#2257958 2/17 GDT : Predators 1 at Red Wings 2

Wow, talk about a soft call.

Its a standard interference call. I do get what Mickey is saying though. Where is he going to go? At the same time, its a easy call.

#2256289 Joey Mac

I was all about having Joey be the backup and waiving Conklin. At the same time, I would send Joey down to GR and keep Conklin up at the Wings. Joey will get more ice time, plus he has a two way contract which means we can bring him up and send him down without any restrictions. If you want to play a backup, then bring Joey up and scratch Conklin.

I do agree with everyone here, Joey has played well the last few games. He deserves his shot.

And just like that, after Dats scores, the doubters that all but gave up on the 20 home win streak have their faith restored.

Joey deserves to be our backup for the rest of the season. Thats for sure. Send down Conklin to the Griffins.

#2253429 Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

Posted by Nightfall on 07 February 2012 - 04:18 PM

Yeah, but you only get so many chances in a time frame. Lids will retire eventually and then we will take a huge step back. There is no guarantee that we will be contenders after that point. Columbus has a power forward in Nash and can't do anything with him. I am not saying we will become the BJ's... I am just saying that we are going to end up having to give something to get something. I stand by thinking our European prospects being better than our North American prospects in forwards.

People said the same thing about Yzerman retiring, Shanny leaving, Fedorov leaving, and so on. This team goes far beyond Lids. When he retires, the Wings will reload. They always do.

I have to agree and say not to trade prospects for a 42 year old rental. Its just not worth one shot at the cup for a player that could provide top scoring talent for the Wings for many years to come.

I'm not blaming the refs for the losing part, I'm blaming them for bad calls

Thats just a bullcrap excuse. Three of the calls I have seen so far are no brainer calls to me.

Joey's fault! He has to stop that!

Blame the goalie!

/sarcasm

That was a brutal turnover.

Ah.

Well.

If they just hadn't waited till the 3rd period to show up, who knows?

Huge effort by Joey Mac.

I agree. The 2 minute 5 on 3 comes to mind right away. How can they not capitalize on that chance?

Lol Cleary. Like he was going to score.

Why not Franzen?

Franzen can't score on a truck. :D

Seriously, I don't know. I would have went with Franzen instead as well.

Happy Hudler!

Man, I sure am glad that we listened to those Hudler haters and traded our second place scorer in goals so far this season. :D

#2251139 1/31 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Flames 1

The site was down for nearly half the game.

True, I am just saying that even if it was up the whole game, we would have only seen 10-12 pages in the win. If it was a loss, we would have seen 16-18. Thats the MO here. You should know that by now.

Can't disagree with that. Definitely doesn't make for good television though. Not that Flames do (or should) care about that. A nice contrast of the best and worst the game has to offer.

Yup, I agree. It was worse than Devil's hockey back in the day.

Not much discussion - guess the main factor was that the Wings won.

Fixed it for you.

Be happy you don't get it. There is nothing to get other than those people are missing the entire poiint of Red Wing hockey. And Filp is finally having his breakout year, yet people want to trade him.

Makes me glad Ken Holland is in charge.

#2250165 What happened to Zetterberg's scoring touch?

Posted by Nightfall on 26 January 2012 - 11:06 PM

9 goals
26 assists
35 points
A team leading 152 shots

Is Z struggling? Maybe. I think he is more frustrated thats for sure. Last year he had over 300 shots in 80 games and scored 24 goals with 80 points.

I am not disappointed with Z. He is going through a rough patch right now and I will continue to support him. He is going to turn things around on the scoring side. If not, he is still one of the best players on the team.

Keep the faith!

For those of you who are hockey fans, the Patrice Bergeron NHL 36 episode is worth watching as well. What a great series on the NBC Sports Network.
