Thank you, I figured that it is the least you can do to honour both players respected by the fans and organization without having to cease usage of the number until the end of time. Take the number out of circulation for X number of years, in this case, based on their jersey number. Though when you apply this to somebody like Fedorov (91 years out of circulation) it gets a bit out of hand...for a player of his caliber it's not such a bad idea. I am a little curious about what the league intends to do down the road when retired numbers are becoming the norm or are given out like candy on Halloween (Vancouver-> Naslund, Colorado->Bourque) I think they should have a 10 year out-of-circulation honour or something. A temporary gesture to acknowledge their duties with the team as well as allowing others to use the number in the distant future too. Makes me wonder if taking Gretzky's '99' out of circulation for every team he hasn't played for, for 99 years would have been a better idea than to retire it for the rest of time

Take it out of circulation for 24 years?

Having lived in London myself I can only Certify that this is 100% correct. I drove the 'boni at the Western Fair Rink and having talked to anybody who knew anything about the guy, had nothing but terrible things to say about him and his 'off-ice persona'

I lived in London Ont for a few years (he played Junior with the London Knights) and I have heard countless stories of him showing up at the bars, buying a bottle of Greygoose to chill on and would be overheard name-dropping to pick up; along the lines of "Hey I'm Corey Perry, I play for the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL"... As well as it had probably worked (who really knows) it's pretty douchebag-like of a move. Also heard he's had his ugly mug filled in with a few lefts at the bars for s*** talking. This kind of behaviour only deteriorates my perception of such an individual, so f*** em!

What a joke. Definitely trying to play it up for the milestone (40th season) next year. This all but says that either one or both of the Sedins are getting their numbers retired as well.

It's likely he siphoned it from a sports broadcaster or journalist in an attempt to appear intelligent. The thread opener lasted all but two sentences.
