#2560158 12/31 GDT : Devils 1 at Red Wings 3

Babcock did the same thing to Modano and Legwand.  For some reason he doesn't like to play Holland's main "acquisitions."

Is it a head butting, dick measuring thing? Not sure, but he platooned both the former to the 4th line, even though when given top 6 minutes, they produced.  Weiss is a legit 2nd line center.  He would also be great on the 3rd, between Franzen and Helm.  He doesn't deserve to be demoted to the 4th and if I were him, I would start thinking about waiving that clause in Feb.  Babcock is going to continue to play him on the 4th and continue with Abby (again, no offense to Justin) on the 1st.

Like I said in the GDT, Justin should be on the 4th with Miller and Glenny.  Weiss should be at center between Helm and Franzen.  Nyquist should be playing with Dats and Z.

Helm is making his trade value rise!

Weiss should AT LEAST be 3rd line center.

Why the hell is Weiss on the 4th line? Here we go again Babcock.  He has like a point in every game is he played in and he gets demoted to the 4th line? If only one change Franzen on the 4th line and Helm should move to the wing and Weiss should at least be the #3 center... honestly though, I think that this is how it should go and be very effective:

Zetterberg - Datsyuk- Nyquist

Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco

Franzen - Weiss - Helm

Miller - Glendening - Abdelkader

nothing against Abby, but Nyquist deserves top line minutes (not 3rd) and Weiss is a waste on the 4th.  You could flip flop lines 2 and 3 and it would be ok, but no way Weiss should be on the 4th nor Nyquist on  the 3rd.

Maybe Babcock should go to Toronto...

#2557574 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Is it really that hard to compare Nyquist to Hall?

Even last season Nyquist had 1 more goal than Hall, in 20 less games.  Hall had more assists because he has more goal scorer's around him than Nyquist does.  Thus far this season, Nyquist has 6 more goals and 1 more point than Hall.  I would say if Nyquist was a one year wonder, you'd have an argument that he is nowhere as good as Hall, but if Nyquist would have played 75 games last season (as much as Hall) he would have had 63 points to Hall's 80, again due to the more talent around him in EDM. Plus Hall in a bonafide top line player while Nyquist went from line 3 to line 1 back to line 3 day in and day out. Am I saying that right now Nyquist is just as dynamic or a game changer as Hall is....maybe not, but thus far in his short career, Nyquist is proving that he is another later round gem that is hanging tough with high draft picks.

and you guys know me, I am a diehard North American supporter.  I am defending Nyquist over Hall, not because he is a Red Wing, but because he is keeping pace with a 1st overall draft pick and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

Everyone is going to be surprised what Hall does get traded for...if he does get traded.  I know every GM tries to (and sometimes successfully) rape Holland, but come on, Hall is a great player, but he isn't Sindeyf****** Crosby.  Nyquist + Mantha + Mrazek + more? Some of you are saying Nyquist, Jurco, Dekeyser, Mantha, 1st rounder?  Let's be real here.  First off, Nyquist is only 4 points behind Hall in scoring, with 6 more goals.  He makes $5M less and currently leads the league in PP goals.  Mantha's potential is thru the roof right now, so he would be considered a grade A, blue chip prospect. Dekeyser was coveted by ALL 30 teams and would still bring a pretty hefty return if he were to be traded.  If Holland traded Nyquist, Mantha, Dekeyser and a 1st rounder for someone, it damn well better be a 100+ point franchise player.

Even in my previous posts I admitted that Helm, Smith, Pulkkinen should be enough, but it won't because of the Rape clause when it comes to Holland.  But when and if Hall does get traded, people are going to be very angry that he went for less than the talent of Helm, Smith and Pulkkinen.

You are right though, Edmonton will most definitely asking for Nyquist and Mantha from Holland.  In that case, f*** them.

If Babs has any sense, the next practice will NOT BE OPTIONAL and will be full blown shootouts ONLY.  I don't care if Jimmy pulls a grrrrroin during practice, these guys need to learn to score and he needs to learn how to make af****** shootout save!!!  They should hire a shootout coach...

After the full shootout practice, ladder drills until they puke.....tweet! AGAIN!

lol, 163rd consecutive sellout, Ken says...hey, if you guys buy tickets and don't feel like going, send them to me! Frickin fickle fans...

Helms speed alone makes him one of the best pk'ers on the team. He can kill an entire minute by himself

oh, he is good, that's for sure, but I am not trading Sheahan over Helm. Offensive skills much better and we still have Glenny. IF a trade is needed, Helm is very tradable. I'd rather keep all if them though...

Deja Vu...last season, at or near the top of the league in December. Injuries start to happen (Danny D, Weiss now,) start giving away the extra point when we should be claiming these early points now. Same guys say "at least we got a point" then "just think where we'd be if only we got two more SO points." I don't like it, but lets f'ing hope this doesn't continue the same way it went last season.

BTW, Howard is bad when he is needed. Our guys suck at shootouts, yes even Datsyuk. Franzen is the laziest player in the entire hockey universe. He shows it every fricking game. Lazy shots, lazy dumps, lazy icings, glides around more than he skates.

#2554843 Jonathan Bernier - Nelson Mandela Comments

Posted by LeftWinger on 08 December 2014 - 12:39 PM

What's your opinion on guys like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, or John Adams?

They were criminals against England and treasonous. I understand the reason's behind Mandela's vision, but at the time Communism was the apex of the axis of evil.  I guess what he tried to do was no different than what our fore-fathers did, just a differnet time in history. Other than that, outside of being communist, I guess they had the same goal as Mandela.  I am not saying what he wanted for equality was wrong, just that he wasn't that "good" of a guy.  I really cannot defend our guys any more than I can defend Mandela.  Thank you for making me see the similarities.  And with that I apologize for criminalizing Mandela and makes me wonder even more, how the f*** someone is so clueluss to who this guy was!?!?

p.s. I am not being sarcastic either, I do appreciate the eye opener today!

#2554824 Mantha getting closer.

Posted by LeftWinger on 08 December 2014 - 12:24 PM

I nearly forgot about Anthanasiou.  I can see our future #1 line:

Mantha - Larkin - Anthanasiou

Why would Babcock want to leave this organization with all this talent in the minors? Especially for...bleh....Toronto.

...and we know who to call on if both goalies go down in a game.

#2554795 Jonathan Bernier - Nelson Mandela Comments

Posted by LeftWinger on 08 December 2014 - 10:49 AM

Who cares....the question from the reporter was just as stupid. WTF did Nelson Mandela stand for that would have any affect on Bernier's life or career? It was a dumb ass question to ask a white hockey player.

Besides Mandela was a communist and a criminal to the state.  He was arrested numorous times for sedious activities and tried for treason.

Influenced by Marxism, he secretly joined the South African Communist Party (SACP) and sat on its Central Committee. Although initially committed to non-violent protest, in association with the SACP he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961, leading a sabotage campaign against the apartheid government. In 1962, he was arrested, convicted of conspiracy to overthrow the state, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial.

What happens in America or Canada if you conspire to overthrow the government, you don't get arrested and sentenced to life, your compound gets invaded and you and your "family" end up being killed/murdered and labeled a domestic terrorist, and label your extended friends and family have to liove with the rest of their lives.  You most definitely do not get honored at a sporting event.  And yes, I do believe our government keeps us racially divided as well. But as long as we get to watch the WWE and drink our beer, we don't care what goes on outside our doors.  I understand that Mandela was standing up against his government's position on divind and serpeating the races, and good or him on that, but you stood for a lot of evil things as well that were in his own agenda. -rant over

This has nothing to do with Bernier, but it still was more stupid of the reporter to ask that question to him, than for Bernier to asnwer the way he did.  I will have to admit though, you have to be pretty frickin narrowminded and blind to not have heard of Mandela as much to know who he was...to not know too much about him is fine, but to never had heard of him? Crap they had concerts and songs just for him and anti-apartheid. "Not gonna play Sun City" ring a bell?
