Holmstrom: Should he have come back to play?

Believe it or not, one of the guys on another BB I'm onactually claimed that Homer was at fault because he was "admiring his pass" and should have saw the hit coming and avoided it.

Capitals' Semin kicked off Team Russia

The Hockey News.com has learned Washington Capitals star Alexander Semin has been kicked off the Russian national team, prompting Semin's agent to refer to the fiasco as, "the most bizarre situation I've ever experienced in hockey, ever." Mark Gandler, who represents Semin, said the Russian team's decision to remove Semin from the team because he arrived hours after the team's first practice was unreasonable and far too harsh. "I don't understand it…there is no explanation for it," Gandler said. "Alexander did nothing wrong, but even if he had, the punishment doesn't fit the crime." Seems like the release of Semin is hard for his agent to swallow...

    Calgary Fans

Despite what some may think of Iggy, they'd love to have him on their team. He's an awesome player. But he's got to get his team together for game 3. The Flames are a dangerous team, but they need to play smarter and help Kipper out a bit more. And also, the Wings have been doing a great job of putting that old "The Wings aren't tough" talk to bed. They've certainly been very physical in this series so far. Babcock needs to keep them moptivated and keep doing that. The Wings, so far, have been playing much smarter than the Flames. If Calagry ( Couldn't resist) get's their heads screwed on straight it could turn out to be a much different series. They have the talent.

    Osgood

Being a goalie (and not anywhere near an NHL calibre one, just a beer league schlub) I can say that almost every shooter expects a goalie to do down in a butterfly because almost all of them do. Hence, the high glove side shot most of the time. Osgood does it on almost every single shoot-out shot. He's too predictable in that scenario. If he were to, once in a while, stay on his feet when he challenges a shooter, he'd get scored on less glove side high.

    Osgood

Two words. High glove side. Ok, that's three. Watch his shootouts. Almost every goal that is scored on him is the same thing. High glove side. Scorers know how to beat him. He does the same thing. Drops to his knees on every shot in a shoot-out. They go high glove side, they beat him. It's a fact. Watch the games. In a regular game when he gets support, he plays very well. When it's one on one, he's beatable. Need proof? http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/photo?slug=c1b...107&prov=ap Almost every shootout goal he's given up has been carbon copy of this. But yes, I like Ozzie. He just has to stay on his feet on occassion. Butterfly isn't always the answer.

    Brodeur's acheivement

If Luongo was so hot, how come he couldn't do that when he was in Florida? Anyone? Beueller? C'mon, easy answer. Anyone can play. Same answer as Rolloson last year. He went to a team that can support him as well as he supports them. Switching teams doesn't make him a superstar. You need a team AND a goalie to have a good record. One can't do it without the other.

    Vancouver Canucks

Exactly right. The Canucks have always been a team on the cusp of alot of success. They can get the job done, but for a long time, the biggest problem they have had is in net. Now they have that piece of the puzzle. As a team, they are really doing well. All I hear sometimes is that Luongo is the team. Sorry, he's the goalie. They have forwards who can score, defense who can break up plays and support the goalie and a goalie who can make saves when needed and steal some potential goals. Luongo is part of the answer, not the answer. As a team, they play great. It is not only because of Luongo. He is finally on a team that can support him as much as he can support a team. If Luongo has gone to another team, he may not be having the success he is. Same thing with the Canucks, they would still have a hole in goal if Luongo hadn't have gone there. Plus, if Luongo was the answer to a teams woes, why wasn't the Panthers more successful with him? The answer is simple. They didn't have as good of a team. He played very well, but the Panthers were a horrible team. No goalie could have saved them. But there will always be people who don't see the game as a whole and focus on small aspects of it.

Haseks argument with an Ice Girl

Being a goalie, I would have gotten down on the ice and started to stretch. Better view. Yes, I'm allowed to be a pig once in a while.
