I firmly believe the Holland seriously miss the boat to ease this transition from losing vets and bringing up the young players. Smith w/o a doubt should have been playing an entire season with Lidstrom the fact that he didn't I have to question upper managements decisions flat out loss opportunity. Tatar and Nyquist should be playing a lot more with Dats last year as well even this year. Instead Holland idly sits back and rides this sinking ship to the bottom of the ocean. I seriously don't know what he's thinking. There have been a lot of miss opportunities to give our young guys more exposure and more experience. Instead they are all inevitably going to be all brought up at the same time.
This attitude to let rookies sit in the minors and overripe is no longer an option it wasn't an option for the past few years and now its going to bite us in the ass. The amount of mentoring and learning from the vets are disappearing and the biggest one was Lidstrom. I'm no longer an Holland fan but more on the fence watching with suspect eyes. If he's the GM we all thought he was he's gotta be able to be a good GM even when s*** hits the fan and so far he's not doing so well.
I wouldn't spent 1 cent on acquiring Perry let some other team throw away their cap space for him. Rather wait longer until something worth going after is available and Perry is not that player.
Personally I feel like boycotting the red wings doesn't make sense as Ilitch at least from the small rumors doesn't already align with Bettmen but there isn't much that can be done including other owners who are are also successful like Ilitch who also doesn't agree with Bettman. Its a two sided sword that the fans just get bent over and screwed over. We can only hope (or at least I can hope) that these small market teams lose so much money that they will finally either moved or close down. I hope for the latter a smaller more productive league is better for the fans.
These poor desision making small market teams hold all the power and keep Bettmen doing what he does making it as profitable a league as he can pretty much for the best interest for middle of the road and bad market teams. The tier teams will make more money at the expense of losing being able to ice great teams. The ability to go out and spend disappears so whats the difference for a player to go anywhere other than the fact that team x happens to have more cap space that year. Mediocracy is all we will most likely get out of the NHL so that more owners can be more profitable. Unfortunatly as Red Wings fans we lose.
SpectorsHockey: Those "insiders" claiming "done deals" to Chicago or Pittsburgh minutes before Parise's announcement feel a right bunch of tools about now. [via Twitter]
lol yes indeed including ppl posting from these "sources"
Franzen is an enigma to me. I don't understand how we draft big guys like Franzen and Erikson and they don't know how to use their bodies. I want to like Franzen but he makes it increasinly difficult every year. Its like he's hudler stuck in a giants body. He pretty much need to take this summer to find his balls and then be sat down by Babcock who should slap him in the face and tell him he's in a mans league and learn the term "drive to the net". I have no clue why Franzen plays the way he does. Is he scared? Is he just lazy? Only he knows why he does the stuff he does but its like he's allergic to going to the net someone has to do it and it mind as well be him because no one else will and no one else has a big body like that to push his way in. The few times that he does go to the net throughout the season he creates outstanding scoring changes even if he doesn't score on them. I get so excited when he does it, but then you hardly see it happen especially when it matter in th playoffs.
I have never understoof the Hudler hate. 25 goals, 25 A's.....I think this is a mistake, but let the haters hate I guess
Because at least for me he's a one dimentional player thats bearly even one dimentional. If his only talent and selling point is that he's a stick handeling scorer at least put up more goals than 25g playing with Z a lot of the time. If your a small player you with out a doubt have to play much bigger than you are which Hudler doesn't. He doesn't have speed, defense, size, grit, bearly a scoring touch, doesn't crash to the net. I don't honestly know what Holland see's in him even offering him a contract period just let him go you tried to develope him he didn't work out just let him go.
I keep seeing articles popping up about how Pittsburg is now in the race for both Suter and Parise since they are clearing cap space to make some moves... if they get one or both of these guys and Holland doesn't get either omg I'm gunna have to lock my self away for a few weeks and forget about this summer ever happened.
Parise scored a goal every 56 mins of ice-time this year Franzen scored a goal every 47 mins of ice-time this year
If that's true Franzen's stats are heavily skewed in just a handful of games there's no amount of good stats that Franzen has that I would want over what Parise brings and his intangibles. I honestly can't believe you would compare the two.
