Just can't agree. Homer gives to this team what he is asked. Terrible skater? Not in his role. Clutch and grab? Not in his role (anymore). Penalties (In everyone's role, but way down this year as to previous seasons - 60, 62, 32 so far this year). Provides the distraction in front of the net that Detroit needs. Like it or not, he's not a sniper, grinder, hitter, fighter, etc... he's a wall meant to be in front of the goalie and tip shots. That is Tomas Holmstom's role.

I read through this thread but this isn't a "new trend". Just ask Paul Kariya (if he can remember) what Scott Stevens did to him about a decade ago. And that was at the blue line, head down, OPEN ICE. These guys getting Kronwalled are idiots who already have the protection of the side boards. It is their own fault. Plain and simple. Coming up the boards without even glancing is asking to be leveled. Granted some hits are dirtier than other, but a lot of them are clean and the clean ones are the forwards fault 100% of the time. But no matter what, clean hits hurt can hurt just as much as dirty hits.

Holy crap, you almost have to feel sorry for him. It's even worse that the Dallas game a few years ago where all he had to do was tap it in for the empty netter and fell down.

I was a minor league season ticket holder for 6 seasons and I owned over 20 team jerseys, none of which were for the team I was supporting. This didn't mean I didn't like my team (Muskegon Fury), I loved them, but I really liked the look of the league's other/defunct teams jerseys (Adirondack Icehawks, Knoxville Speed, Thunder Bay Thunder Cats, Utica Blizzard, Binghampton Icemen, Madison Monsters, etc...)

HOWEVER... when it comes to NHL teams, I'm a hockey player and well rounded in who's who on the other teams around the league. But I would NEVER, EVER wear any other colors than the Detroit Red Wings and and their farm club. My favorite jersey is still my game-worn Griffins #5 Kronwall jersey. Between Griffins and Red Wings jerseys, that's where I draw the line. You can't say I'm ignorant or a homer, because I live and breathe hockey and have very good knowledge of all other teams in the league, but you can't pay me to put a Chicago jersey, or Philly, San Jose, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, etc... It's the Red Wings, it has been since I've been since about 5 years old. Same goes for the Lions, Pistons and Tigers.

I guess what I'm saying is, when it comes to pro teams in my state, I embrace them and NO other team. Those others teams can piss off. Minor league hockey is, in my opinion an exception because, well, it's minor league. But it's Red Wings (Griffins) or nothing as far as apparel at the NHL, hands down.

In my opinion, I don't think he possesses the NHL-caliber talent. I've seen him more than enough in Grand Rapids and he never stood out, except for the repeated mistakes and turnovers. Sure, I'll give some benefit-of-the-doubt on the "Rookie" option, but after watching him play, he's not making "rookie" mistakes and learning, he's repeating the same mistakes continously. Maybe he may just not be "fully cooked", I don't know. But I just don't see the NHL-caliber defenseman in his play.

I started to read this thread at the beginning, but gave up and figured just fast forward to the end...

The waiver system is very flawed. As some have pointed out, this puts a nice big spotlight on it and hopefully some positive change will come of it. Ideally, yes, Kenny did all the legwork, but he obviously knew there was no way in hell Nabby was getting past the bottom feeders, especially at that contract. What are Holland's true intentions? Nobody but Wings management knows for sure.

As far as Nabby not reporting, and the NHL apparently threatening that he would have to play the entire next full season with the Islanders, I'm glad Nabby told the Isles to f*** off. If they REQUIRE him to play, as many have said is possible, just stand there in goal. Don't even try. Hell, standing behind the net would be even better. Nabby's not a potential hall-of-famer, so what if his stats suck for a bit, it will only last a VERY short time. It may be insubordination, but he's already said he WILL NOT REPORT. The NHL will only lookf****** TERRIBLE, as will the Isles.

Snow is a terrible GM for a terrible organization icing a terrible team. I am still of the opinion they should be required to put DiPietro in net for all 82 games even if he's injured as punishment for his ludicrous contract. Wang can go suck, well... a wang. The Isles should just fold already.

I know many people have wondered how many goals the Red Wings have given up during the final 2:00 minutes of a period. I was a bit bored, so I broke down the statistics. I charted the goals scored for and against during the final 2:00 minutes of a period during regulation (last 1:00 minute of OT). The stats are pretty close, for and against.
