10/22 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Capitals 7

I finally got in, but I must have tried to login 20 times or more. This was the first problem I've had since signing at the beginning of the season. I hope it was a fluke. Other than this, it's a pretty cool service so far.

I am. Can't log on to my iPad, Roku, or my PC. I called tech support and got nothing but a fast dial tone. WTF??? Glad I paid money for this.

    10 O'Clock Start Time Show's NHL's Disdain

Okay, I feel a bit like John Belushi in Animal House now. I gave my speech. I asked you all if it was over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. I raised my hand and asked: "Who's with me?!?" and ran out the door. ...and no one came. I could almost hear Stork say to me: "What the hell we s'posed to do ya moron?!?" (for those who haven't seen the movie scene - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q47bpOCTcaY) I'll shut up now and watch the stupid game at ten.
  5. Sorry for the rant, but is it just me that thinks that a Saturday night start time of 10:00 pm EST is BULLS**T?!? This game is much more important for Detroit than it is for San Jose. I can understand (somewhat) 7:00 pm west coast start times during the week, as people might still be straggling home from work, but why the hell can't they have an afternoon game on a Saturday - especially during the playoffs? If the NHL had any respect for Detroit fans, they would have stepped in and moved the time down. But then again, Crosby isn't playing... *Rant off*

Shouldn't the NHL step in here?!?

I live in Philly, but am a former Red Wings season ticket holder. I have Directv and purchase Center Ice package every year to see the Red Wings. This year, I've been hit hard - as all Directv subscribers have - by the battle between Directv and Comcast over Versus. I missed game one yesterday, and it appears that throughout the regular season, I will miss a total of nine games - and most importantly - ABOUT HALF OF THE PLAYOFFS. This is really unacceptable. There are many folks out there who do not have access to Comcast. There are many others who do have access to but will not give their money to them. I'm in the latter catagory. It seems that the NHL should step in here to basically demand of Comcast that, either they allow Directv access to Versus (or allow the broadcast to be available via a Center Ice feed) or they will cancel the contract with Versus and discuss it with Comcast in court. It seems to me that the NHL had a presumption that by contracting with Versus, they would have access to a wide audience through the two largest broadcast providers. One of the biggest hurdles to acceptance of hockey - and bringing it back to the major networks - is common viewership. Without fans, the NHL cannot survive. Without broadcast access, the league doesn't have the pool of potential new fans that they need to keep the sport alive. Has anyone heard of any moves by the NHL to intervene in this dispute?

This Team is Too Lazy at the Beginning of Games

Crappy calls aside, the Wings are very well known for three things: 1. Being a 3rd period team (what, you mean there's 60 minutes in a game?) 2. Sitting on two-goal leads until they are fighting for their lives 3. Bread basket shots galore The first two put a lot of pressure on Osgood, which makes you wonder if he's even better than we think he is (and that's pretty good in my book). It's pretty frustrating sometimes to watch the Wings play. It seems on many occasions that they just think they "deserve" to win.

    Online Replays of Games?

I am going to miss the game on Sunday, and it's possible I might miss the game on Friday as well. Are there any places where I can view replays of the games online - perhaps later that same night?

    Hand Shake Moment

For some reason, I feel like this post needs a soft piano music accompaniment. ;o)

    Hand Shake Moment

Well, the Wings do specialize in bread-basket shots! Even with those, however, Hiller still had a great series. If he can keep up that level of play, he'll have a great career ahead of him.

    Hand Shake Moment

I had to admit, as much as I despise the Ducks, I did feel a little bad for Hiller. If it weren't for him, the Ducks would have been out in four. The man was a freakin' wall, and played an unbelievable series. He certainly has nothing to be ashamed about. I can see where he'd be upset. After stunning play, the Ducks lose to - what at the time to Hiller at least - seemed like a bad call. I'm sure he still feels a litle bit that way, even after watching the tapes. That call could have gone either way - had the ref blew his whistle early like in game 3. Otherwise, it was most definitely a goal, but a hard one for Hiller to swallow.

Two Game Sevens on VS at the Same Time?

Thanks! I can remove the paper bag from my hyperventilating mouth now.

Two Game Sevens on VS at the Same Time?

Can anyone suggest some possible online feeds just in case? Sometimes the TV assumes since Philly, NY, and Boston are in nearby states that we must all be in the same market (same thing works for airport backups, too). I just don't want to get caught tomorrow and be forced to wreck my TV and yell inappropriate curse words in front of my kids. It sucks out here sometimes. God forbid if the Wings ever play the Flyers. Comcast locks that broacast down tight. If you have Directv, you're SOL. For a former Wings season ticket holder - THAT SUCKS.

Two Game Sevens on VS at the Same Time?

But I guess the question would be - join when? When the game starts at eight, or after the Red Wings game is over. I don't trust these idiots with the TV schedule. And I would think that the Boston/Carolina game seven is just as important to their fans as ours is. Someone's going to get screwed - and naturally me being an undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, I think it might be me. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to make other plans to see the game - like drive to Detroit (or at the minimum find a feed somewhere). Just in case...
  15. Okay, I'm a little worried. Checking the NHL site, it shows both games tomorrow night on at the same time on Versus. Barring any interstellar time shift, what game are we going to get treated to? I'm remembering the game the other night when we got bumped for an overtime game. I'm also worried whether they might split the games to east and west audiences. I live in Philly. Has anyone heard anything?
