#2532795 Dekeyser/Tatar status update

I'd be shocked if either player signs for more than 3M per.

The guy who couldn't crack the Florida Panthers lineup?

Sorry, Quincey > Whitney

Quincey's probably better than all three of those guys.

If we lose either one purely for money I'd call this the worst offseason since two decades.

Not going to happen.

#2532729 Dekeyser/Tatar status update

Posted by rick zombo on 21 July 2014 - 05:03 PM

I'm worried about both of them. The way this offseason has gone for the Wings has me honestly very worried about the Holland term "fair deals". If I'm Dekeyser's agent and the deal is a joke compared to the one Quincey got well he wouldn't hear back from me too soon either and once he he does my counter-offer would start at the 4 mill ballpark I really believe Dekeyser has earned it.

I'm not worried about either of them. Sure Holland's been munching on his own stones a bit with UFA dealings, but he's always been great when it comes to signing his own RFA deals.

#2532493 Babcock Interview on 105.1 this morning

Posted by rick zombo on 18 July 2014 - 01:58 PM

I think there are several better coaches than Babs, including Quenneville.  There are also several coaches who are "as good" as Babs.  It wasn't unanimous that he was "the best" until he won the Olympic gold, which is more a function of the Canadian media collectively embracing him than anything else.  Also, it's not like Sutter or Quenneville (or Julien, Tippett, or Hitchcock) would have lost to Latvia had they been picked in his stead.

He's a top five coach.  But the proof is in the pudding.  And despite some VERY good teams, his ring fingers are a little light.

Fair enough.

For me, the only time I take Quenville over Babcock would have been this past season. Only because I'd rather have had a top 5 pick in the draft than squeak in to he playoffs with an AHL roster. ;)

I really like the news on Zetterberg.

You know, if you're into being positive and stuff.

Where's AussieWing?

#2532140 Alfie wants to play

Posted by rick zombo on 15 July 2014 - 11:27 AM

Where is Alfie going to play? Top line?

Z - Pav - Alfie

Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen

Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar

Helm - Glendening - Abby

Cleary/Andersson

That doesn't look bad bad, but our D is atrocious...and our goaltending is average at best.

Someone should start a thread about this..............

#2532133 Alfie wants to play

I have no problem bring Alfie back for 1 year. This team will have enough injuries that Jurco will probably play most of theseason in Detroit. Mantha will get a look too.

As for the jokes about Glendenning taking Jurco's minutes? Luke will never see the third line and unless he plays the wing, he could be the odd man out most nights, despite Babcock's man-crush. And if anyone wants Jurco playing on the 4th line vs 1st line minutes in GRs then you need an examination of some sort.

#2532100 Renney out, Granato in

Posted by rick zombo on 14 July 2014 - 11:21 PM

At least someone finally chose Detroit  :scared:

Babcock:

"It was an interesting process. I was surprised we could get him. He met with three other teams first. We let him do that. We were excited he chose to be a Red Wing. It worked out well."

#2531568 McCollum signed.

Howard - Monster

Mrazek - McCollum

Coreau - Patterson

That's a pretty decent tandem at every level.

#2530591 Hockey News: Red Wings D hunting

Posted by rick zombo on 08 July 2014 - 11:59 AM

This is just me being a fanboy.  But I'm always ok with the idea of "going with Sproul".  This kid is going to be the next Doughty.  He was an absolute steal.  Size, speed, shot, athleticism, smarts.  I legitimately think he'll be a better player than Mantha even, but that's just me.

Anyway, back on topic.  Green would help, but I'd definitely not trade too much to get him.  AND it would be wise to dump salary where you could to offset the acquisition (Kindl and Andersson).

I think Sproul's going to be good too.

We have some legit D prospects and it's awesome. Which is precicely why, for once, I think they should stay buried in GRs for as long as possible.

The irony is that Washington used Detroit's 1st round pick from the Lang trade to draft Green.

#2530408 What's best for Mantha?

Posted by rick zombo on 07 July 2014 - 12:56 PM

I'd almost rather Mantha spend the year in GRs.

Wait until Babcock moves on, then bring him up next year.

Otherwise, Babs will ruin this kid's offence while trying to make him realgud like his boy Glendenning
