#2554807 Jonathan Bernier - Nelson Mandela Comments

Posted by rick zombo on 08 December 2014 - 11:29 AM

Stupid question in my mind. I mean, he knew the guy was famous and that's more than enough. Same thing here I know Mandela was famous but not why had to search it myself so a total nonstory.

It's like asking a hockeyplayer about a famous athlete from another sport. The guys should focus on hockey and that's all that counts, some reporters these days jesus..

Wait. Did you just excuse Bernier of his ignorance because you also didn't know who Mandela was?

And this "hockey players" should only focus on hockey thing is complete crap, by the way. I'd expect these people to have, at least, a general f****** clue about what's going on outside of the sport. I guarantee that Bernier knows who Miley Cyrus is, for example,  FFS.

#2554799 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Posted by rick zombo on 08 December 2014 - 11:06 AM

No doubt the RW's O is playing well. We are healthy and playing mostly at home vs. weak teams. Keep piling up the points while we can. We all know this will turn later on. We have a 7 out of 9 road game stretch coming up soon. can we play .500 or better on the road? If we do we will have a nice points total at the end of the year-baring major injuries of course.

Just curious. When you say "we", are you really trying to speak for all Wings fans, or just the ones that "knew" that this team was a "borderline playoff team" before the season started?

He's a hockey player, I didn't expect him to be politically correct and informed - some of those guys live and breathe hockey from the time they can balance on skates as toddlers.   He might be one of them.  I feel sort of bad that he got embarrassed (if in fact this did embarrass him).

The man should still know who Nelson Mandela is.

Big game for Mantha and big game for the griffins. Seems like every game I miss Mantha has a good game.

Keep staying away

Helm ain't going anywhere.. No way Holland is that dumb, or is he!??

Helm is untouchable. He is the kind of player teams need to win. Holland would be asking Babs to leave if he were to trade Helm.

He's the definition of a perfect 3rd line center. Don't move him, build around him.

I agree with these statements. The trade comment was just af****** joke by the way. I figured that was obvious even without the ninja face emoticon. Sheeesh.

That being said, I’d still trade him for a top pairing D man.   :ninja:  :ninja:

They killed two 5 on 3's. One was almost a minute long, then no time later another almost 2 full minutes.

And for one of those, Miller was without a stick for about 20 seconds. That was a crazy time in my life.

They gave Helm a lot of props for his speed and the nice goal. I think that he's not as unknown/underrated as people think he is around the league.

Good. That will help nicely when we try and trade him as part of a deal for Yandle.  :ninja:

If the Wings somehow find that elusive top-four righty d-man, they can hang with anyone in this league. Never thought I would say that two months ago, but these guys just continue to impress. A really fun team to watch play.

Imagine what a few shootout wins would have done as well.

Jimmy “Lost Boy” Howard looking pretty f******  awesome out there.

Howard looks lost right now.

Yeah I know. He’s really letting this all-star defensive squad down right now. Kindl would be a lock for the Norris if Howard didn’t suck so much.

#2554090 Oilers schedule presser tomorrow

Posted by rick zombo on 05 December 2014 - 01:26 PM

Hall should walk into Mac T's office this afternoon and demand a trade. It might be the best thing that happened to the Oilers in a long time. Would force them to act instead of pointing fingers at whos to blame. Sad times for Oilers fans.

To Detroit.

#2553746 Babcock "I don't think it will be my final year here"

Posted by rick zombo on 04 December 2014 - 03:57 PM

To be fair the 2005-2006 team has been blowing it in playoffs every year since 2002.

When Bowman retired, we had a series of great teams and early exit stinkers year after year. It is when we finally got Babs things started to turn things back around for the better. We got lucky. The best coach in the business wanted to come here. Lets just hope he wants to stay. Because once he leaves, there isn't another Babcock to take his place.

True this.

Babcock doesn't get all the credit though. Holland adjusted to the post-cap world more quickly and efficiently than most teams, signed Rafalski, and started to reap the rewards of shrewd drafting (Zetterberg, and Datsyuk).

Actually, who are we kidding. It was all Lidstrom.

Babs all cash in and getting a chance to choose from a lot of teams, where some are contenders. Also the guy wants a fair say in signing decisions if he doesn't get it here, super Mario is for sure going to provide that also. Personally I think he'll leave and by then the retool will turn into a rebuild (only one year too late for McEichel). People who don't like him will get their wish and he'll take home a few cups with the Pens or Blues

Yes. He could only win one here from 2006-10 when this team was great. But, of course, in your world he'll win at least THREE with another team.
