#2012764 Brett Lebda signs with Toronto

Posted by dragonballgtz on 08 July 2010 - 04:05 PM

Did you all listen to the radio interview? At the start he makes it clear the Wings really didn't push for his services, they asked but other then that he knew they did not want him. Also the way he sounds in the interview is a respectable tone. George Malik just twisted the interesting words and used them against Lebda. I am not a fan of Lebda in any way (I called Toronto suckers for paying him that much) but lets bash him for telling the truth. There was no room for him and he wanted to play more. He got way more then Detroit would ever give him so I cannot blame him for going to Toronto.

If Getzlaf played the way he did against us in the playoffs two years ago all the time then yes. Wasn't he hurt or had the flu, what ever it was dude was a beast. None of the Wings could move him.

#2011865 Red Wings Making Play for Modano

Posted by dragonballgtz on 07 July 2010 - 10:39 AM

Eaves is yet to sign his offer, which was given to him long before Modano was anywhere near a reality, he has his offer, if he wanted to be here he would be. This is not a case of Holland leaving Eaves out in the wind, Eaves knows what the Wings offer is and if he had signed it, the Wings would have less cap space to throw at Modano.

Eaves was a Wing for less than a year, what makes you think he will stay here for years, or even be able to crack the roster in years to come?

That was so they could hold onto his rights. I will bet they just added the 10% to his contract but they knew he would not sign it.

The 1.5 million dollar man is gonna be sitting in the press box if Modano signs. What a waste of cap space

I don't know why I got rated down for this remark but its the truth. Splitting time or not its a waste.

so 3 other teams interested in modano eh? hopefully they offer more to him than the wings and he chooses to go elsewhere

#2011034 Holland thinks he is close to signing Eaves, Miller, and Meech

Posted by dragonballgtz on 06 July 2010 - 09:33 AM

They can afford to do that because Ritola is, no matter how you look at it, redundant to this team, they got many promising prospects ready in 2 years or so

I would rather have a promising prospect then a 40 year old on the brink of retiring.

I must admit I do not know anything about the Stars prospects and this is a new cap world but to me this is a slap in the face to Modano. Let him decide if this is it he has earned that right.

#2000746 How would you feel about Chelios as assistant?

Maybe he would teach some of those young kids some dirty little secrets :P

#2000141 Wings sign Ilari Filppula 1yr/$500k

Posted by dragonballgtz on 16 June 2010 - 10:56 AM

In all honestly I don't get this signing. I understand that its Flip's big bro and all but we don't need another playmaker IMO...more of a Drake type or actual scorer. Unless they plan to use him once someone else moves along come 2012 season and if they can afford him by then.

#1998527 Fire sale in Chicago?

Posted by dragonballgtz on 12 June 2010 - 09:47 AM

Boy, you guys sure do like talking about the Blackhawks.

I'll admit though, it's interesting hearing you guys try to talk yourself into thinking that the Blackhawks will suck this year.

Since a good number already responded to everything else in your post I'll focus on this part.

Most of us here are hockey fans and love to talk about hockey during the off season no matter who or what its about. This "fire sale" thing is big news in the league as of right now and is pretty much the only thing to talk about if you are not a Blackhawks fan. How the 'Hawks decide to deal with this situation can potential have a mass ripple effect on the rest of the League. Other teams getting stronger, maybe the NHLPA not liking how they see some players getting treated (that's very extreme though), again who knows until after the dust has settled.

This is a very interesting topic for an NHL fan.

EDIT: Also I think its funny you said the bold part. There is another thread on these forums that show people chanting "Detroit sucks" when the 'Hawks came home. Not even cheering for their team but booing for another team.

Beat me to it

I'll add a Alexei Yashin to that group and raise a Bobby Holik.

Getting back on topic...yeah its just gonna be interesting to see how CHI handles this.

#1993986 please chicago win the stanley cup

Posted by dragonballgtz on 03 June 2010 - 06:57 PM

legitimately name me one player in the history of the NHL with a statement of how they are more of a ****** than pronger...

can't think of one? that's what i thought.

that's why most of us care if pronger wins the conn smythe, and the cup for that matter. he is a prick of epic proportions. i wish that the sens hadn't s*** the bed and beat the ducks when they won the cup. pronger would be pushing 40 with no cup.
