#2624085 Moving Jimmy Howard

Posted by LeftWinger on 29 August 2015 - 11:42 AM

Taylor Hall for Jimmy! Hahaha....

if you don't have anything to add to the conversation or are here just to troll, then move along.

if you remember, last season when the rumors about Hall being traded went around, an Oiler reporter named a few teams and players that would get a trade done. Detroit was named and the return was Sheahan, Sproul and 1st round pick for Hall & Petry. So laugh all you want, but if that would have been enough then Jimmy, Smith, Sproul and a pick is more than enough for Hall.

But by all means, troll along. BTW, Hossa has 3 Cups since we signed the other guy instead, he is still top line material and would be here scoring 40 goals playing top 3 sniper role. Fact.

I am sure glad someone else made this thread and not me!

Jimmy WILL be moved before 16-17, unless Mrazek totally takes a crap fest this season (which I highly doubt,) because solid tandem or not, Holland cannot and will not have over $8M (at least) tied up in his goalies.  And that is IF Mrazek re-signs for only $3M.  If he wins 25+ games and takes them into the 2nd round at least, I see him getting closer to $4M. NO WAY will Holland have that much money tied up in goalies.

For all you Holland slappies out there (and even me from a financial standpoint) you better hope that Howard outplays and keeps his starting job all season and limits Petr's starts to 20 or less.  That way, Petr may re-sign for something around $2M, which could keep Jimmy around for another season. But then again, if Petr goes 17-3 or so in those 20 starts and Jimmy DOES re-gain his #1 form, that could mean more in return for him next summer.

Either way, as Mrazek continues his progression the way he has been, Jimmy's days are dwindling, that is the truth. Lets just hope we can get great value for him when it comes times to trade him....and he cooperates by listing 10 or so teams he will or won't go to.

In Edmonton, I would love to see him Packaged with Smith and Sproul and a pick (or maybe a young forward) to acquire one of their scorers (Taylor Hall maybe.)

#2623995 What's your roster lines ?

Posted by LeftWinger on 28 August 2015 - 12:13 PM

barring a trade, I choose Smith and Kindl. Why? Because unless our #6 guy is traded,I don't see Xo or March coming up to be the #7 guy, and Kindl seems like he wouldn't mind being the #7 guy rotating in and out of the lineup. I would prefer to dump 2 of Smith, Q and E, then bring up XO and March, I'd even try to dump Kindl and bring up Jensen as well. But, ya, I know...

DD - Green

Kronner - Marchenko

Smith - XO

Kinda small lineup now that I look at it..maybe just dump E and K and wait until Q is gone next season for the 3rd kid to come up...reality is, with the contracts we have, we aren't going to have room on the team for all 4 of the kids. Trades MUST be made.  But while waiver exemptions are still an option this season, I see the lineup being:

DD - Green

Kronner - E

Smith - Q

I know this thread is all relative, but Pulk as a 14th forward? He is sure to reach his potential there...

may as well just leave him off the roster as one of the "trades." Rather than waste him there.

#2623108 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by LeftWinger on 13 August 2015 - 05:59 PM

Well you see I did say, I predict....not that it will happen.  Don't wanna open up another one of those son's, brother's, uncle, daddy, sister's dog catcher debates!

But since we're in the subject......just kidding!

#2623080 Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Posted by LeftWinger on 13 August 2015 - 04:15 PM

This reminds me when the Wings poached Coffey out of LA for fallen center-man Carson.  He was pure offense, D was a bit of a question.  Not to worry, Coffey scored so much here that he won a Norris during his time.  Green has been close to winning before, but I predict that he WILL win a Norris within his three year contract.  I also predict he will never leave Detroit, he will retire a Red Wing.

...besides, most players who sign here or are traded here do.  That is the difference between this franchise and most others, we treat our players so well that they usually never leave. Welcome to Detroit, again, Mike Green.  It was inevitable that you come here, and now you will see what its like to play for the best sports franchise in the World!

No offense Danny, you're my boy, but it looks like you got into a fight with a weed whip! Did you lose a bet or something?

Also, look no further than my own avatar to see a very nice mullet! He can wear it because he's Roddy Piper and you're not!

What is failed to been realized here is, its really not whether or not Mrazek is better than Jimmy (which he is) its the fact that the Red Wings cannot and will not have two goalies on the roster making $5M each after this season...when considering the future and the talent/age of each player, Jimmy will be the one to be dealt, not Petr.

...so anyway, UFA's still be signed, I guess Franson still has a chance!

#2622056 Who is better Nyquist or Tatar?

Yes, he is very diva-esque in that photo.

Tatar is better.

#2621595 Pittsburgh: America's hockey capital? Lol

Posted by LeftWinger on 25 July 2015 - 09:45 PM

when USA hockey decides that Pitt is the place to move their headquarters and hockey operations, then maybe they can call themselves Americas Hockey Capital...but last I checked only southeast Michigan has that. So sorry Pitt. and Minny while we're at it!

#2621549 Remaing RFAs to be signed - Jurco, Pulkkinen, Aubry

Posted by LeftWinger on 25 July 2015 - 08:19 AM

yay! Now we wait for dominoes to fall! Seriously I hope he gets a chance to setup in front on the net on the PP. Imagine him screening and Pulk's 300 MPH slapper from the blueline! Yes!

Its pretty amazing how Cody Franson was all the talk for this UFA season and he still isn't signed anywhere.  Is it that he wants too much money or maybe he just has a couple of teams he wants to play for and is waiting for their financials to work out to see what he can sign for? Who knows!

I know, if he wants to earn at least some money, he can come to Detroit for a 1 year $1M prove himself contract!

#2621382 Pulkkinen re-signs.... 1 year deal

Posted by LeftWinger on 23 July 2015 - 11:35 PM

Brilliant! I didn't even notice the crowd until the 2nd time I looked or it! Awesome! I was searching hard for the famous Hudler face or Doan face, but still absolutely brilliant!
