#2321564 Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

Posted by EastonWings on 24 July 2012 - 03:36 PM

...and just like you and me AND the media, he is thinking why doesn't anyone want to be here? Because Holland lowballs...In this market, if you want to big names, you have to overpay, outbid, and offer REAL helluva offers for star players... I am glad he has tried, but if he didn't try as hard as everyone else, then he didn't really try, did he? His model remains the same...Euro, Euro, N/A, Euro. Then bring in or back OLD Euro. Sammy is an upgrade as a whole over Hudler, Brunner we don't know, Tootoo, baffles me wy he came here, he probably thought 99.9% that his buddy Suter was coming here, just like the rest of the world, just like Suter did, until his wife ruled otherwise and Holland offered him less money than Minny...Holland can still redeem himself by acquiring Ryan...which would help bigtime in getting Perry or Getzlaf next year. (but I doubt he gets any of them.) I still belive by time training camp hits, Lilja will be a Wing again...

I fully, FULLY expect Hudler to be back in 4 years...this is Holland's model. He refuses to change with the times...

Left winger you truly know your hockey son. I agree with you. Think Kenny will call larinov or federov.
He may as well since he's failed to land a stud free agent Canadian since he's been the gm.

Basing it on how free agency has worked for the wings don't count on it. There's more teams in better position to win a cup. Not to mention these teams are offering more money .

#2321380 Holland Content with Current Roster

Well said. I like how holland stressed that we needed a top scoring forward and yet he backtracks were fine when he loses out on all these forwards. Same goes for d.. I think we outta start worrying of drafting north American hockey players instead of euros every yr if we wanna land Canadian,American players. I personally think its hurting our team when it comes to free agency. Holland hasn't made any moves at the trade deadline for a few years now. His confidence were okay with the team we have is losing credibility with the wings being bounced from the playoffs so quick. Man I almost wish we had Stevie y as our gm.
He's active and headed in the right direction with the lightning.

Just how many shut down defensman are there in the NHL? Not to many bubb. All we need is a solid defensman since there are no shut dmen available in free agency not to mention no team would trade Detroit their franchise d. Holland would have to give up alot of youth to land a solid defensman. I don't see it happining since he keeps insisting he's good with what we have. He's gonna sit back and wait for a new Cba and put the wings in the right position cap wise to land someone. As long as we have z,pavel were gonna be competitive. Truth is we cannot replace a legend. Wasn't kindl and smith drafted in rd 1 it's obvious the organization thinks highly of them both being they drafted pavel,z and lidstrom in what rd? Look how they turned out by giving them ice time and patience

Well said number 9. Losing lidstrom, raffy and Stu hurts our d badly. No need to panic tho as far as rebuilding. In the end when the Cba expires next yr. Were gonna see teams that are over paying and in cap prison start dropping guys left and right. This will be our time to pounce on some free agents. As far as a rebuild we don't need to rebuild every yr we bring in one or two rookies at camp with the opp to earn a roster spot whether they earn over our veterans is another thing. Nyquist. B smith and brunner all young. If we can sign a semin and make a move fpr a decent defensman we will be okay.

#2316410 A case for rebuilding

Good lord, why is there such an allure to rebuilding? I swear some of you just can't stand not seeing Landeskog's, RNH's, Yakupov's, and other high profile overrated prospects in our system...you'd think the last 20 years of wings drafting would change that, but apparently not.

Why in gods name would we rebuild? we have Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Howard, Kronwall, Helm, Franzen, and Filppula...that's 7 high caliber championship players. You don't rebuild when you have assets like that lol. There are teams with wayyyyy less than what we have who aren't rebuilding, why in the hell would we?

Oh, and did I also mention we already have an extremely deep pool of prospects? Smith, Nyquist, Jarnkrok, Mrazek, Tatar, Sheahan, Jurco, Sproul, Andersson, Ouellet, Pulkkinen, Tvrdon, Marchenko, Quine, Ferraro, Callahan, Frk, Athanasiou, Mckee, Paterson, Nestrasil, Dekeyster (most likely)....we need to tank to acquire prospects why?

Our D is tore up yes....but our forward lines are more than shored up, and our goaltending is shored up...we'll probably end up trading some of our many extra forwards for more d-men so chill man.

#2299661 Will the Wings keep Kyle Quincey?

Posted by EastonWings on 06 May 2012 - 05:30 PM

We outta give the oilers a call and offer Quincy, kindl and filpulla for that number 1 overall. Being the oilers gm has made it known they want blue line help. Then we can draft Yakapov and spend on free agency on d. Quincy is young and has value. Just not sure he fit in with our system.

#2299660 The new guys thoughts.....

Posted by EastonWings on 06 May 2012 - 05:18 PM

Yea good thing you are not the gm. We'd break our 22 straight of making the playoffs with a massive overhaul. Adding a couple free agents would Put us in contention again. I laugh at some of the people on here posting all year how we needed a fourth line grinder befOre the deadline. It's been obvious for what the wings lacked. They have so many playmakers and yet no true snipers. They lack speed and size. There older players are the guys who have been injured thru the yr and the playoffs yet they compete. They need to realistcly let guys like bertuzzi, holmstrom, hudler walk. Yes bring in guys like d jones,Sheehan, jurco. All have size and skill. Then you add in a parise and you have a dangerous scoring team. I like yur thoughts on the d. Just not sure they would play kindl over b smith. Wings outta offer parise, suter deals and retool on the fly.

#2263875 Deal or no deal

Posted by EastonWings on 27 February 2012 - 02:37 PM

Looks like we won't acquire anyone at the deadline. Wish we would of got a sniper to go on a line with dats. Who knows maybe holland will make a splash in the offseason and get parise and suter

#2262214 2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Posted by EastonWings on 24 February 2012 - 06:38 PM

Just an observation, last night's game was a perfect indicator that the Red Wings NEED a top line scorer that shows up every night to play. I certain hope Holland addresses this problem by the deadline because these are the teams we are going to be facing in the playoffs....Vancouver, San Jose, St. Louis...even Chicago still gives us fits. Please Kenny....PLEASE! WE NEED A REAL CLUTCH SCORING WINGER!

Exactly! Come playoffs when zetterburg and datsyuk are being focused on being s*** down we will need scoring from spmeone else. Look at the last two years. Zetterburg was placed to focus on thortons line. However thorton was shutting down z. We lacked the scoring with franzens ankle hurt. Guys get hurt in the playoffs u have to be deep.

#2260774 Red Wings still looking for another defensemen?

Posted by EastonWings on 22 February 2012 - 07:41 PM

I think the wings know spmethong we dont. Its possible Kenny is preparing for stuarts departure this summer. Or he could be stock piling d for a move in the summer. U don't make the playoffs 20 plus seasons for not knowing what your doing. Have faith

#2260445 Alright, time to call Nyquist up

Posted by EastonWings on 21 February 2012 - 10:57 PM

Lol some of you fans crack me up. The guy just got back from injury of course he's gonna look like s*** being he was dead tired. Cleary is one the wings biggest hustlers when it comes to speed a nd getting to those loose pucks. Go to a wings game and actually watch the players you'd see that. If u wanna talk about anyone looking like s*** try holmstorm who once again took a stupid penalty and couldn't check if he life depended on it.

#2258220 Rick Nash "available for the right team/price"

Posted by EastonWings on 18 February 2012 - 04:40 AM

So let me try to understand what you are saying....

Hudler is a superior hockey player to Nash. So if Nash is offered to Detroit for something reasonable that Holland had no problem giving up, he should pass on it because he has Hudler. The same Hudler that is superior to Nash. You know we are talking about Rick Nash right? Not Nash Bridges...

The guy who wrote the comparisons of hudler and Nash forgot one important fact. Nash skating backwards is faster then hudler skating foward.

It would take alot more then hudler to pry Nash frOm the jackets. It would take b smith, kindl, jurco and maybe nyquist with picks to land Nash. No thanks!
