#2682823 Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

Posted by LeftWinger on 10 July 2016 - 01:38 PM

Same to similar numbers as Roy, Hasek, Brodeur and he was never near elite? The three listed above also played on arguably the best all around teams in the 90's. Jersey was a better defensive team than Detroit, Colorado was Colorado, but no, they did all the work and was the only reason their teams were so good...

08 Cup rests on 2 people's shoulders, Z and Ozzie. The team was struggling and Ozzie only came in and won 9 straight wins in playoffs. He won 3 Cups, two as the main goalie. The stats don't lie (right krsmith?) Osgood, while maybe not the best goalie of his generation, was as close to elite as possible without being called elite.

Ya, I'm not sure why Holland thinks that Jimmy is so valuable that he won't trade him and he feels he'll get snagged off the expansion wire. I wouldn't be surprised if he traded Mrazek just so he could protect Jimmy.

Ozzie definitely belons in the HOF and his # retired.  Bottom line, he won the 08 Cup for us. He should've be awarded the Con Smythe that year as well.  He also had a Con Smythe 09 Cup run, if it werent for a little help from Uncle Gary, he would've won another Cup that season.

Where are all the corsi/stat guys here? They want to use stats to justify wasting a roster spot on a bottom line player, but where are they to defend why Ozzie deserves HHOF and both he an Sergei deserve their numbers retired.

If they reitre #13 before #91, then there is a travesty going on...at least #91 honored his contract(s) even when he was only making $2M when he was the best player in the NHL. He honored that contract, then got screwed by Holland.  Holland offer him 5 yrs $55M-ish and Sergei asked to wait until after he settled his divorce and found his new agent...when all that was over, he wanted to sign the deal, but that deal was pulled and Holland only offered him 4 yrs $44M-ish.  I don't blame him one bit for leaving, and knowing now what UFA's think about Holland, its no wonder players don't want to come here...

...but Osgood played behind the Red Wings, my gramma could win 400 playing for the Wings. :ninja:

Lol at Z & Pav and not Feds/Osgood. Osgood owns most the Red Wings playoff records, plus 400 wins. feds the best player on the team throughout the 90's and 3 Cup era.

91 and 30 absolutely. Especially if you're even considering 13 & 40.

#2682611 This year vs last year: a poll

Power(less)play WAS the issue. Having a better coach and better personnel (Vanek and Nielsen) should alliviate that issue. It may not be the best in the league, but it will be better.

Laws and rules are for peasants, not the elite.
This still makese want to vomit.

Oh ya, I still puke a bit whenever I read the topic title too!

I like the jab at the FBI and the Hildabeast, btw.

This thread has been high jacked by the world wide criminal syndicate known as the Corsi Bandits.

It's actually making people not want to post or read here. I find myself just scrolling past the posts that have "short story" qualifications. Or name calling arguments.

What I'd like to know is which would you rather do:

Trade AA plus 1st for Shattenkirk

Nyquist plus 2nd for Fowler

For my money I'm going Fowler, I'd sweetin the deal a bit with a GR defenseman like Sproul or XO if I had to. But no way I give up AA.

#2682196 Who should get A?

Posted by LeftWinger on 04 July 2016 - 05:45 PM

I agree...but Holland won't give up what it would take to get a "Kessel" on our team.

He needs to make the deal for Trouba/Shatt/Fowler and then let this core grow over the next 6 years winning and losing and learning.

I'd prefer Fowler or Trouba and then if he gets to July 1, then try to sign Shatt. Or even at the deadline...

#2682135 For the Kenny apologists, what Holland move would change your stance o

Posted by LeftWinger on 04 July 2016 - 08:40 AM

I have been and will be a huge Holland critic. For not getting a shot at Stamkos, I think he did pretty well on the 1st. I hate the Helm deal, but at least Franzen cap will wash it out come LTIR.

I think, for most, Holland needs to make a trade that solidifies his D. Shatt, Fowler or Trouba would be huge for him.

Also, if he could find a way to dump E and Howard, that would do wonders for his fan rep right now.

As for who is dealt. The two mentioned above and Nyquist would be my choice to go,that would be super in my eyes. Also, if you aren't going to play them, then trade Pulkkinen and Jurco. He would also score some points if he managed to get some sort of return for the guys that seem like will have to go on waivers come October.

Is that the origin of JFP?

Yes.  I don't think this guy even posted too much more or before that, he just rolled in, laid down perhaps the absolute best post game meltdown that we've ever seen in these parts and split! It seems like yesterday, but dang it was 2012? Wow!

It looks like his last active was around April of 2012. maybe he'll make an appearance again sometime!
