Why does everybody have such a boner for the original Sabres logo? It's awful. It'd be like if the winged wheel was a wheel set above a set of wings floating around in a blank void haphazardly slapped together in a circle.

Also, the Jets' new logo looks a bit CHL-ey, but it's by no means among the worst in the league. I think the wordmark of all things looks pretty sharp, actually.

Totally agree about the Sabres logo.  Boooorrrrrrrrinnnnnngggg.  A good logo is a simple representation of a theme.  Not pictures of the literal items comprising your team name.  The best logo the Sabres ever had was actually the buffalo head they wore with black and red.  No effort or professional work at all was ever involved in creating the original one.

The original Jets logo was only slightly better.  Good job: the word Jets with a hockey stick for the J.  The new one is sharp and I like the wordmark.  Don't much care for the crossed hockey stick logo, but the one with the plane is good, and the whole thing, colors and all, is very Air Force-y.  Which is a much better theme than what appears to be a passenger liner on the original one.

Damn, I'll miss having Ozzie in the net.  This is a guy who was so loyal to the Wings he was willing to turn down offers to be a starter for other teams to come back to Detroit for no guarantees other than to be a backup at best.  If that kind of loyalty isn't rewarded with some kind of big Chris Osgood Night, it'll be a travesty, but I'm not worried, the organization will definitely do what's right by him.  Can't wait for his HOF induction in a few years.

I knew there was some history between Commodore and Babcock.  Sounds like it's basically Commodore holding some grudge against Babcock that Babs doesn't even remember.

Commodore could theoretically still hate Babcock's guts - it's still better than living in Columbus.

Is that really the best comeback you could muster? You ARE a total pessimist. You DID say that the Wings had little or no chance. What is it that you're up in arms about?

I'll toss a word in for the Coyotes fans too.  I don't envy them at all.  Gonna be a long, scary offseason.  I don't like it when some of our fans take delight in them losing their team.

Kind of funny to see, but it looks like it wasn't really a big deal. I mean if he does that same thing all the time, hard to call him classless because of it. Not his fault the Canadiens stuck a little kid next to their bench.

Um, I'm not making any judgments on whether Ovechkin is a jackass here or not, but the "pregame routine" thing is the stupidest excuse ever.  If it was his pregame routine to shoot a whole bunch of pucks as hard as he can at the wall at that spot, is that an excuse if he hits the kid?

Whether or not Ovechkin is a **** for this, I'll leave up to the kid, but just because you "always do something" doesn't mean you get to go ahead and automatically have the right to do it whether or not someone else is in the way.  That's just stupid.

I was apart of the vote.  I had nothing to do with it.

And why should Tort's mind have changed between the start of the shootout and that point?  He knew when he named Jokinen that far into his list that it's round-by-round sudden death, and yet you think he would put out the second best option?  Right.

What if you're facing a goalie you don't have much shootout tape on, and the goalie flashes a glove hand that you know is going to beat that third-best shooter you have who loves going glove side, because you blindly ordered them 1-2-3 without thinking about it?  Maybe you'd like to change your mind and put your 4th best guy there because he goes five-hole and this goalie looks like he's got a five-hole the size of Montana.  I can think of lots of reasons.

Howard wouldn't be in this position if the Wings actually had a capable back up for him. It's not his fault he had to carry this team for so many games as a rookie and is now feeling the effects of such a long season.

Blame Holland for not getting a serviceable back up in my opinion.

Howard was supposed to be the serviceable backup.  Unfortunately Ozzie ran out of youth.

He let in 2 softies in Game 3 alone. The obvious wrist shot to the short side and the one where he was WAY out of position to stop the tap in. And not to mention all the HUGE rebounds he leaves on the most pedestrian of shots that end up in the net.

The second one you mention, he was in position to make the stop had the defense done its job and forced the puck outside.  The defense should NEVER have let the puck carrier skate right into the middle like that.

I love Ozzie to death but I think this was the season that marked the end of his career as a dependable starter.  I mean, he's 37.  I think Howard's really only let in one softie the whole series - this isn't comparable to 2006 and Legace.

After all this time, I think the Wings really need to get with the times and update their look.

Perhaps they could add something with black in it for the intimidation factor.

Red is fine and they could keep it as an accent color, but it's gotten old.

I think a black home jersey, change the logo, and maybe a red third jersey just for throwback's sake would be best.

Lose the outdated look and get with the times.

For too long, they've looked like a team from the 1950's.

Old-time used to look good, but this is the 21st century.

Or, they could add a black and silver third jersey to help with merchandise sales.

Long overdue for this, if you ask me.
