Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended
datsyukfan2000 replied to Matt's topic in General
I wonder what would happen if Nabakov decided to retire, since he is 35, the CBA says his salary counts against Islanders books. That would be a big FU to the Isles. -
Good interview, Nick is pure class as usual and do love the jab at Homer (you can hear chuckles in the background). Look at the praise by his peers, I don't think I have read an interview by Orr that did not praise Nick on his ability to be at the right place - right time, Orr praises his smarts/vision and making the hard look easy. Screw Melrose as he doesn't know squat, when Bobby Orr breaks out the praise it makes Melrose insignificant also Scotty Bowman doesn't give out the praise much. I remember a interview with Nick and they asked him if he ever had to go see Coach Bowman for being in his doghouse, Nick said "Never went to the Coach's office".

One thing I noticed at that rules camp a few weeks ago, Hitch has lost a lot of weight. I had to do a double take on him.

Remember that like yesterday!!!!! Lidstrom and Yzerman stepped up in that series, won't ever forget Stevie playing on one leg!
-
I wish Dom the best of luck, he was the most dominating goalie I have seen in my lifetime. He was in a class all his own during his prime!!! Most definitely a first ballot Hall of Famer!

They showed the first two stars of the game on NHL.com before cutting away, Dats was 1st Star followed by 2nd Star Franzen. Dats last steal, that he converted for the empty-netter was a beauty.

No Matter What, Grigorenko Staying Stateside…I Think
datsyukfan2000 replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
I am wondering if Grigs spent more time lifting weights than cardio workouts. Zetterburg was not in the best of shape last year cardio wise as he spent more time lifting weights to bulk up and the result he lost a step until he spent more time getting his skating back. Just stick Grigs with Chelios and his workout program, it won't be long till he has his wind back. -
I'd still take Fed's over Lang any day of the week. Fed's can skate backwards on his worst day faster than Lang can skate and Fed's isn't defensive liability unlike Lang.

You could see fear in Quenneville's eyes as Joey was yelling at him, also noticed how the Blues were staying well away from the Wings bench. As Mickey Redmond says "That jackhammer will chip any type of cement"

Damn Ozzie kills me in that pic!!!!

Kudo's to Selanne for the kind words, I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg of Flip's talent. His comments remind me of what Lidstrom and Sundin said about Hank when he was a rookie.

Great news, I can't wait to see him, Dats, and Big Bert on the same line!!!

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?
datsyukfan2000 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
He looked pretty good, looks like he was feeling out where his teammates are out on the ice, it looks like Dats was pretty quickly getting used to where Big Bert was at. It was amusing to see Bert and Homer both park in front of the net, I swear a few times I couldn't see Norrena. I think Babcock should have tried Flip a few times in Homers spot on the first line. -
Nick will be happy too, he no longer has to defend against him. It will be nice to see him on our PP, goaltenders are going to have fits as they have to contend with him and Homer.

I can still see Quennville with his eyes wide open, scared sh#$less as though Joey was going to come over the glass and proceed to commence a beatdown. It was funny too that all the Blues on the ice were staying away from the Wings bench too, IIRC Mickey was commenting on it too.
