I agree that Weiss has more points... but he's pretty injury prone... Both of these guys are underacheivers however, Flip already knows the system... Weiss needs a sniper, and Brunner would have been that guy, but word is, he's gone and we filled Brunner's spot with a 40 year old.
With the exception of last season he's played at least 74 games a year since being a full time NHLer. Injury prone he is not.
So does everyone hate this because of the age, possible term, or money? I guess because (I haven't watched ANY Sens games) I was always under the impression Alferdsson was still decent. If so for a year contract, I don't think 3.5 would be bad.
reading other boards, it seems that Bos fans and Sen fans still want him, so take that for what it's worth as well.
My concern is that, at $3.5, the Red Wings could sign someone to bring the youth, size, or speed the team needs. There's nothing wrong with Alfredsson as a signing, but that puts a dent in what's left and yes, age, money, and possible term are all concerns for any player who's over 35.
They aren't he will get it from someone, sadly once again it will be from the DRW
They'll get it, but it's a crazy salary demand for a guy with a couple of good years under his belt. Sure, he could be a late-blooming star in the making, but he could also be a product of his system. I don't want Kenny to spend $42 million against the cap to find out.
The Flyers' successes in swinging for the fences should be an indication of how well these large and unstable contracts work.
