#2115239 Isles vs Pens

Posted by HOCKEY MATTERS on 11 February 2011 - 10:49 PM

both teams should be proud of themselves. the nhl won't call penalties with consistency, so these two highly esteemed and honorable teams use their highly regarded reputations to point out the flaws in the referees. plus, i don't give a s***....a good beatdown on s***tsberg is always in order.

So they played like siht again. So they got another goalless 5 on 3. So they rang enough shots off the post it sounded like a church bell. So they cough the puck up all night long again. So they can't clear their own defensive zone. So they can't catch a lucky bounce to save their lives. So what. Does anyone truely believe this funk will last?

31 pages of sniveling? really?

Howard is a horrible goalie. No way Red Wings go deep in the POs with that sieve in net.

I don't care who's in net, if they score 0 goals the won't win either. The boys just couldn't get anything going. Here's to them kicking butt next game.

One Wing helping out Howie. One Wing skating into the play when it's already too late. Howie hung out to dry. Again.

Well he got walloped by Nash, but Hank is still having a great game thus far.

Pretty slick elbow by Nash....the camera saw it but not the refs

I think the economy (particularly Michigan) is going to make a noticeable positive turn in 2011.

just sayin....

#2104771 Wings Have To Toughen Up Soon

Posted by HOCKEY MATTERS on 25 January 2011 - 09:49 AM

turning down fights is not always a bad thing when the other team loses an inferior player for 5 minutes. i remember abdelkader was going to go with iginla (bless him) but the refs got in the middle - that would have been a good trade. a few years ago cleary went with pronger to get him off of the ice for 5 minutes. we have really smart players.

This. And the success of the Wings power play lately demands that we go 5 on 4 as often as we can.

Of course they don't care. Therein lies the problem. I'm not a native North Carolinian, but I do live here now, and I take pride in where I live, the same as anyone else here. So when people start dumping on where I live, that's a problem.

It's not my fault that some people here are ignorant buffoons.

God. It's a joke. We take it about living in Michigan/Detroit all the time. but no, you have to bring out the name calling. I thought you were more consistently open minded than that. You expect everyone to take a thumb in the eye when you are right and they are wrong; to be more tolerant of others rights. But when you get dogged a little, by a joke, I might add, we're ignorant buffoons. Nice. Why you gotta bully your way through things/ people all the time. You're not that important you know. Or no more important than anyone else. Even if they are wrong and you are right. Sometimes you come across as flat-out mean, imho. It's not my intention to bait or flame. Just wondering why you don't lighten up some?

#2097918 In Remembrance of Mindfly

Posted by HOCKEY MATTERS on 15 January 2011 - 07:57 AM

Unless mindfly did/posted something noticeably goofier than his usual antics, I wonder about a ban also. Heard a rumor that it is a perma-ban also. I find that disturbing. There are some folks around here that are complete assholes compared to mindflew. Rivalred's comment, albeit convoluted, in that other thread makes sense to me now. There's a few folks I was/am sorry to say don't post here anymore, and sometimes I wonder why. There were a couple of "bullies" riding around in "possies" when I first got here and I actually thought some of the banter was hilarious. They are all gone. There are still "bullies" riding around here pouncing on stuff they don't like, and it seems nothing happens to them. I was never a stats kind of fan, don't really follow much other hockey than the Wings anymore, and I don't post my opinions here very often because of some of the treatment I got from some folks that are still active here. I'm not whining or crying about any of this....I could defend my point of view and back the assholes or bullies or whatever down if I felt like it, but I just don't care anymore. I don't know the reason for the ban, but it seems some folks are grumbling about consistency.

Dead To Me is that I just don't care anymore?

They ought to use Murph in one of those "Real Men of Genius" commercials.....

...so here's to you, Mr. Bombasted Wings Announcer-Guy....who cares if your speech is unintelligible...you got two fistfulls of Dollar Dogs..... (katie bar the door)

I think there should be more fights. Period. Warranted or not. Donnybrook or staged. I don't care. More fights please.

The Wings need to improve in their own end, imho. They go to the boards in the offensive zone, but it seems to me that in their own end they kind of hover near the circles or in front of the net....almost standing still. I hope they stop that. Pylons on the D make it so much harder for a netminder.
