I saw it all. I don't like his flopping/embelishment. Never have. Do I have to like him?
Embellishments are a bigger problem with the league and the system of refereeing, it's done league-wide, not something Dustin Brown solely does. I don't see that as justification for wishing injury upon him when he makes a borderline hit.
As mentioned, he's also been on the receiving end of embellishments and questionable hits/sticks, but whatever, you've invested excessive amounts of emotion into a single player for a league-wide issue .. hate away.
If it is so painstaking then why do you continue I click the links and post in the threads?
You are right "we can't win every year." I am not sure anyone would argue this OBVIOUS point. But you can strive to improve every year, use our money to sign free agents, use players, picks to trade for players, etc to make the team better. The Wings have not done this the past 3 years and it's the cause of that some people get frusterated.
The Wings' success post lockout is partly due to not just diving out a la the Rangers into the free agency market. It's too big of a gamble.
Certainly something needs to give soon if the team wishes to manage the decline seen in the postseason, but all teams go through this.
The Wings' have made signings, but they aren't the type that make huge headlines, that's how it's been since the lockout. OTOH, it has resulted in a Cup, one win from two Cups, so I don't see a reason to be frustrated other than the normal part about one's own team losing. The difference between being spoiled and not is the ability to look at the bigger picture and appreciate success. Those who are spoiled refuse to do so, they're also the ones always complaining.
Sorry, but that's not the way I personally function as a fan. I get upset at losses, I move on, hard to enjoy something if I'm even remotely as unnerved as some posters look here.
I think it's a bummer that Detroit was out after the first round...but it happens. We really have been spoiled with such great success and now setting records at home and making the playoffs for 21 years in a row doesn't satisfy anybody. Just think how many players would have sold their souls to even be a part of the playoffs and we have an entire team full of guys who have never experienced the crushing blow that is coming in ninth in the conference... I'm happy with our team and even though it could be improved (what team can't be?) I'm not worried about the management ever letting this "decline" get very far. If you wanna see a decline go ask the Oilers how life has been since 90'
you didnt hear the booing and the you suck in what couldve been Lidstroms final game? all; of hockeytown did and pay back will be swift and brutal but Ill settle for tonight for now GO YOTES
Lidstrahm played a very long career like Izermen so personally I don't get hung up on those things. When it's time for Lindstramm to go, appreciate the good he's done and what he helped accomplish, don't worry about petty vengeance over one series or correlating it to a guy's career.
Thank you Kings for one of the most entertaining sweeps I've seen.
Quick is a shut down goalie, but I wouldn't say that LA has better goaltending, as others have mentioned here. Elliott has been better than Quick all year long and has the numbers to back it up...and he's going to start at least the first 2 games due to Halak' injury...and Halak may be the backup if/when he does return.
I think this will be a long and low scoring series. If LA had home ice, then I'd be a little more concerned about winning this series. But with all factors considered, including home ice advantage for St. Louis, I think the Blues can get it done in 7.
I didn't say that every single fan here hates Fedorov. But you can't deny that a lot, probably a significant majority, do. It does take several thousand fans to boo someone and be heard. The immediate reasons for hate vary, dependent on a player we are talking about, but there seems to be an underlying jealousy/hate toward KHL and Russian players, who do constitute a large majority of its players. As to whether KHL ruins players, the sample size is too small. There haven't been many players who played in KHL and then in the NHL. In fact, I suspect that your sample consists of Hudler and Radulov only. And Radulov has played too few games after his return, to judge. After all he had the most points of all players on both teams in the Nashville series, if he was ruined by the KHL, then who ruined the rest of the players in that series? And if you are referring to his discipline problems, it's not like he was a choir boy here before he left Nashville for the KHL. One might argue that it's the NHL that is turning its players into spoiled primadonnas. In fact, that is precisely the argument that's made on the Russian fan sites. And they have much larger sample size to base their conclusions on.
People didn't boo Fedorov because of his nationality. Fedorov lost my respect and I would have booed him too but not because he was Russian, that's asinine.
The jealousy/hate toward the KHL comes from a competitive mindset because the RSL/KHL don't broadcast to North America, the NHL does, the RSL/KHL accuses the NHL of taking talent as well, it's a bitter competition between leagues and the NHL represents North America, nothing else to expect other than a broad consensus bias for the NHL. If the KHL made it's product highly available to North American markets things would obviously be different.
Radulov has been criticized already in this series against Phoenix for floating around, much like Fedorov. He has a great ability and can do quite a bit of damage to the opponents but rather than put out an effort for 10-25 minutes a game he wants to float for most of it helping his team lose. That merits criticism, has nothing to do with the KHL nor Russia, and someone suggesting the RSL/KHL ruining players would be stupid because Pavel wasn't ruined when he played there during the lockout, nor a few other players.
Fedorov was bashed due to inconsistency but why shouldn't someone be bashed for that? What does that have to do with Russian hatred/dislike as per your claim? I guess you didn't see how much vitriol was placed upon Osgood after the team lost to the Penguins in the 2009 SCF, and the following season? Should I then suggest that LGW hates Canadians?
As for the Datsyuk bashing of his contract, here's the topic of his signing:
I read the first 25 pages, and nowhere did I see any Russian bashing.. in fact I was correct that it had entirely to do with his playoff performance as to why people were sceptical, plus, fans were naturally sceptical of long term contracts since the Wings were not really into that kind of thing previously.
This is the last (serious) post I give toward the Russian bashing thing, it has no merit, until proof is seen to this assertion that this was heavily prominent on this forum. Right now the proof says otherwise, and it's clear you have a seriously misguided view of posters' here and their view on Russians.
If there's anything humorous it's that people in that first 25 pages of the Datsyuk signing thread kept saying that Z should earn 10m/season and that Z > Pavel.. yikes.
