#2561798 Nashville has yet to lose 2 games in a row this season

Posted by rick zombo on 08 January 2015 - 12:30 PM

Well that was before the team got gutted.  That's my point.  He started going downhill in Philly right around the time Holmgren did the following:

Traded Bobrovsky for a 2nd, 4th, and 4th.

Traded Carter for Voracek, 1st, and 3rd

Traded Richards for Simmonds, B.Schenn, 2nd

Traded Van Riemsdyk for Luke Schenn.

Signed Brzygalov to a nine year deal (lol)

All of which wouldn't look quite so bad if not for three things.  1) Hindsight.  2)  You just went to the finals, why are you blowing up your team?  3)  The Flyers are terrible at player development.

The only trade I like of that bunch was the Carter deal. The rest of those trades resemble what Holland's body of work would look like, over this same time period, if LGWers had their way.

#2561778 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

@Jesusberg. No, I would not trade Smith for Green in the current situation, and I'd still be very hesitant, even if we knew he would resign. I would trade Smith for Yandle although it would obviously take more than that.

When anyone uses the word "untouchable", it doesn't mean, they wouldn't trade said player in any circumstance. Of course I would trade Smith for Weber or Stamkon, etc, etc, or Yandle... But I mean, in a Holland trade, yes Smith is untouchable for me...

Smith for Yandle and Hanzal then?

With Franzen and Jurco injured, and likely to miss the game on Saturday as well, I hope Pulkkinen gets the call.

I'd like to see something along the lines of...

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader

Tatar - Datsyuk - Pulkkinen

Helm - Sheahan - Weiss

Miller - Glendening - Cleary

I'd be OK with keeping Tatar, Datsyuk , and Helm together and giving Teemu a big center to play with.

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader

Tatar - Datsyuk - Helm

Weiss- Sheahan - Pulkkinen

Miller - Glendening - Cleary

Weiss and Sheahan both like going to the net and they are excellent passers in tight. I could see Pulkinnen getting some room to shot.

Kahn think Pulkinnen may get his shot, with the injuries to Franzen and Jurco

I've come to appreciate Drew Miller a lot more this year, which is kind of funny considering offensively he can't buy one.

He and Glendenning have been downright heroic on the PK.

Aaaaand Pulkkinen makes it 8 goals in 8 games, or is it 9 in 9?  I can't keep track at this point.

Pure offensive dynamo. He'd look soooooo good on Glendenning's wing :)

#2561436 Nyquist Fined for Diving/Embellishment

I don't know.  Kesler could use some more finesse to his dives as well.

Ha. Thd 2nd one is the source of that great collection of Kesler dive gifs.

That's why I referred to him as Tumbleweed in an earlier post.

I think there's a pretty big difference between saying all players will get away with as much as they can, and saying all players will trap a guy's stick between their legs, jump straight up in the air, and fall down as if shot.

What worries me is that Nyquist essentially got fined for being bad at diving. If he was a real pro like Kesler, we wouldn't even be talking about this right now.

How'd Weiss look last night?  It's a little disappointing he didn't show up on the stat sheet with the extra minutes, but wonder if he was still noticeable out there.

Probably our best player along with Tatar and Datsyuk.

Yeah. Weiss looked great.

I can see why he might fail Babcock's "eye test" because he's not hard or heavy on the puck at all. Or even looking at possesion numbers, he might not fair well because he doesn't keep the puck for long. He makes plays quickly. Quick short pasees, things like this.

But when you play him with skilled players (as was the case last night) you can see that his hands and IQ are top notch.

aint Justin Schultz and UFA at the end of this season? or is he an RFA? im sure we we're in for him when he was

a FA after his NCAA days. 76 pts in 161 games from the blueline is appealling but that -47 dont look too good.

-47 LOL

Schultz makes Mike Green look like Chris Pronger

Quincy goal was great. Wings should have won and did. No complaints really. Just win baby.

You sure you're a Wings fan?

Yeah, they did a bang up job tonight by only barely "not losing" to the worst team in history.  The Oilers are only slightly better than District 5, sans Gordon Bombay AND Adam Banks.

Come on. Give the fluky goalie you’ll never hear much from ever again some credit.

Whelp, glad we won but man what a stinker of a game.  If we keep playing like this we're a lock to get into the playoffs...and promptly sent home.  The guys need to shape up.  Bad.

Hey. What did you think of that play where Quincey wasn’t trying to not lose?  :w00t:
