I don't think the Wings were "hiding" Datsyuk. He's injured, no reason to play him in that third period. When you're playing against a dirty team that has been embarrassed at home in a huge game sometimes even having an enforcer wouldn't help much. Neil and Cowen are idiots and why take that chance? I mean Neil was taking head shots at a guy that just came off a concussion. You can't really do much about idiots like him.Oh and I don't know if this was mentioned yet but the Wings and Sens both won on the road and both with scores of 4-2 and 6-1, that's really awkward.
To me that sends a strange message. If Datsyuk is in that bad shape should he play at all? Dirty teams will be dirty, blowout or not. Imagine if the Red Wings would face the Sens in a playoff series. That would wear us down. An enforcer would give Neil something else to think about besides targeting our top players. That would help tremendously in my opinion.
Played great until the end. Offense looks dangerous and can control the play. Defense, though...man, that defense.
Most painful was the empty net goal. Why the hell would you dump the puck deep when you have an empty net?
Stupid decision-making. We dump way too often.
Holland HAS to get a defenseman. Even if he overpays. We are a playoff team. It's time to commit and invest in a run. Make us stronger, Kenny.
I don't know. Had the offense burried more of those chances, then a late goal like that wouldn't have mattered. Detroit cannot finish the game when they have the chance and that comes back to bite them in the third every time. Howard made one huge mistake in this game but made a few good ones to keep the score low.
An unbiased observer watching these last 20 games would say the same thing
It's the same thing that happened with Ericsson. He was dreadful and the forum hated him. Than he improved a lot but people still cursed his name over things that weren't his fault. It took almost a year of good play for LGW to acknowledge his improvement
I'm with you. Quincey is not so bad. For every mistake he makes he usually makes a really good defensive play too. He does take a lot of penalties and his offense has been a disappointment though.
Weak call on Smith for the trip if you ask me. People blaming Smith and Howard for this loss just prove you need a scapegoat. Not many goalies will stop a PP onetimer by Ovechkin when he gets to load up like that.
We need a legitimate enforcer and a scoring powerforward imo. A powerforward is virtually impossible but I would settle for a skilled hard working guy like Callahan, Dubinsky or Matthias. The latter is perhaps a possibility as he seems to struggle a bit lately.
Jurco will be sent down. He can get more ice time in GR anyway so it is not a big deal. Sheahan however should be a regular even with a healthy team. He has outplayed all the others including Andersson. Tatar should also have a spot.
