Posted by NOW THERE YOU SAID IT! i was listening to a tech show on the radio and they were saying that true lifelike 3d through screenless holographic tv setups are about 7-8 years away and to not waste your money on this interim 3d stuff either. If that looked real, that would be amazing! I wonder how the older games would translate into holographic... imagine seeing the wings greatest games boxset in holographic 3d like theyre in the room with you, damn!I don't get all the hate about 3D. It's not the '50s "jump out at you" 3D, it's an immersive environment, at least when done right (ala Avatar). That kind of 3D is awesome and I think everything should be broadcast like that before too long, it paves the way for holographic viewing. It just adds so much depth to everything.
That being said, it won't catch on until the glasses-less TVs come out next year and even then until they go down in price and more stuff is offered in 3D.
