I'd like to see Gretzky make a fuss to get that money. It's a drop in the "Gretzky Bucket", but it also would show fans that the NHL has ZERO problem trying to screw one of the games very best players.
In the Dreger article, it looks like Scotty Bowman is all onboard the no-fight train:
After reading the quotes from these three NHL executives, it didn't take long for one of the game's most celebrated builders to chime in as well. "I support views of Steve Yzerman, Ray Shero and Jim Rutherford on their opinions for addressing most fighting issues," tweeted the legendary Scotty Bowman on Wednesday afternoon. "Poll all Players."
The "Poll All Players" part caught my eye because as it says in the article, 98% of players polled in 2011-12 do NOT want fighting removed. Some might say don't let the inmates run the asylum, but when all but 2% of the NHL players want fighting left in the game, I think the players know how to handle the on-ice game. Let them play.

Anyone think that maybe Holland said he would be ready because he wants to trade him?
You never know. It very well could be to pump up his trade value by showing that Detroit have publicly said they will keep Tootoo. I hope it's not the trade value boost, as I'm looking forward him to being on our roster all year!

This is NOT a Stanley Cup pushing roster so why not see what the young guns can do and off-load the vets?
Really? This team was a goal away from the Conference Finals while rebuilding on the fly and has improved quite a bit with the new additions (Alfie, Weiss) while keeping the core of Kronner, Z, Pavs, Ericsson and Howard. This is a better roster than last season, especially for guys like Gus, Andy, Deke who have basically doubled their NHL experience, including playoffs.
Lame attempt at a "funny" eulogy. Ripping on Hockeytown? This from the team that dresses like the yellow Voltron character? Ripping on Miller's hair, really? Beating the "how many cups" phrase into the ground. Possibly one of the worst "eulogies" I've had the displeasure of reading. See you in the funny papers Nashville.
One month before the playoffs, all I wanted was the 22 year playoff streak to continue. And 14 intense playoff games later, I'm happy. With an OT loss in Game 7 (which was brutal) against the #1 team, I can only be happy that we got to see them play in big games and gain valuable playoff experience. Great season boys! Can't wait until training camp!
