two didn't run a train on Bab's wife to get in his doghouse, they probably should now so they'll at least deserve the punishment.

2.  Andersson, 8:17 seconds:  If you aren't going to play him why call him up?  Surely Bertuzzi is better than Andersson for 8 minutes a night.

3.  Kindl, 18:02:  Lol.

4. Legwand, 15 shifts:  2 more than Jordan Caron, Boston's worst player.  7 fewer than Brian Lashoff, our worst player.

This whole thing is just insane. Babs is just bracing Jurco and Kindl for next year, when a) Jurco is back in GRs and b) Kindl is on the 2nd pairing.  :w00t:

Dudes!! I’m very much afraid that blaming Howard for this loss or the loss in the last game puts us very definitively in "Leaf-Land". Toronto blamed Reimer for their epic meltdown.

Do we really want to start acting like Leaf fans?  :blind:

The truth is, the Leafs missed the playoffs, not because of Reimer, Phanuef, or Clarkson. They missed because, as a team, they were soft between the ears, lacked character, and leadership.

Now Detroit’s problems don’t run this deep obviously, but maybe we’re down 2-1 to Boston because of team play.

Also, the Bruins just might be the better team.

He must be hurt. That's the easiest way to explain his poor play.

Marchand is an elite pest and crease crasher, I wish Detroit had a guy like him.

I don't.

We did.
