Wow, at least there aren't any chicken-littles here... (and the 'hey, we're being realistic' excuse doesn't work)

Umm have you watched these games?

Each and every game so far. Yes, they are terribly rusty/out of sync, but everyone is already calling for every player's head to roll. It's a short season, but we're only 1-2 (if we don't win tonight). Is there a reason to worry? Not yet. And yes, I realize it's a shortened season, but you have to give them a handful of games to hopefully start to gel.

#2330805 Z basically says Bettman should be fired

Posted by thegerkin on 05 October 2012 - 06:54 PM

When classacts like Selanne, Toews, Boyle and now our next captain are fed up you know something has gone very wrong. Also the media has jumped on the fire Bettman wagon at some point the owners wont have a choice other than finally firing this 8 million waste of a human.

I found this quote from Toews:

"It's another disappointing but expected move from the league," Toews told the Chicago Tribune via text from Phoenix, where he is working with his personal trainer. "This seems to be our commissioner's bread and butter; it's almost like he is excited to take away hockey from the fans and the players just because he can."

The longer it lasts the nastier it's going to get...

There is a different between cattle and people, cattle can't leave the ranch.

#2328843 Any NHL'ers from your home town?

I do feel like I'm missing a big name guy here.....
Oh yeah, and Steve Yzerman

How did he pan out? :)

#2323318 Your Favorite Hits

Posted by thegerkin on 31 July 2012 - 09:50 PM

I know someone put a "Best Of" for Scott Stevens, but this hit in particular has always stood above the rest in my opinion.

Hell, Babs was coaching Kariya and even Rafalski gets a mention :)

Hands down Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators. Good size, great hitter, great fighter, gives it all every night.

#2317905 Chris Neil Signs Extension With Ottawa

Posted by thegerkin on 10 July 2012 - 07:15 PM

Bummer. Good for Chris though. He's been my absolute favorite non-Wing since he played in the playoffs with the Muskegon Fury in 1998-99 and his years with the Griffins when they were Ottawa's farm team.

#2300595 Bettman wants to tout the "Original 12" now, haha

Posted by thegerkin on 10 May 2012 - 09:26 PM

Oh, f*** NO. Doing this disrespects Detroit, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, New York and Montreal.

#2280440 For once I agree with Don Cherry

Posted by thegerkin on 08 April 2012 - 09:46 PM

Yeah, it's not like most Canadian (and Pittsburgh fans in general) fans are bias:

TSN Poll: Who would you take first overall in your playoff fantasy draft:

Sydney Crosby: 42.6%
Evgeni Malkin: 32.4%
Pavel Datsyuk: 12.1%
Henrik Sedin: 9.3%
Marian Gaborik: 3.4%

23345 Votes

* Pittsburg players bringing in a total 75% if the votes.

#2272077 reunite the HZD line?

Posted by thegerkin on 20 March 2012 - 03:02 AM

Just can't agree. Homer gives to this team what he is asked. Terrible skater? Not in his role. Clutch and grab? Not in his role (anymore). Penalties (In everyone's role, but way down this year as to previous seasons - 60, 62, 32 so far this year). Provides the distraction in front of the net that Detroit needs. Like it or not, he's not a sniper, grinder, hitter, fighter, etc... he's a wall meant to be in front of the goalie and tip shots. That is Tomas Holmstom's role.
