yep... I open TSN to watch highlights of yesterday's games...

of the 30 videos available on top page of the NHL section about 15 are about the return of Crysby...

you sure don't get the impression that he's shoven down our throats, huh?



I'm glad he's back. I'll be even happier two weeks from now, when I can watch a game/read an article
that doesn't mention the Jesus Crosby rebirth... mind you, he's just a player. good one, but just a player...

not necessarily. he is a decent D-man

but he did play in Toronto, hence he was overhyped and, considering he was one of their better and
more constant player, there was no chance for him to escape being overrated (by Toronto media) :D

I'm kinda ready to bet, his stock will rise once playing with less media pressure in Carolina ;)

I don't, and am not sure about the general nature of your observation.

truth being said, it's often difficult to find sympathy towards Canadian teams once their fanbases start proclaiming "this is the year"
and keep yapping about whatever calls refs missed. Leafs fans used to be particularly brutal with this (every season between 1998-2005
they proclaimed Maple Laughs cup winners around mid-February), and now that they suck it's Nucks fans who do most of such stuff.
I'm far from imputing this is any majority of fans, because most Nucks fans are nice and passionate ppl, but it's difficult to escape this hype.
I can easily imagine other fans having similar feelings towards Wings hype in 2002 for example.

now Lombardi was fined 50k while Lemieux escapes with nothing, and people still wonder why so many fans say, that the league is biased towards Penguins...

bad thing: Nick Lidstrom will not have some rest. and I'd rather have him spare some forces for Cup Finals. he's uberhuman but it's still 40
so every day off is better than some stupid popularity contest.

good thing: the rest of the guys get some days off. if I had a choice I'd rather enjoy my All Star Game in June when my Wings face whomever wins the East ;)

The ASG is like a glorified free skate. Their practices are 10x harder on them than the ASG will ever be. Nick will be fine.


I'd rather sit at home, watch a movie or take my kid to swimming pool or cinema,
than take the flight, stay outside my house for a couple of days and above all
have to endure some Marc-Andre Flurry giving interviews like he was, I dunno,
quality goalie or something like that...  :blush:

no point for discussion to me. Pominville had no chance to see the guy coming and
was in vulnerable position. there's no discussion as to whether Hjalmarsson did this
on purpose. he did it.

and just to remind: league is supposed to be discouraging players from unnecessary
(and it was not like Hjalmarsson was finishing something) checks of vulnerable guys.
here we have a perfect example of guy knowingly targeting defenseless guy.
5 + game is perfectly just. whether this is subject to suspension... I don't recall
Hjalmarsson being repetitive offender so he gets the benefit of the doubt but if
he continues doing stuff like that, I'd rather see the NHL give him a game or two.
