#2009150 Oilers waive Souray

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 02 July 2010 - 11:52 AM

He'll get picked up by the Blackhawks and him and Campbell will chill out together back on the point with those fat contracts. Hey the blackhawks weren't trading away the whole team for nothin'.  :P

#2008469 The new TBL

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 01 July 2010 - 04:09 PM

Not to break up the Stvie love-fest, but he really hasn't done anything yet.

Ellis is a solid move I think, not convinced the other two are all that great. Not bad moves, but not great either. A 4 year deal for St.Louis is a bit risky, but it is a decent price and he's not showing real signs of declining. Meszaros isn't a terrible player, and his contract wasn't that bad. And with the weak FA crop this year, it won't be easy to replace him.

He still has too much work to do to make any judgement yet.

I love Stevie Y don't get me wrong. And I for sure hope he succeeds at whatever he does. With that being said I agree with you. He hasn't really done much of anything, and Tampa Bay isn't really any better then last season, on paper at least. He needs to do a little more then what's done in order to get a little praise. Anyways good luck to the greatest capitan of all time. Can't wait for you to return to hockey town!

#2006587 Modano done in Dallas

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 29 June 2010 - 11:41 AM

I must admit I do not know anything about the Stars prospects and this is a new cap world but to me this is a slap in the face to Modano. Let him decide if this is it he has earned that right.

I would have to agree with you. That's pretty s***ty of the Stars orginization to do to Modano. He's been the staple in that franchise for years. I wouldn't mind seeing him come and play in Detroit to finish out his career since he's Livonia, Michigan native. Of course the #9 isn't available though ;)

#2003950 Savard to waive no trade clause

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 24 June 2010 - 11:26 AM

I am all for it. 33 years of age and 5 more years on his contract isn't bad. Savard is a great player with some gas left in the tank. You can't let the one concussion stop you from going for it. If he was a repeat offender for head injuries then I'd take it into consideration but 1 isn't that bad. For the first price I'd take him. I personally think he would fit in here nicely. Just depends what we would have to give up to get him...

Does this mean Boston is trading him for sure, and those are the only teams he is willing to go to? Or did he just randomly come out and say "hey if I was to get asked to be traded I would only accept to Det, OTT, or TOR."

Edit: Added italicized text.
Fixed grammar error to please Crymson, bolded text

#2002847 Scott Niedermayer retiring

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 22 June 2010 - 06:10 PM

I am going to be honest, I liked him when he played for New Jersey. He was one hell of a defenseman. It seems as ever since coming over to the Ducks his style of play changed and he turned into a scum bag and I lost respect for the guy. Anyways SEE YA LATER!

Also note; All the players I grew up watching are starting to fade out and it is kinda sad. I mean there is GREAT young talent and I do not mind watching all the young stars, but the memories of all the players I grew up watching, it kinda sucks.

#2000690 Holland thinking of re-signing Kirk Maltby

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 17 June 2010 - 11:21 AM

This was the LAST thing I wanted to see on these forums. Seriously Kenny, Malt's has been good for us for many years but his time has come, do the Redwings and all of us a favor and move on. Graet career Maltby but you are no longer valueable to the Redwings or NHL team for that matter

#1999635 Afinogenov rejects Thrashers' offer

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 14 June 2010 - 08:55 PM

I have been saying for the last 2 years now to sign this guy.  First of all I know he has been known to be bad defensively and lazy at times, on the Sabers.  He was great with Atlanta and must have been a little humbled making 800k there as well.   My main reason I think he would do well in Detroit is his countryman Datsyuk.  Dats is a very well respected hockey player that other players (Bertuzzi, Hossa) say is the most talented player in hockey...and for Maxim to get a chance to play with him?  I dont know I just think they would kick some ass.

   Example: Afinogenov-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
                    Flippula-Zetterberg-Franzen
                   Hudler-Abdelkader-Cleary
                      Draper-Helm-Eaves
                               Ritola

..........and if Bert could magically get signed too, put Z&D with Maxim :yowza:

I like that idea if that could somehow, someway get done! That'd be sweet!

#1999461 Teams considering buy-outs

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 14 June 2010 - 01:54 PM

Man whatever happened to Cheechoo. That guy really has slid downhill, and quite fast I may add. He was on top of the league what; three or four years ago? Now he is almost worth no more then a hockey trading card.

I agree with the comments on Moreau but he is one of those guys I just never liked. I don't have a reason at all, I just don't like him. Something about him, lol. But like you both stated he would fit in well here.

#1999449 Afinogenov rejects Thrashers' offer

Posted by Hockey13Playa on 14 June 2010 - 01:34 PM

What do you think about making a pitch for Afinogenov? I don't think he will command to much money. I think he'd be a solid pick up for the Redwings 3rd line. Maybe see some 2nd line minutes if he proves he can play and step his game up (after recent slumps with Buffalo and Atlanta). A one-two year deal wouldn't be so mad in my opinion. What do you guys and gals all think about this?
