Lebda hit from behind, suffers concussion

If it was a CLEAN HIT NO PENALTY would have been called. This Below is from MLIVE. "DETROIT -- Ville Nieminen is no stranger to controversial hits. His latest one has Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios imploring the NHL to punish him. Nieminen received a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct Saturday, when the St. Louis Blues forward hit Wings defenseman Brett Lebda from behind, driving his head into the metal partition that separates the glass at 6:32 of the first period. A bleeding Lebda was down on the ice for about 10 minutes before being wheeled off on a stretcher. He sustained a concussion, but was otherwise said to be doing well at the hospital, where Nieminen even visited him. An irate Chelios tried to mix it up with Nieminen after the play, but officials stepped in. "It's a case of who did it again,'' Chelios said. "He hits from behind -- that's what Nieminen is known for. Everybody knows that's the type of game he plays and now he got caught for it and I'm sure he's going to get suspended. The league's going to have to do something about it.'' Nieminen was suspended for one game in the Wings-Calgary playoff series in 2004 when he charged then-Detroit goaltender Curtis Joseph with four seconds remaining in Game 4. He was also suspended for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals vs. Tampa Bay that year after ramming Vincent Lecavalier's head into the glass". Ville is a cheap shot artist always has been always will be.

    Nashville ... Catfish?

I did't read thru all the post so if this is a repeat sorry. There are few traditions in sports that compare to those in the game of hockey. One such tradition is the throwing of octopi onto the ice at Red Wings games. Ever wonder how it started? The octopus first made its appearance on April 15, 1952, during the Red Wings' Stanley Cup playoff run. Two Detroit brothers, Pete and Jerry Cusimano - storeowner's in Detroit's Eastern Market - threw the eight-legged cephalopod on the ice at Olympia Stadium. Each tentacle of the octopus was symbolic of a win in the playoffs. Back then, the NHL boasted only six teams, and eight wins (two best-of-seven series) were needed to win the Stanley Cup. The Red Wings swept the series that year, and the Octopus has come to be the good luck charm ever since. For Nashville and the catfish I guess is best put this way. The catfish is a bottom feeder and like crap. Nashville was a bottom feeding team for many years so hence the Catfish and history. Note: Any other team that throws catfish or rats are copie cats. SEE ABOVE. The Octopus had a meaning 8 WINS to the CUP. Also why the rat thing did't stay long the NHL ban the throwing of stuff on the ice. Due to the fans in Florida thru so many and gave a delay of game penalty to the home team. GO WINGS

Bertuzzi ethics... help settle an argument

Hi All, Here’s the thing was it a brutal hit and cheap shot? Yes. Was it all Bertuzzi’s fault? Yes and No. Every action has an equal reaction. Crawford was the one who wanted retaliation on Moore for Moore’s hit. Now to the question of should he been suspended for life? Who knows but the NHL did not think so. Moore was a goon as well and took a cheap shot and he didn’t get suspended so I guess the answerer is no. Bertuzzi did his time and it was on ice and not on the street so the laws should be different and he should not have had to face a judge any way. Now about the law suit for Moore suing and tiring to get 20 Million and his family wants to get 2 Mill or so for stress. Give me a break it was on the ice during a NHL Hockey game that should not happen. When a football player gets a cheap shot and hurt you don’t see the player suing the NFL would not allow it. It’s a sport where retaliation happens. I know this will sound bad but, Moore should let it rest. Moore would of done the same thing mayby not a side of the head hit but would of retailated.

One of Mickey Redmond's best quote's ever!

Hi peeps it's been a long time but, I always look in. The best I remember was when he said Federov just made a move on the D-Man and he left his jock hangging on the rafters. I
