I couldn't resist. I had to make a signature or two out of these. :)

#1950509 Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo

Posted by Travis on 19 April 2010 - 09:47 AM

Dwarfism, in medicine, is the condition of being undersized, or less than 127 cm (50 inches) in height. The term midget is usually applied to physically well-proportioned dwarfs.

Hudler is taller than 50 inches as 50 inches = 4'2 (50 /12 = 4 remainder 2 inches), therefore no he is not. (although I doubt he is the listed 5'9)

But as I said haterz gonna hate.

You are 6'2 yet have how many NHL, KHL, Czech Team goals do you have?

mmmm is height really what makes great hockey players?

Or is it the Bow Leggedness that was rumored long ago (not sure if you have ever heard the expression show me a bow legged french man and I will show you a hockey player.)

Either way I am still having a hard time correlating height to NHL skill level, as Chara is the tallest guy in the league but has no Hart trophies, and even gets beaten out yearly in an award designed specifically for him to compete against only people of his position, well if he is the tallest in the league than with out a doubt he must be the tallest D-man, surely he must be the best.

How much taller than Hudler is Crosby? Is that what makes the talent gap difference, the 2 inches (probably 3) is the reason why Crosby is so much greater than Hudler.

And guys like Theo Fluery have proven sizes matters for little more than an attribute in Hockey.

So I ask why does his size matter other than it gives you something to criticize. He takes a licking and keeps on ticking. How many times has he been lit up at center ice only to never miss a shift.

AH that's it! The fact that he is a midget and has different bone structure than the rest of us and that explains it, so you weren't hating. I had it all wrong you trying to show us all that being a midget was a bonus!

Silly me!

PS most of this is me being sarcastic you are just hating for the sake of hating.

#1950487 Bad Defensive Errors

Posted by Travis on 19 April 2010 - 09:26 AM

Maybe we should shuffle up the defense pairs but I don't know if that will help when all of the defenseman are playing so bad. I actually think Kronwall might be having the worst series out of all of them. There was that miscommunication b/w him and Howard that cost a goal earlier and then in game 3 his stupid cross ice pass in our own zone directly led to a turnover and goal plus he was lucky Howard saved the puck he kicked right at our net.

The botched hand off was Jimmy's fault in my opinion. He hurried it to an unsuspecting Kronwall, which he's done a number of times this series including to Lidstrom yesterday. It's obvious that Jimmy is feeling some pressure, as has been noted.

That 1 looks beautiful.

I haven't seen the hit, but I can guarantee that the likelihood of Ruttu diving is through the roof. Even so, Ruttu cries wolf so often that it definitely worked against him.

I'm gonna be honest, some of those were just unfair...

#2 is just rude.

In related news, Rick Tocchet has been contacted by the Flyers to join the club as their 3rd goalie.

#1935172 Modano

Posted by Travis on 08 April 2010 - 10:43 PM

Indeed. His retirement press conference is going to be extremly emotional. What a guy.

So many hockey fans (myself included) automatically associate the Stars organization with Modano. It would suit them well to retire his number as soon as they possibly can.

Great show of respect to let the fans do their thing, too.

#1934662 Any Word on Hossa's injury?

Posted by Travis on 08 April 2010 - 08:54 AM

I love Hossa and I'll wholly admit that he blew it in the Finals, being injured and putting way too much pressure on himself to score - he cracked.

Kudos to Seabrook protecting their investment. Good to see him back at it.

He jumped ship to Pittsburgh, he missed his chance. He then jumped to Detroit, he missed his chance. Then he jumped ship to Chicago, and if their is a God, he'll miss his chance again. He doesn't deserve a cup.

He didn't jump ship to Pittsburgh, Atlanta - in true Atlanta form - traded him off at the deadline. He got shipped out of Ottawa the day he re-signed with them in the Heatley trade, you'll have to forgive the man if he turned into a bit of a mercenary. I'm sure you were so upset when he came to Detroit. I can hear you now saying, 'Oh, he jumped ship! How dare he come here, he doesn't deserve a Cup!' I think we can all agree that signs pointed to him wanting to stay here, we just couldn't reach an agreement.

#1929129 Top 10 Red Wings

Posted by Travis on 31 March 2010 - 08:19 AM

Lidstrom is easily no.1 on the list. Only a blind Steve Y fan would claim otherwise.

Lidstrom
Yzerman
Fedorov
Datsyuk
Zetterberg
Shanahan
Osgood
Holmstrom
Vernon
Konstantinov

Maybe I'm a Stevie fanboy, but I can't imagine not putting him at the top of the list. The Captain, the Cups, the face of this organization for his entire career - how is this stuff not worthy of a #1 spot?

Aside from that, these lists are so subjective that you couldn't possibly claim someone has to be a Stevie Y fanboy to list him at #1. There hasn't even been a criteria established as to what it is we're basing this on.

1. Yzerman
2. Lidstrom
3. Shanahan
4. Federov
5. Zetterberg
6. Datsyuk
7. Osgood
8. Holmstrom
9. Draper
10. Chelios

#1925124 Buying NHL jerseys on eBay

Posted by Travis on 26 March 2010 - 10:44 AM

I'm looking at NHL jerseys on eBay and the prices are insanely low. Some of these jerseys would go for well over $100 on NHL.com, but on eBay they're like $40-60. What is the deal with this? Is this too good to be true? Has anyone ever bought a jersey on eBay? I saw an authentic Ovechkin jersey with the captain "C" not get bid on 4 times priced at $49.99

http://myworld.ebay....rintnownetwork/

They're definitely knock offs. There was a whole thread that lead, ultimately, to a debate about them. I have 2 now (Zetterberg white, Hossa red) and love them both. It's really just a matter of scouring and lucking out when it comes to knock offs. Some are really passable, and some look like trash - though others will argue that they're all trash.

If you can't justify dropping $200 on a Reebok EDGE sweater then I recommend going with a knock off. An 'authentic' from NHL.com or Dunham's isn't going to be much better. The major issue when it comes to Wings jerseys is the NOB, which is usually screwed up by those who make knock offs. NHL.com produces the right lettering, but on a poorly attached name plate - which the Wings obviously don't use.

I've even toyed with the idea of buying a blank knock off and having the lettering sewn on by a company like SportsK, I'd bet no one would be the wiser. Then again, though, you're spending upwards of $100 which - for a broke college student like myself - would get me murdered by my girlfriend.

Speaking as someone who did a lot of searching for the best quality knock-off I could find, you'll want to be leery of the jersey-on-the-blank-mannequin photos like the Ovechkin jersey in question. Often these images end up floating all around the internet and may not actually look anything like the jersey that specific seller might have. It's best to contact the seller in any situation where a cheap jersey is involved and request actual pictures of the jersey they're selling. If they're honest, they generally don't have a problem with them.

So to conclude my novel, if you have any other questions just pm me.

#1919957 NHL Network Free Preview

Posted by Travis on 20 March 2010 - 07:21 PM

NHL Network is offering another free preview, starting today (March 20) and running through Saturday, the 27th.

I hadn't read or heard anything about this, so I figured there had to be some others out there that hadn't, either. I apologize to anyone that this doesn't apply to, because I can't find a decent article that lists every provider that offers it. I'm watching it on DirecTV right now, though.

There's an article about it on the Dallas Morning News' website. Per the article, it's best to check with your cable provider. Fellow DirecTV subscribers (that don't regularly have it) NHL Network is channel 215.
