Brad Richards @BRichards_1991 50s51 seconds ago

Very Happy and honored to be wearing #17 for Wings after two other P.E. Islanders wore it. Forbe Kennedy and Gerard Gallant.

I'm from Prince Edward Island, and I think this is pretty awesome.

#2619645 Wings‬ sign left wing Eric Tangradi

Call him up everytime they play Toronto and have him punch Kadri in the face repeatedly while staring directly at Babcock.

#2619643 Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16

Posted by rick zombo on 08 July 2015 - 02:24 PM

They lost to Boston yes, but they didn't get embarrassed. Other then a few empty net goals and 1 really bad game the series was close. Tampa is good, they should continue to progress. It's also possible some players had career years, and will take a step back, and as always injuries happen. My point being is that a lot factors into a franchises continued success. Wings at the moment are upper middle of the pack with room to grow, it's not all so bleak.

Other then that, if Mantha and Larkin are ready they should play if not let them continue to develop.

Enough with this positive, optimistic, flower power talk.

#2619546 Nyquist Files For Arbitration

Posted by rick zombo on 07 July 2015 - 11:19 PM

The sad part of Nyquist getting a new deal is that this will probably be the last year of him being a fan favorite, unless of course he significantly improves.

We as a fan base love guys who overproduce for their salary but when they get a salary that's more in line with their production we heap unrealistic expectations on them.

Gus could put up the exact same numbers he's put up the past 2 years and because he'd be making 4-5 million a season instead of his current .95 million a year it will be seen as not good enough

If he has another couple playoffs like his first couple, he'll be in the doghouse with Franzen.

Well said and very true.

But I remember Datsyuk getting railed for sub-par playoffs early in his career. Even after he had won a cup in 2002. The criticism was justified. He and Zetterberg were both too easy to handle vs Anaheim in 03, Calgary in 04, and Edmonton in 06. They never really figured out how to score on the road until 08.

I have no problem with Goose making 4-5M. I expect him to start showing sings adjusting to the playoffs during one of his next two appearances in the post season. It took Zetterberg and Datsyuk three and four tries, respectively, to really figure out the playoffs.

#2619470 EC on paper for 15/16.....

Posted by rick zombo on 07 July 2015 - 02:35 PM

I agree about Ottawa.

I also think the Habs rode a hot goalie ALL season. Price is going to have a mortal year and the Habs don't have the line-up to be any better than the 6-8th spot.

Pittsburgh will miss, Boston will miss.

Florida's not quite there yet. Neither are the Sabres.

Columbus will make it in.

Hopefully Detroit has home ice in the first round, but I'll settle for making it in.

Going to be tight

In typical LGWs fashion, the thread about the Richards signing has more pages than the Mike Green one.

What number will he wear?

Like left-winger said, let's hope it's not 90. That number should be retired, and not in a good way.

#2618331 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by rick zombo on 01 July 2015 - 04:13 PM

Babs leaves and we hit the market lol. Nice to see that we get one of the bigger fish in this years free agents.

Exactly. TSN had Green listed as THE top UFA. Maybe that will shut the media up for a bit about no one wanting to come to Detroit.

Zetterberg datsyuk abdelkader
Tatar sheahan nyquist
Helm glendening pulkkinen
Jurco anderssen miller

Ferraro Franzen + richards ? = 15 guys ... Doesn't include Callahan, larkin or another rookie having a chance of getting in

So if we get richards who gets dealt? Anderssen and? I hope we don't sacrifice a pulkkinen/jurco for a miller

Not even when Babcock was coach. Certainly not with Blashill. He's probably got big plans for Pulkinnen and Jurco.

Except he hadn't just won the Cup.

Meh. He'd be a depth signing. Still good on the PP. And waaaaay better than Cleary.

#2618281 Now for a #2 C.

Posted by rick zombo on 01 July 2015 - 03:40 PM

Just thinking out load here. the BL is set. the one big are of need is a #2 C/big RHed winger. As of right now it is easy to see the following lineup:

Z-datsyuk-Abby

Nyquist-open-tatar

Jurco-Sheahan-Pulks

Anderson-Glendening-Miller

ferraro-open

Dekeyser-Green

Kronwall-Ericsson

Smith-marchenko

Lashoff or Kindl

Howard/Mrazek

We could keep 8 d or move Kindl/KFQ. If Z is the #2 C then we need a top 6 winger. What we don't have is a big RHed physical guy that scores. We also have helm who is kinda without a true position. he is a checking C when used correctly, but Glendening does the same job for 1/3 the price. We also have the cap room for a big contract.

Thoughts? Hopes? Dreams?

Why do people keep forgetting about Helm? Also, Franzen could be in the line-up opening night.

#2618185 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Maybe we don't get him if Babs is still here. Who knows what kind of influence he would have.

Maybe we don't get him because he wouldn't want to come here and play as a 3rd pairing shut-down D man while having his balls busted on a daily basis.

#2618177 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by rick zombo on 01 July 2015 - 03:03 PM

Short term gives him incentive to play well. He could very well have a career year or two with the Wings.

Also: LOL suck it Babcock!!!!!!!!!!! You leave, and finally a RHed D wants to come play for the Wings.

Good deal. Not concerned about the money. Great term.
