#2231785 Bobby Ryan/Jarome Iginla watch

Posted by dallas27 on 01 December 2011 - 09:22 PM

Used to think Filppula was a waste of money for how much he is paid until recently, and it's about time he played to his potential as harsh as that sounds. But unfortunately if Holland is going to make a trade Filppula will have to be a part of it, he's really the only person of value and it's skyrocketing right now. Contrary to popular belief of Hudler Slappies the trade value of a slow, small one-dimensional player that's an UFA next year isn't that high. And they won't trade Zetterberg no matter how much it's suggested. Won't happen.

All for Iginla if Holland can get him at the right price. He can net 40-50 goals / play at an elite level for the Red Wings for two or three more years. He may lose his physical edge but his shot and instinct to score won't diminish. At this point San Jose has Detroit figured out in the playoffs (see the last two years if you don't believe me), argue all you want, it's still true. Have a hunch San Jose wouldn't have an answer for a Datsyuk - Iginla connection, assuming they play each other in the playoffs. I can see Datysuk getting 70+ assists and Iginla getting 50+ goals if they played together all season. Iggy's shot has burned Howard a couple times so far this season, all on a s***ty Calgary team.

It would have to be Filppula + Smith + another high end prospect + 1st. I don't think Iginla's value is that high but that's what it'll probably take. Calgary may not even be interested in that anyways. Regardless, Iginla is the exact player everyone wants. Big, fast, physical, fighting, right-handed scoring power forward that isn't afraid to go in the middle of the ice.

I feel Iginla has always wanted to play in Detroit, especially given his statements about the DRW organization the past week. They are the favorite out of the West if they get him IMO

The difference is the Wings don't actually go after pretty much any trade/FA bait imaginable, unlike the Leafs.

And dallas27, I'm not sure if you're referring to me, but if you are (probably should use names instead of this girly passive aggressive method as I tend to skip over your posts due to them being full of pointless fluff), I find it pretty hilarious how easily you get mad over pixel debates. Lay off the huffing OxiClean there, Billy Mays, and maybe you'll find yourself throwing less pixel temper tantrums.

And saying

In 2007-08 the Red Wings' first 7 games were 4-2-1 (9 pts) -- pretty sure we remember how that season ended.

isn't pointless fluff? You can apply that to every single season in which they don't start well and it wouldn't matter. Because, well, what happened in 2007-08 doesn't matter. This just in: It's 2087-2088 and the Wings are off to a dreadful, slow start but are poised to win the Stanley Cup because they did in 2007-08.

All you have been able to do is make, what you think, funny little quips towards me without actually responding to anything I say.

You can still try "to make me eat my words." Again, those words were the past doesn't matter, especially 5 years ago, but if history does matter then the Red Wings will lose in the playoffs, probably to San Jose, because that's what's happened in the past two years. Have at it. You won't though. Instead of admitting defeat you'll find some smart ass comment to say to me.

You are aware that when you were talking with Eva about Samsonov it was me that suggested it first, right? Thought all I had to say was "pointless fluff." In case you skipped over it I said that he comes into my work quite a bit and no teams are after him. He won't be the 70 point player he was but I think he can be a smaller, quicker Danny Cleary and help spark the offense.

How's Ford doing again? That's another topic you will yet avoid and rather try to blast me because you know you are wrong, you just don't know how to deal with it. Instead, the most you'll come up with is something along the lines of "stop playing in the snow piles Whitney har har har har har har."

Why would Emmerton be next, and who's replacing him? Why not Miller or Eaves? Eaves has sat in the press box for four games, Miller for two, and Emmerton for two. Emmerton is four years younger than the others, and all of them are capable PKers. Emmerton is the only center of the three.

The Red Wings have plenty of players that can play center. I think Eaves has more value than Emmerton, Eaves is proven. But Miller would be the more logical choice to let go. I'm not sure if anyone would be needed to waived but Tatar would be the next to come up. He should have been called up before Nyquist. I wish I knew why they are waiting so long to call Tatar up.

Couldn't. It's "I couldn't care less" because "I could care less" means that you do care. Which is the complete opposite of what you are saying. Proper spelling and grammar are our friends. You should become acquainted with them if you desire to be taken seriously.

Haha, playing the grammEr nazi card. Mi grammEr r spot on 99% of teh time. Butt kool s*** men, u look liek suc a hard ass jeanus! I bet you're e-peen r the size of the hedgehogs! I riddled that sentence with mistakes just for you qtee.

Trade for Doan and Parise? And what are we giving up, Hudler/Kindl/1st to New Jersey and to Phoenix at the same time?

I've actually started thinking more on the lines of Rick Nash but I doubt if Columbus would ever trade within the division, or the Red Wings for that matter. Seeing as Doan and Parise are going to be UFAs I think they can be had for a cheaper price than what it would normally be. Since New Jersey has made it clear they are moving on with Kovy and not Parise I'm thinking you aren't going to have to give up as much as you think because the Devils would be happy with something for Parise. Now that something is still going to be quite a bit because he's a borderline franchise player but I think you'd be surprised. I like Franzen + Tatar for Parise. I'm not entirely sure what Phoenix needs so I can't comment on who I'd send over there. I imagine it wouldn't have to be a lot for an aging 35 year old who's body isn't going to hold up for too many more seasons the way he plays.

I like the Sergei Samsonov idea. I've liked the idea of Sergei Samsonov for years. But Ken Holland doesn't. Sergei Samsonov contacted the Wings about trying out, and the Wings said no thanks.

I don't see why they wouldn't but I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks. Guy looks like he is in great shape though. When I asked him if any teams contacted him he kind of smirked when I said I don't know why nobody would. It was pretty funny, kind of like he knows he can still play in the NHL and be effective. But as I said, I know he's far removed from his 70 point self, and I wouldn't expect that at all, but I still think he can offer some upside to the Wings in terms of scoring. I see him as a smaller, quicker Danny Cleary.

No matter how the Red Wings do it, they need something fresh. Something different. Anything. Whether that's internal through call-ups or through a trade, so be it. Two games has turned to five and it's going to turn into ten.

Ya dig, Inglewood Jack?

Why are you sticking up for that moron to begin with? Guy has his head so far up his own ass. Last I knew he lived in San Francisco, which is very fitting, for many reasons.

What else is there to say?

I showed how nobody is condoning the Wings' play the past two games and simply saying to lay off the panic button, and you respond by saying that laying off the panic button IS condoning the Wings' play. And then when I ask you to back up that logic, you accuse me of having nothing of substance to say.

You are aware how asinine that is, right?

Posted Image

The only one talking about the panic button is YOU. You're more than welcome to go back and read my posts and search for the word panic. SPOILER ALERT: You won't see it hehehehehehehheheheheheh

In case you missed it I said this

Line combinations = roster. Pretty simple concept. Again, I'm not stating there is a problem. But if Babcock is hinting at it then maybe there is some truth to it. He's obviously trying to juggle the ROSTER to find some combination to spark the team becuase we all know they aren't playing the best hockey as of late, he's said so himself. Just because "it's been the most said statement by him" doesn't make it any less true. However I'm more inclined to think it could have been the month in between games they had. But if that spark, down the road, is waiving Brunnstrom and Emmerton and putting in Murask and Tatar, both of whom have more upside than the former, then so be it. Tatar is nothing but passion and hustle. Look at his first goal, kid wants to be a Red Wing. That's not saying the rest of the players don't. I have to try and be as clear as possible here.

Wait a second...isn't Brunnstrom on waivers now? Get outta here! Looks like Emmerton is the next one on the block. See, I did have substance, you just didn't agree with it so you dismissed it. Just because you don't have an opinion and someone said something in the slightest negative way doesn't mean you have to blast it.

Who's next? Ah, the ol' corn cob Shoreline

That post I made was 3 and a half hours ago, quit "living in the past".

^ Here is dallas "living in the past". 2 games doesn't make a season, it wouldn't even if the season ended in 7 games -- the Wings would still make the playoffs in good fashion.

In actuality, I skipped over your post because I was not quoted and I automatically skip posts that seem tl;dr and not interesting (bold text doesn't inherently make it so). I'm not sure what you mean by "throwing" my logic out the window, but if you'd like I can further make you eat your own four words you toss around like you were trying to oust Barack Obama for needless hypocritical slogans.

Ok, I can work with this. You said;

In 2007-08 the Red Wings' first 7 games were 4-2-1 (9 pts) -- pretty sure we remember how that season ended.

So far they have 5-2-0 (10 pts) and are on pace for 117. So, following a horrendous 5-2 start, without reservation, we begin another season episode of Panic time! :yowza:

I retorted with

I always find it humorous when people make references to the past, especially in sports and when it's five years ago. See, the thing about the past is, well, it's the past. It has little to no relevance to the team in the PRESENT. I *think* there is a saying about not living in the past, I'm not entirely positive though. Yes, it's virtually the same team in terms of the 'core' but you're talking about a Zetterberg, Datysuk, Lidstrom, Rafalaski, etc etc five years younger. There's a little difference there.

But I forgot they won the cup that year so surely they are destined to this year! But wait, I can live in the past as well. Didn't San Jose knock us out the past two years? Not quite sure I want that to repeat itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's cool they won in 2007-2008 with Marian Hossa and the above names when they were five years younger. But they have lost to San Jose the past two years. So if history proves correct the Red Wings will be kicked out by San Jose. By all means please try to make me eat that. SPOILER ALERT: You can't hehehehehhehehehe

This is going to be EXTREMELY difficult for you to understand, I know, but what a [different] team ddid five (5) years ago has no affect on what they will do this year. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. ZILCH. NADA. Just as, just as, what they have done the past two years means squat. How are they playing RIGHT NOW? Horrible.

Ya dig Inglewood Jack?

And all you can come up with is pointless drivel blasting my post because, as I said, you're just a corn cob who thinks his opinion is more valid and poignant than every other one. s***, you're smug cloud is even bigger than George Clooney's. So what's going to happen now is you're going to come in here and make a long, winding post about how much smarter you are than me and try to put me down somehow rather than admit that you are wrong and I am right. Because for whatever reason you need to feel superior to someone on an interwebz message board. Me, on the other hand, doesn't give two s***s about what you say to me. Truth be told, you could drop dead and I could care less.

Hey, how's Ford doing by the way? Still think they put out garbage? But I digress, welcome to ignore, don't even bother typing a response.

With all that being said... trade for Shane Doan and Zack Parise and they're set. In all reality, however, you're going to see Tatar and Mursak soon. On a sidenote, I got myself started: Legitimate source -a former Wings goalie- also said don't expect the Red Wings to move to the East. Which kinda sucks.

Want me to really blow your mind?

Sergei Samsonov comes into my work quite often and I've asked him every time if ANY team has called him yet. He's told me none of interest. What would I do? Bye-bye Drew Miller or Hudler. Hello Sergei Samsonov. He's far removed from his 70+ point back-to-back seasons but for Detroit's style of play, I think he has enough offensive flair left in the tank to help out a struggling Wings team in desperate need of goals.

PANIC BUTTON PANIC BUTTON PANIC BUTTON

Yea, I'm being an acehole but don't come in here and blast what I say without even TRYING to comment on what I actually posted.

Put up or shut up. Simple as that.

Figured you'd have more to say than that. Oh well, silence is golden in whatever country you're in. I'm guessing Shoreline won't be saying much either since I threw his 2008 logic out of the window. On to the next one.

Nobody is saying "Playing without effort is okay." People are simply saying "Whoa, don't freak out over the roster yet. It's been two games over an 82 game season. Let's see how they do for a bit before hitting the panic button."

It's sad that people can't understand the difference.

Ouch. That hurt. It's sad you don't realize they are nearly one in the same.

Babcock had six different line combinations last night. 'That means there is a problem,' said the coach.

Line combinations = roster. Pretty simple concept. Again, I'm not stating there is a problem. But if Babcock is hinting at it then maybe there is some truth to it. I remember when nobody was safe from Bowman. Even Stevie was in Bowmans dog house. It's unfortunate everyone has gone soft.

Lol, -4, am I not kissing the Red Wings ass enough for you guys? I remember when this forum used to be good and someone could have a strong opinion. Now that's living in the past.

Posted by dallas27 on 26 October 2011 - 01:14 PM

Saying it's just two games and to not worry about it is no better than saying what the OP did.

Simple fact is the past two games they have played lethargic, undisciplined hockey. Taking seven penalties in one game is pathetic and worthy of a practice with no pucks. While I don't think it would affect the Wings but this type of play devolps bad habits. I don't know about the rest of you but the last thing I want going into Friday is a Red Wings team with bad habits.

Some quotes

Babcock had six different line combinations last night. 'That means there is a problem,' said the coach.

Babcock: I did the sleep test. I went to bed, I was bitter. I woke up this morning, I still was bitter.

Babcock on a physical practice. 'We don't do it in games, so we'll do it here.'

He went on to question their effort the past two games as well. But everyone here in their infinite wisdom, moreso than Babcock himself, say don't worry aboot it so all is well.

I'm not saying hit the panic button or do a trade in the immediate future or what have you, but to sit there and say absolutely nothing is wrong when the coach himself is claiming otherwise, is kind of silly

#2216157 2011 MLB Season Thread

Posted by dallas27 on 18 October 2011 - 12:00 PM

They are 70 MPH pitches down the middle in batting practice. It was cocky to say, especially when he failed to show up a couple games. Furthermore I'm sure he could jack 10/10 in batting practice if he really wanted to. Again, they are 70 MPH pitches down the middle, I would hope he can do that seeing how he is the best hitter in all of baseball. They might even be 60 MPH for all I know, figured 70 was a nice, round number

WE TALKIN' 'BOUT PRACTICE?!?!

Get Real

It was very fun to watch, no doubt, I'll agree all day with that. Not hear though. Keep your mouth shut, take care of your business and you'll do fine. You ever hear any Red Wings opening up their mouth?

Didn't think so - Go aboot your business

I wasn't upset with Cruz taunting Verlander, Cabrera started it. It's not like Verlander did anything out-of-the-ordinary special in the playoffs anyways. Once in a lifetime regular season, meh post season.

I fear the backlash

#2213440 Tell the Illitch Family to Drop "Presented by Amway"

Posted by dallas27 on 08 October 2011 - 03:14 PM

Who. Cares.

People let the silliest s*** bother them, it's quite funny.

But you all want a new arena correct? That requires a lot of money, which they may or may not have. Either way Amway is giving them more of it.

#2211247 Illitch: Definitely a new arena coming

Posted by dallas27 on 01 October 2011 - 12:24 PM

I'll be in the minority when I also say I don't want a new arena for the Red Wings, they do deserve one though. But the Joe reeks and oozes old school hockey and hockey in general. From peeing in a tub down to the claustrophobic seats. I was at game 6 (vs the sharks) last year and I can guranatee a new arena would not have been as loud as the Joe was that game. By far the most outrageous, insane, fun, mind numbing, voice losing game I've been to. Roof was shaking it was so loud. I don't give a s*** who you are at the Joe, if you're around me you're getting a high five. And that's exactly what I want, a close experience with other fans that share a love for a game only hockey fans can know.

The Joe provides all of this

#2200225 Detroit Fans Have Turned Ugly

Posted by dallas27 on 21 July 2011 - 08:12 PM

I'm 99% sure this was just a reprint from about a yearish ago

I'm pretty sure whoever wrote this is an idiot so let's break this down;

I was born and raised in the Detroit area and have followed our teams all my life. I went away to serve our country for 22 years and returned to the area in 2007. Not much has changed in terms of the things that make Detroit unique. Sure, we now have the Palace, Ford Field and Comerica Park. All great venues. And we still have the Joe, which stinks but still feels like home.

Well let's take a look at the mayors of Detroit during your service - http://en.wikipedia....ors_of_Detroit. Coleman Young. Dennis Archer. Kwame Kilpatrick. And you say things haven't changed? I wonder why? Look at the pictures before Coleman Young. Notice anything? But yea, things are gonna be different and better when white people are LITERALLY AFRAID to go downtown.

I always look back at my youth with fond memories of supporting our teams among the greatest fans in the world. My stint in the military provided opportunities to see every sport in many venues. I found myself telling anyone who would listen how loyal Detroit fans are and that they're the best in the world.

Hit the nail on the head, this is still true

When I returned in 2007, I was horrified to find that I had been telling a lie. Our grandfathers must be turning over in their graves regarding the constant whining of Detroit fans. I don't even know how some of you can call yourself fans -- or whether you even enjoy the games. For those of us who do still enjoy it, our experience is tarnished by your sense of entitlement. If some of you only knew how many municipalities are begging just to have a pro team, perhaps you would show some respect.

In retail / entertainment the teams are trying to sell you something. Well in this business you simply aren't going to make everyone happy. The customer is always right and even if you have evidence to disprove that person the customer still thinks / is right. And that person, no matter how misinformed and idiotic they sound ARE STILL RIGHT and they will let you know aboot it. This will NEVER change.

It seems that many of us believe we can coach, manage or run the day-to-day operations of our sports teams better than anyone else. Some of us even think they are better players and athletes, even though they were second-string in high school. I find it difficult to understand why many of you even attend the games. It seems that you believe you have license to complain about every aspect of every play and the result of every game. If that's the case, you at least should realize that if you were worth your weight in snot, you would be out there playing or coaching yourself.

Many of us? Thanks for lumping everyone into the same category. No s*** you're gonna get a drunken fool that thought he was hot s*** in high school rambling "COME ON INGE, I CAN HIT THE BALL BETTER THAN THAT." That's a bad example, many of us can. Regardless, you'll always have people like this. Why? Because our species is actually rather stupid and ignorant. That's the simple answer. Thank you, Bill Hicks. Please escort your children out of the room - youtube.com/watch?v=3R8jPSijVsg

The concept of being a fan is fairly simple. It starts with loving the sport. If you do, the experience should be great, win or lose. A true fan supports their team, its players and its coaches through thick and thin. Last time I checked, fans don't call plays, select players, fill out lineups nor participate. Your job is to cheer or boo. I guess some of us want to use sports to deflect personal failures. I listen to local sports radio from time to time, and it is amazing how much hatred is out there among people who call themselves fans.

So this person thinks losing is a great experience? What kind of f***ed up idea is that? Yea man, I went to the game and my team lost 10-0 but man was it a GREAT game. Are you out of your mind?

The time has come for some of you to look in the mirror. Detroit once was an incredible place with the greatest fans in the world. It isn't anymore. Our communities used to thrive with people raising their children with pride and reaching out to their neighbors. You felt a sense of unity when you walked down the street. Victory was sweet, and defeat was painful, but the support was never in doubt.

Detroit once was an incredible place, 1000000% correct. But see there was kinda the great white flight, I don't think that really helped and surely you were around for that. And when you were on tour even more s*** went down, IDK if you paid attention or not but I feel you didn't. It's pretty simple to see why Detroit isn't the incredible place it once was. But unfortunately this guy doesn't realize sports is the ONLY thing keeping us unified. Unless you are part of the artard "NO MAN, MSU IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCHHHHH BETTER THEN UM. "UH-UH MAN, YOU'RE AN IDIOT, UM IS BETTER TIMES INFINITY." Do us all a favor and stop rooting for either one. Or just don't voice your opinion, you are beyond annoying.

Now we have become a place where many complain yet offer no solutions. We complain that our neighborhoods are falling apart yet do nothing to make it better. We rant and rave and evaluate others without doing anything ourselves. Sometimes I wish these franchises would leave town. Having been all over this country, I'm beginning to believe that there are places much more deserving of these teams than we are. Some of our fans deserve to be fired.

The secret answer? That's what the government wants. We complain yet don't do anything because we don't know how to do anything without the government helping. Just the way they want it, buh-bye middle class. This person has been all around the country, I feel it'd be safe to assume they noticed how it isn't nearly as ugly and desperate as it is in Michigan. It's a lot easier to not worry about everyday life when you aren't worried about making your next mortgage payment.

It's more Detroit has turned ugly, not the fans. Up until I started going to Chi-Town on a semi-regular basis I was opppttiimmiisstic about Detroit. Yea, we'll be back. Things are gonna turn around in no time. I'm afraid not. It'll be a long, painfully slow process if they want to attain that great city status again. Detroit is at least a hundred years away from being what Chicago or any great city is.

#2199560 Why the Detroit Red Wings are headed for a fall

Posted by dallas27 on 19 July 2011 - 03:52 PM

The Red Wings are gonna fall. It just depends on what your definition of fall is. Mine is 6th place in the west and a decent shot to win it all in the playoffs. By no means are they the perennial favorites they once were but they are still the Red Wings. Now, when they move to the East it might be a different story.

Can't wait for Pulkkinen

#2188369 No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

Posted by dallas27 on 23 June 2011 - 02:43 PM

I don't get why people are so opposed to this, quick ideas;

-In the Red Wings puck possession system speed isn't as important. I am willing to bet Jagr is no slower or faster than Franzen
-Comparing Hudler's KHL stint to Jaromir Jagr's KHL stint is like comparing apples and oranges. Jagr was an all-star. Hudler is, well...yea
-Comparing the Modano experiment to a Jagr experiment is like comparing apples and oranges. Modano got injured. We don't know if Jagr will get injured. End of story.
-He'll be cheap. Or at least what Holland will offer will be cheap
-If he's the cancer everyone talks aboot in the locker room...well trade him
-I really, really want to see what Datsyuk and Jagr can do

#2183301 SCF: Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks

Posted by dallas27 on 07 June 2011 - 12:50 PM

Probably the least watchable SCF in a while for me, which is also bad for the NHL if you're trying to market it. Maybe I'm just used to Red Wing hockey and am crazy spoiled in that regard.

All Boston has to do, which is really the only thing they are good at imo, is goon it up and they take the series. If they shy away from just playing physical they'll bow out in five like I originally thought. BUT, they throw 500 checks a game they have a shot.

The fan base for each team is equally as biased and annoying so that's a wash for me.
