#2533148 Predictions for the DRW 2014-15 Season!

Posted by LeftWinger on 28 July 2014 - 01:25 PM

What we should do is change the subject of the topic to "If the Wings stay relatively healthy all year, what are you predictions?"

Like I said, if the oft injured players all play 70+ games, it can be nothing but a better year.  If that indeed happens, then I can see a 4th or 5th place playoffs spot for sure, if not higher.  Jimmy has to be pushed to higher expectations though...he has to carry us.

#2533131 Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

$7M? Overpayment.... No more than $1.5M per please. Maybe $5M for the term.

#2532945 2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Zombo, there is nothing wrong with being disappointed in Holland.  I simply said Booth was a hometown kid, more than likely gave Holland a call because most hometown kids do dream of playing for their childhood team.  But Holland is happy with his team and won't do another thing until he signs Alfie.

BTW David Friggin Booth is tons better than Dan s***stain Cleary.  Booth has proven to have chemistry with Weiss and that kind of chemistry is valuable around this league.  I was not saying that Booth was going to be the savior of this team, but I'd rather have Booth and 30-40 points at $1.1M than Cleary and his 10 games at $2.75M and probably 0-5 points.  Just saying.  And btw, where in my post did I say Holland is a bad GM? So, when you decide to comment on someone's quote, make sure you are quoting the correct post.

 Cleary is making more than Booth too? Hey Holland, Booth is a local kid, has some chemistry with Weiss, he just signed for $1.1M... I am just baffled. Baffled.  Why the hell wouldn't Holland give Booth a 1 year try?  All these guys that are getting bought out are signing 1 year deals for the cheap to earn the next big deal.  You have to figure Booth's camp called Holland.  Holland could have had him for pennies, now when he is a UFA next season, he will get a huge raise...He obviously didn't go to TO to win a Cup next year (like Heatley is trying to do and Richards as well.)  He was looking for a job to earn a fatter paycheck next season and Holland isn't even answering phone calls he is happy with his team and waiting to sign Alfie. I get more and more mad everyday watching quality (not high end, but quality) talent go elsewhere for less money than Cleary and #KFQ signed for...and ALL better than Cleary and #KFQ...

Sorry guys, its just so hard not to get frustrated and confused...

#2532753 'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released

Posted by LeftWinger on 21 July 2014 - 10:37 PM

I am glad you like my idea for the ICE Arena. I like it too!

If you guys want to go with the kicking tires theme, it would be hilarious if Goodyear or Uniroyal got the bid for the name. Uniroyal Centre, we've been kicking tires for 20 years! (and kicking ass)

#2532449 Babcock Interview on 105.1 this morning

Posted by LeftWinger on 18 July 2014 - 07:02 AM

...after a few weeks of thinking about it, and after hearing some interviews, if the UFA's don't want to come here, f*** em! If they don't want to be coached (like Babs said) and want to go somewhere where the team bows down to them, f*** em!  (I still hate the #KFQ signing, but can kinda, sorta understand the Cleary....kinda.)

I say, this team will conquer, this team will rise, and if they don't then they will again!  Get Babs signed, get these kids bridged in, lets remake this Dynasty core, Lets Go Wings!

#2532174 Red Wings & the Media

Posted by LeftWinger on 15 July 2014 - 04:25 PM

so, bottom line, to everyone involved in the NHL around the league, from other GM's to players to media, the Red Wings are pricks who you don't deserve to approach...

Pretty much sums up why other GM's want to rape us, UFA's now avoid us and we can't get any love in other media markets.  All while the Detroit Lemmings paint a beautiful sunny day, everyone else knows better.

I guess if we are "real fans" of the Red Wings, we are not allowed to ask the tough questions or criticize the team operations or just plain old not like something about them... Well hell, I guess I aint a real fan then, because I NEVER get in line and accept, I question everything and even ***** enough about some stuff to piss a lot of you guys off!  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks for the post! It opened my eyes even more... Changes are needed...NOW.

#2531758 Tom Renney could be leaving, too.

Calling Professor Larionov, Professor Larionov, please report to human resources...

#2531183 Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Posted by LeftWinger on 10 July 2014 - 04:39 PM

I said that Cleary would get more than Heatley... f*** this team. f*** Ken Holland. I refuse to watch anymore games.  I don't care if he acquires Shea Weber, I am done supporting this team until Holland is GONE!

#2531015 Red Wings Target Mike Green

Posted by LeftWinger on 10 July 2014 - 11:59 AM

ARGH!  Everytime I log on here I am dying to see Red Wings Sign [missing need] or Red Wings Acquire....all this targeting and face to face meeting and off season needs is getting me riled! Ok, I know, but man I am just jonesin for Holland to make the right move(s) this summer!

and why the hell is Morris still unsigned!?!? Doesn't anybody want him?

#2530873 Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions

Posted by LeftWinger on 09 July 2014 - 03:52 PM

Not sure if you knew this or not, but this is being discussed in the "Off season trades and signings" thread already. Not sure it needed its own thread, but the detailed info you added was a great read! Thanks! Please take no offense.

#2530861 Red Wings Target Mike Green

Posted by LeftWinger on 09 July 2014 - 03:06 PM

The 4th into a 2nd doesn't sound too bad if he re-signs.  Although I sure would like to maybe add a player instead of that conditional pick...going to be a deep draft and having a 1st and 2nd next year will be like gold.

Dats-Deke...that's not too bad for Garrison, wonder if they would take our 4th, Ferraro and the rights to Almqvist...

How about Helm and Kindl straight up?  Sign Morris, have two RH d-men, waive Lashoff, #kfq is your 7th guy...

Kronwall - Green

Smith - Dekeyser

Ericsson - Morris

#2530478 Bryan Murray Diagnosed with Cancer

Posted by LeftWinger on 07 July 2014 - 06:08 PM

Yes, it was especially cool to a 22 year kid who idolized the Red Wings since he was 9 and continues into his 44th year of living! I will never forget it!  Working at the airport during that time you cannot imagine the players and coaches I met.  Back then only the Wings and the Kings had private jets, so the rest of the NHL flew Northwest Airlines...good times! Rest In Peace NWA....screw Delta....what? oh sorry, that's a whole-nother story...

#2530473 Article on FAs and Red Wings

Posted by LeftWinger on 07 July 2014 - 05:50 PM

Detroit is also the smallest big city in the country.  You are far likely to run into trouble in Miami, Chicago, LA, Oakland, New York, Houston, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale... Detroit is smaller and the areas are far easier to avoid.  If you like architecture Detroit is an awesome place to tour around.  Players know they aren't going to live in the city of Detroit, but is the 20-30 minute trip worth it? Are the jacked up roads worth it? The player parking at the Joe is NOT worth it, I've parked there, I know.  So the sooner the arena is up and the sooner the mayor gets this city turned around, the better.

Most importantly, the sooner our kids establish that they are up and coming and show they are our future Stanley Cup core, then we will see some influx of UFA's here. Too bad it won't be in time for Datsyuk, but there will soon be the next All-Star center here....so lets see.

I am just mad that all the improvements happening in the city is pushing the people who don'y give a s*** about their hoods out into the suburbs...I come back to the area every week to work and yes I see the people coming into my neighborhoods...its a sad thing that we cannot just somehow convince these people that nothing worth having is free and that keeping your neighborhood nice is a job worth doing...Inkster, Ecorse, River Rouge...ugh, they're like war zones and its creeping into Woodhaven, Brownstown and Flat Rock....sad, sad, sad...

Ok, there is my city view for the year. I still believe its the Front Office and players not liking Babcock.  Other than that, nothing has changed anywhere else...we need a change.  Holland needs to step aside, Babcock needs to move on.  A good start would be convincing Larionov to become asst. coach.
