#2520667 Shero & Bylsma Fired

Posted by rick zombo on 15 May 2014 - 02:23 PM

I heard that rumor too.  Babcock would be a good fit for the Pens and he needs a fresh start.

Don't know where the Wings would then look, with Laviolette already being hired elsewhere.  Not too many proven winners around.

We'll just take Tippett or someone like that, already on contract. Apparently according to Pittsburgh and Toronto meida you can do that.

Coach has one year left in his deal? s*** bro no prahblem, he'll just rip that s*** up for an opprotunity to coach the Leafs or Penguins.

Go whichever team can beat the Hawks

I wish we had a team that could partake in a series like this

I’d rather get back the team from 08 that swept the Avs with Franzen’s 9 goals and Z’s helicopter goal. The one that had TPH and Rafalski on it.

Just, you know, since we’re wishing for things.

While I would think that hilarious to see Shero and Bylsma out the door, I'm secretly wishing they stay. It's become blatantly obvious that they won't win with those two at the helm, so why shouldn't we hope they keep their jobs?

I swear to holy hell, I was just thinking this exact thing.

Favorite thing about this?

Not having to deal with certain members of this Red Wings forum swing their boners around about the Bruins and how we need to abandon decades of organizational philosophy to be more like the big bad bears.

Speed, skill, good special teams, and plain old fashion desire win out.

Wow, Kane.

I hate that little bastard so much, but his skill and level of clutch-ness are elite.

probably drunk.

#2520120 Spezza?

Posted by rick zombo on 12 May 2014 - 12:15 PM

I really like Spezza great player, great center put into an absolute horrible situation (taking over from the best player this franchise ever had) and dealing with an owner who doesn't want to spend in order to improve the team. Anyway, I really hope we are staying away from him the Wigns are more than a Spezza awayfrom competing for the cup and it would for sure cost one of Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar for a guy who will be UFA after this year.

Cowen on the other hand yes please :-)

I'd trade for Cowen only to tie him to an exercise machine of some sort, and let Datsyuk elbow him in the chin until his eyelashes fell out.

#2520117 Phaneuf being shopped?

Posted by rick zombo on 12 May 2014 - 12:12 PM

I would rather see Holland sign Samuelson to a 10 year extension than have Phaneuf on this team.

#2520100 Spezza?

Posted by rick zombo on 12 May 2014 - 10:47 AM

Might as well sign Legwand without trading any assets. Spezza produces slightly more offense but the physical upgrade is not great.

Bingo. And they're leaning towards letting Legwand walk.

I'd much rather use a Spezza-type package and go after a D man.

Their GM knows how to build a team and make proper trade deadline acquisitions.

It’s true. Just look at all the cups he’s won!!!!

I wish Holland knew how to do that.

#2519431 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Posted by rick zombo on 06 May 2014 - 01:40 PM

Hull was pre-cap. And he was a complimentary player. Back then you could pay a 4th line winger 5M and only have to answer to Mr. Illitch. Remember the year that Detroit was paying something like 12M on goalies alone (with Cujo + Hasek + Legace)?

Today, if you're going to tie 1/8 of your team's salary to just one player, he better have at least some sort of pulse when he's on the "other" side of center ice. I don't care how many goals he can score.

Pre-cap? Give me Ovechkin any day of the week. Hell, I'll take two.

#2519412 Babcock - Jack Adams Finalist

Posted by rick zombo on 06 May 2014 - 12:29 PM

Babcock deserves the Jack Adams for coaching a team with a bunch of injuries into the playoffs, but Blysma coached a team with more injuries into a better playoff position AND won a round and he didn't even get nominated?  I don't get it.

It doesn't matter that Bylsma won a round. Regular season award.

I think Detroit's injuries (mainly to Z and Datsyuk) were worse.

Also, Crosby's going to win the Hart and Lindsay. That's basically the writers crediting him with Pittsburgh's success.

Plus, even with the injuries, all any voting journalist had to do was look at the rosters to see that Pittsburgh were the better team all season.

Congrats to Babcock, the best coach in hockey.

Too bad the ill-tempered blockhead from Colorado has this locked up.
