#2523789 Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal

Posted by LeftWinger on 14 June 2014 - 05:36 AM

Ok so based on what? Name me a few others ....

Also, who wouldn't sign a free agent prospect that our scouts are high on?

 Really? Ok, Leino, Brunner, Brunnstrom...does that answer your question?

#2523567 Spezza Requests Trade

Helm for Spezza....or Franzine for Spezza...

I can't tell if its a blow or not...i can't read it.

all this kids or vet talk. I am in the side of signing two vet D men to let the kids get their feet wet for the next couple seasons. No Q or K...i like Morris and Mitchell (although I am sure Willie would like to stay in LA.) Whether you trade Smith or not, adding two vets like that makes this team harder to play against and doesn't require throwing two (more) rookies into the lineup...can't expect all of them to workout so quick like Nyke and Sheahan.

Oh! I see! Ok at the time I guess it was underpayment, but today, no way.  I would be fine with the Smith, Helm and this years 1st for Kesler...but then again, gambling with the 1st I guess, may be another diamond...its a gamble for sure!

How about we throw Franzen in there instead of the 1st? :ninja:  We got to figure out what to do with Almqvist.  Maybe a draft pick if not package....also we have Ferraro and Callahan to deal with.  So many out of exemptions, Sheahan will be here.  Should we deal AA and one of the FWDS for draft picks and just pick up a UFA?  There is a log jam in the bottom 6 again and the two yoots will make it even more crowded...I don't like any of our UFA's except Legwand, but I don't think he will come here again if he will delegated to the 4th line.  We have too many bottom 6 guys already, Helm, Andersson, Glendening, Miller and Abby.  That doesn't include the solid 3rd line of Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar.... So we have 5 guys to split time on the 4th...you cant sit Helm and Babcock won't sit Glendening or Abby too much, so does that mean Miller and Andy are the odd guys to sit most the season?  Now we really need to do something with Ferraro and Callahan...

Bottom line is something has to give...if we are to not lose our kids and want to get better, trades need to happen.  Without making a blockbuster, guys that I think need a change of scenery are:  Lashoff, Kindl, Andersson, Almqvist obviously wants the NHL or Sweden, so he needs to be traded, Ferraro and Callahan are toughies.  Do we trade them for peanuts, lose them for nothing or keep them in Detroit?  I still say we need a Derek Morris/Willie Mitchell type defenseman for a couple of seasons to bridge the gap between our guys and Sproul/Ouellet/Marchenko being fulltimers here.  I figure Mitchell will most likely want to re-up with LA, but LA may be looking to go in a different direction.  Morris needs out of Phoenix IMO, but I though the same thing of Doan and he decided to keep the faith there...

#2522600 97-98 Red Wings still the last team to win back-to-back!

Posted by LeftWinger on 03 June 2014 - 12:06 PM

We are also one the only two teams to even make a Cup appearance back to back...us and Pit in the same years.  Nobody has made back to back finals since 08-09...

#2522016 If Renny goes to Florida, who replaces him?

Posted by LeftWinger on 28 May 2014 - 08:17 PM

Rival, I was just going to ask if I am the only one who would love to see Larionov come here.... What makes him unavailable? His agent job? Iggy knows hockey...he would 1,000,000 X better as a coach in the NHL. Not that he is a bad agent, but I think he just may ponder a spot on the bench grooming young talent instead of taking there money...besides agents are DB's.

putting my hatred for Franzen aside, same could be said of him that you just said of Kindl.  He needs a change of scenery and I do think he can become a 30 goal scorer again.  I think he has also grown stale in this system.  That is why I always do my fantasy trade scenario with Vancouver. I think playing with the Sedins could help him.

I am absolutely for getting rid of Kindl, no matter if we sign a vet or not...I just think that finally he has peaked about as high as a mountain in Florida.  He fooled us all the shortened season.

is this the draft thread or next seasons needs thread? Because no matter who is drafted, he isn't gonna help next season.

if we must mention the draft in this thread, then I say trade to pick for someone who will help us next season.

I believe if we are getting help at the forward position, it will come via trade. No UFA out there worth outbidding someone for.

#2520595 A little late - round 1 highlights in fake legos

neat. I think they got Jimmy Howards movement down pat! He barely moved on any of those goals...so realistic!

#2520237 Phaneuf being shopped?

Posted by LeftWinger on 13 May 2014 - 01:59 PM

No thank you. Besides, in the NHL there is something called interdivisional rape. Then there is Detroit rape. Then there are fair trades. They ask for the moon from a divisional rival, they ask for God's only son from Detroit, they accept 1980's Lake Erie from everyone else...

#2519643 So what do we have to trade?

Posted by LeftWinger on 07 May 2014 - 04:40 PM

I agree with the Howard stuff too.  He will be better with better defense in front of him.  We also need consistent scoring as well.  The best trade scenario I seen on these threads was the one that involved Helm and Kesler.  I like that deal and I think Vancouver, and their needs would do it as well.  I still would like to see the asking price for Kesler and Edler. If you can acquire those two, our score and our D become instantly better.  You have to ditch Kindl though, he is no longer an NHL defenseman.  Get a low pick for him, more than likely future considerations...

IMO our tradable guys are: Franzen, Helm, Smith, Almqvist, Ferraro, Callahan, Andersson, Kindl, Abdelkader, Miller and Ericsson.  Howard if you can secure a better goalie, or if Mrazek was in a better position to take over. Weiss if he submits some teams in in modified NTC.

Am I saying trade them all? No, but we need upgrades up front and on D.  Folks and or picks have to go in order to get better.
