I bet a million dollars that Holland thinks the top six is Ok.
He's preaching lack-of-depth. Sure to s***, the only thing he'll do is add a guy like Phalsson to the bottom six and then start the media spin about a healthy Helm and Eaves, and promotion of Nyquist and Smith.
When in reality he needs to add an all star winger to the top six, two wreckers on the bottom six, a top four defenseman, and a veteran back- up.
It's obvious reading this thread that LGWers agree.
Nashville in 4. Our Defense is weak, we have forwards that turn the damn puck over all the time, along with defensive errors over and over. Oh yeah, our Powerplay is nonexistant and they happen to have the best power play at home. Did I mention the fact this team is 17-21-3 on the damn road................... Game, Set, Match. Sorry Folks.
I never said it shouldn't have been a penalty. I'm saying Backes is either really really soft, or he embellished. The blood probably came from hitting his chin on the diving board.
Should have been two mintues to Franzen for the swat, two minutes to Backes for misconduct or whatever you want to call it.
You're singling out Olczyk...a former Hawk.
In general, the national guys love to talk about how great the Wings are.
Emmerick was constantly praising the skill of Detroit and Datsyuk more specifically during last night's game. I'm not saying they aren't worthy of praise, but it's weird to hear Wings fans say how the national media guys root against Detroit, when that just isn't the case from what I have seen.
I didn't mention Emmerick. He's a play-by-play guy. He sticks to the facts. It's the color guys (Piere and Olczyk) that spin things.
Ok...yeah...he was faking. You're right. What was I thinking?
Well, you're in a tough position. You either have to admit that a) Backes is a Thorton-class diver or b) after chirping Datsyuk like a punk, he got physically owned by a big soft noodle man pansy without even remotely trying to defend himself at the time, or later in the game.
Tough spot to be in as a Blues fan. Par for the course today I suppose.
A certain Blues fan predicts a non-caring Blues team will beat a desperate Wings team 3-1.
I predict Franzen tries so hard that he skates around the ice at blazing speads creating a vortex that sucks up Hitchcock like Schwarzenegger's vaccum and then the entire Blues team forgets how to skate without DonutMan's mind control powers.
But the Blues will still win 3-1 because they're that good.
/I'm done now.
In all seriousness, I hope for a good effort by the Wing's tonight.
Call it whatever you want. But I doubt evening up the season series is much of a concern for St. Louis right now. With where they are in the standings, why would they care that much about that?
There is a slim chance the Blues can still win the conference, so I guess they do have that to play for, but that probably won't happen. The most important things for the Blues right now are to get some of the guys back from injury into playoff shape and to of course to stay healthy.
Sure, it would be nice to win this game, and believe me, I love a Blues victory over the Wings whenever we can get it, and I'd love to win this game for a couple reasons...but in the end, this game has no bearing on where the Blues will finish, so it would not shock me if the Red Wings come out and take this game...however, that would still piss me off.
Honestly, if the Blues come out and take it to Detroit, I'd be concerned if I were a Wings fan. Detroit SHOULD want this game a whole lot more than St. Louis. But I guess that's why they play the games.
I find no one annoying. The Blues have been playing each game this year like it was a playoff game. Pedal to the medal every night. They are the team that is playing like they have something to prove. That's why they're first in the central (it's pretty obvious the Wings have taken AT LEAST a dozen games off as a team this year). Now you're going to suggest that the savvy, veteran Wings team who, in the grand scheme of things, have little to prove to themselves or the league, are going to bust a nut tonight with the real hockey season just around the corner? While the young, exhuberant, Blues team will lay back for a game for the first time this year? Talk about a spin.
This would be nice, however I doubt he would come here.
The Wings would offer him the chance to earn a shot. Other teams will offer him a roster spot instantly. When you are a Hobby-Baker finalist and as speculated THE THIRD BEST FA THIS SUMMER>?!?!? (per McKenzie) I wonder how receptive he would be to maybe making the team.
If they added him and Suter without losing anyone but Stuart...
They would have Lids, White, Suter, Kronner, Ericsson, Smith, Kindl, Schultz, and Quincey
That is at least two extra...
I sure am glad we traded a first for Quincey!!!
That one article suggests he would be RFA...
Would the Wings want to do that?
Yeah who would want a solid #3-4 d-man when they could roll the dice with a late 1st rounder or gift-wrap a spot in the top six to a college kid who has never played a game in the NHL?
