#2458184 Datsyuk concussion: To Return Tuesday

Pavel will be at the Joe on Tuesday, but not sure if he'll practice.  "Feeling better" per the Freep.

#2457933 11/24 GDT: Red Wings 3 @ Sabres 1

However bad the Wings get, and honestly they are not all that bad, it's nothing compared to the 70s and 80s.  THAT was a sad time to be a Wings fan.  Everyone be grateful for that at least.

Ugh god damnit. The refs f***ed us so hard.

No, our power play and lack of net presence f***ed us hard.  Refs just lubed.

God I love these kind of games. This is real hockey. Its just a shame the wings can't handle it....and being in the east its only going to continue and get worse.

I love a good, physical game as well.  I don't like the cheap s***.  There's a difference.

#2455048 Today's Chuckle - NHL selling team Snuggies

Posted by vladdy16 on 18 November 2013 - 07:17 PM

Wings fans should throw the Snuggies on the ice during playoffs instead of octopi.

Why, because the 2 arms represent the second round of the playoffs, which we can't seem to get past?

#2451638 Chicago fans steal players helmet off head and dump beer on him

Posted by vladdy16 on 07 November 2013 - 03:23 PM

I thought the whole thing was pretty funny. Those trashing Chicago need to get a grip every city has fans who would do that. I liked Pardy's reaction after the game as well. Is there cheap beer at Chicago games because he was hammered.

Think about doing it?  Absolutely.  Actually do it?  Not so much.  I would be sorely tempted if presented with the opportunity to dump a beer on Pronger, but I wouldn't actually go through with it.

And there's no one on the planet not an active Chicago fan that wouldn't agree that their fanbase ranks amongst the surliest in the NHL.

Helmet-stealing guy was flat-out wasted.  The woman dumping the beer probably wasn't.  She had the presence of mind to move the glass before dumping the beer.

#2451393 Tootoo Waived

Posted by vladdy16 on 06 November 2013 - 02:09 PM

Why cant people get this thru their heads, Sammuelson cannot we waived, sinces his a veteran on a multi-year his cap relief is only 100k. He is far more valuable as the 23rd man with a cap hit of essentially 100k. They tried to buy him out but he was injured, unfortunate circumstance. The guy being sent down has to be someone who doesnt dress every night, and thats leaves Eaves or Tootoo. When Everyone is healthy that means Eaves will probably get cut too.

People are talking about preferences, not what can actually happen.  If they had to pick one person to go, Sammy would be first.  Now relax.

I agree that Sammy should have been the first one on the chopping block, but I'm nowhere near heartbroken over waiving 22.  I never understood the signing to begin with, and he never filled the role that most here hoped he would.

Let's hope the Mule's scoring streak kicks in tonight.  With our D, we're going to need to score a LOT of goals.

GO WINGS!!

(Sorry for the lame GDT - I'm at work and don't do Photoshop anyway.  If Hockeytown or FlashyG show up, this will be amended)

#2444643 Pronger is done

Posted by vladdy16 on 15 October 2013 - 12:33 PM

Pronger didn't do anything worse than what Chelios had done in his career.  As others have mentioned, he made the teams he was on better and carried a couple of them on his back to the Finals.

I'm surprised Holmgren said that.  It's a pretty obvious thing but it's not like Pronger had announced retirement or anything.  He'll never play hockey again but hopefully his symptoms improve so he lead a mostly normal life and enjoy spending time with his kids.  Last I heard his symptoms sounded awful.

True, but Chelios evolved.  Pronger stayed an SOB.  Some people like that, I get it.  I never appreciated him.

Yawningly anti-climatic, and I can't say I'm heartbroken.  I've had a good hate on for Pronger pretty much his entire career. Glad he's not really hurt or anything, but I'm just as glad he's not playing anymore.

Can't say I'm really upset for Philly, either.  Does that make me a bad person?

#2444273 10/14 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Bruins 2

B's announcers talking about how Detroit plays a good, clean game and doesn't need enforcers because they play the game "the right way."

#2443234 Nashville Predators first nhl game on Oct 10TH,1998

Posted by vladdy16 on 10 October 2013 - 09:20 PM

I envy Preds fans - they got to be there at the inception of their team.  What wouldn't I give to see the Wings starting out?  Man, those were the days -  when men were men and refs nonexistent.  Bettman too!

#2442731 Ex-Coyotes owner off hook for Gretzky’s $6.5M.

Honestly, it serves them right for supporting this travesty for so long.  The NHL took over the team, they took over the debts.

#2440436 Parros Concussed

Posted by vladdy16 on 02 October 2013 - 08:36 AM

The original play happened off screen.  Once they showed the tape, it was pretty nasty.  He seemed to be out cold for a few minutes, then he tried to get up and couldn't.  Really glad he didn't shatter his jaw or anything.

CBC was muttering about how they needed to get fighting out of the game because of things like this.  If that's their logic, heck, they should take the ice out of the game.  That's the really dangerous part.
