I think Larkin would make us a better team but him getting experience being one of the best players in the AHL and possibly a calder cup run would make him a better player. I have no doubt he would be an impact NHL player right now though
So then why not let him? That's what I don't get about those saying he's better off in the A playing top line minutes. Playing 3-4th line minutes in Detroit he's:
A) Lining up against players better than 1st line AHL players
B) Learning from our veterans, and other team's veterans
C) Already a large upgrade over Andersson and, probably, the oft-injured Darren Helm
Holland's a stubborn old goat. Who hasn't the kid impressed? Let him play.
