#2203037 Carcillo opens his yapper...

Posted by RusDRW on 09 August 2011 - 03:23 PM

Carcillo is our problem. Not Vancouver's. And we didn't even try to address it. Commodore is laughable. Sometimes it seems team in our division is signing players just to make fun of us.

Looks like their team is improving each and every year. I can track back to three years ago when their third line center was Wellwood and they just traded for Boyle. Pavelski was youngser back then. Next year Couture emerged and they signed Malhotra. Still no Cup. Now they have excellent three-centers punch in Thornton, Couture, Pavelski and they just signed big body Handzus. In addition to that they traded for Burns, signed him, and signed White as well. I see then way better than they were last year. Personally, I think there is no way for us to get past them in the play-offs with Helm and Abdelkader as 3rd and 4th line centers. So, the actual question. Does someone see them as champions next year? To be honest, I do. I wouldn't bet a dime if we meet them in the play-offs.

#2200289 Detroit Fans Have Turned Ugly

22 years of Army is the main reason for "grass was greener back then". Life looks the same when you're following orders all your life while it is naturally changing in a society. Depression as a result of realizing that you whole life was thrown away by your own childish decision... I feel bad for such people.

#2199811 Jimmy Howard Debate Thread

Posted by RusDRW on 20 July 2011 - 11:13 AM

So, your opinion is in most shootouts Howard gives up 2 goals. You expect members to actually let that fly when its complete bulls***?

I watch a hell-of-a-lot more than 70 games a year, and stating that alleged shootout you're referring to *best describes* Howard is complete garbage. First off, when was this shootout? Two seasons ago would be the only time it could've happened. If that be the case, why don't you acknowledge how solid he's become, especially last season giving up 2 total goals while facing 17 shots! That'sf****** great for any goalie in the NHL to only give up.

So, the point being is stop posting garbage that isn't true and pretending one poor performance in a shootout is what best describes him when *facts* and *logic* prove otherwise. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, but similarly everyone has the right to call your points out when you post things as fact when they're not.

But...I digress. Back to ConkBlock! If he's signed for the reported $750k, its a great deal for Kenny and the Wings. That's a solid number for a guy I expected to command $1M even.

Fuuuuuuuck! Well, perhaps, statistics say otherwise... Yes, I mentioned it, that's my mistake. Can you name me a person who would feel safe going with Howard to Game 7 of SCF? He is going to let pucks in. Period. Red Wings somehow need to deal with it scoring, scoring and scoring. I remember (I bet you too) those times when our goalie didn't let pucks in in a game just because he played good not because a team in from of him played excellent. These were 97 and 2001-2002 season. Since then we have Howard-like goalies.

PS Notice, I'm not going to ask you how to "watch hell-lot-more than 70 games". Simply because it is no more than 106 every season for SC finalist.

#2199779 Jimmy Howard Debate Thread

How is this turning into a Howard thread?

I agree a few posts up - most Wings goals against are actually Hudler's fault if you rewind the tape far enough.

Rafalski and Ericsson were also responsible for every second goal :):):) Cause they didn't know how to play defense.

#2199709 Jimmy Howard Debate Thread

---- EDIT By NFM25: This thread was created because I want to continue this discussion and it belongs in its own thread, not the one regarding the Ty Conklin Signing. ----

Did you watch the playoffs this past season? That Jimmy Howard fellow played pretty good in them.

And  to re-signing Conklin if it is true.

plays like below is what I'm talking about

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrHF_cGSbGU

Shootouts are another story. In most of those Howard allowed two goals which is unacceptable.

PS BTW Couture scored exactly the same garbage in 2010 play-offs to win Game 3 for SJS.

#2199695 Red Wings sign Ty Conklin to 1 year contract

Posted by RusDRW on 20 July 2011 - 04:46 AM

Not at all.

I always feel nervous when someone fires a shot at Jimmy. I can only imagine what players feel. If I were a Red Wings player I wouldn't believe Jimmy at all.

#2199691 Red Wings sign Ty Conklin to 1 year contract

Posted by RusDRW on 20 July 2011 - 03:21 AM

Excellent! Once in a while we get a goalie who can actually stop pucks any goalie should stop. With Jimmy Howard any soft wrister from the blue line could be a goal. Last time I had such good feeling was in 2008 when... Ty Concklin played for us.

#2197711 Arbitration Hearing Dates

Posted by RusDRW on 10 July 2011 - 02:59 PM

why should we care? None of these will play for the Red Wings next season and I think most of them will be signed by those dates. Especially, Parise and Weber.

#2196113 Jason Arnott

Posted by RusDRW on 04 July 2011 - 10:28 AM

As far as I remember Arnott has not signed yet. What do you think about getting him for fair price (~2M)? He will allow Filppula to remain our third line center as he should be. The only concern is the speed. He is pretty slow now and need to be paired with faster defensively responsible guys like Cleary. However, he still has a lethal shot from the circle (we did't have that since Hossa left to nowhere in the middle on 2009-2010 season) and could be good on PP.

have no idea who Xavier is... already don't like him :)

#2180987 Brad Stuart

Posted by RusDRW on 30 May 2011 - 01:18 AM

Stuart is one of the most consistent players on this team. Above average in every aspect of the game he always gives his 100%. We need more players like him on our blue line.

I don't like when it happens to other team... Now they give some life to the Red Wings. I don't like it too.

#2143627 Unbelievably bad goal.

Posted by RusDRW on 08 April 2011 - 11:46 AM

I hate penalty complaint s***. Seriously. Waah, they had more power plays the refs gave it to them! Stuff like that. Yes, there are bad calls sometimes. But refs generally get things right. My only major beef is the apparent tendency to try and call it "even" every game, when it often clearly isn't. It's sort of the reverse; by not giving the cleaner team more power plays, you are making it uneven in favor of the dirtier team. If they're even and should be, great.

As for the SJ series... on par is hardly accurate. Yes, the Wings had a hard time maintaining momentum due to penalties. But ultimately the Sharks played better hockey.

Partly agree with you. Well, if they get rid of trying to even games I would be almost satisfied. Almost...

Concerning SJS series. This thread is devoted to a game in which momentum perhaps (leave some chances for play-offs desire) decided the outcome. The rest is "what if" game... If they didn't call some phantom penalties what should have happened? And remember that this is hockey where a team playing slightly better does not necessarily win.

PS What if that Hossa's "goal" was disallowed and Blues scores to make it 3-0? If Hawks make the play-offs and advance further I hope they make commercial saying something like "what if we correctly officiated that game?"
