#2377091 3/31 GDT: Blackhawks 7 Red Wings 1

Agreed.....yet we 'had' the Hawks beat both times earlier this year. I will still take spirited hungry assbusting effort by the Wings over the Hawks in 7 games... Homer glasses removed as well.

We wouldn't take a 7 game series against Columbus.

Man Eddie O is such an idiot...all the players had their hands pointing up when Toews shot it out...it's like he's never seen the delay of game penalty one receives when they flick it over the glass. Makes the game unbearable to watch.

Swedish commentators didn't understand that either.. So useless.

#2376765 Iginla Traded to Pittsburgh

Question here... I've heard allegations of tampering in this whole situation, the complaints originating from how Crosby's camp allegedly contacted Iginla to convince him to come to Pittsburgh. Since Iginla was not a free agent and was still under contract to the Flames at the time, does that idea hold any water? Obviously, it's impossible to prove, but interesting to think about (considering how Crosby has been allowed to skirt the league's rules in the past).

Iginla confirmed it on a HNIC interview.  I'd guess it depends on how ticked off Boston is.  Jeremy Jacobs isn't exactly a guy who lets things go.

The Iginla story is 100 % the reason, why I never trust sources till its official. Flames had to ask Iginla, he used is right and said no I want to play with Pittsburgh for me personally it didn't change one bit of my mind about him, he is a class act on and off the ice and deserves his name on a cup.

Jay Feaster should know the rules regarding NMC/NTC contracts, don't confirm anything before speaking to the player and getting his ok, can't be that hard to do?

Honestly of two minds about Iginla.  I'd want him on the Wings and believe he's a class act off the ice but I wouldn't really call him one on it.

The guy has a ton of heart and is a great player, but more than once when Calgary is losing I've watched him skate around cheapshotting Wings players trying to engage them in a fight.  And it's usually top end guys who dont' fight.

When someone chases Mattheiu Schneider the length of the rink towards the end of the game, repeatedly crosschecking him in the back wanting to fight him, I have a hard time calling that player a class act.

I'm sorry, but this is just such a ridiculous statement.  Iginla was "lying"?  How would Iginla know when he submit his list of teams whether or not Pittsburgh would be interested?  He may have been more interested in Pittsburgh than Boston (obviously), but he doesn't know if that's mutual so he's going to submit more than one team.  The fact of the matter is that he had a No Move Clause in his contract which means he got the final say in where he goes.  It wasn't a limited trade clause, in which he either submits teams that he will accept a trade to or not accept a trade to point-blank.  He had control and he exercised it to give himself what he felt was his best opportunity.  The fact that inaccurate information was reported is not his fault.  It's insane that he's being pinned up as some kind of a jackass in this.  This happens all the time, it's just not usually reported as "confirmed" trades before a player nixes it.

Ok, Iginla provided a list of three "cup contenders" he would be willing to go to. Now it is the day the deal is happening, they are finalizing the last few details and a contract is ready to be signed. Iginla walks into the office and says, hey screw it, I would rather play for Pittsburgh than Boston, so nix the the deal, and rob yourself of a decent deal by taking Pittsburghs offer. Bostons GM even said he thought the deal was done, Shero was positive he lost out on Iginla, but Iginla went and screwed over the team that gave him so much over the years.

Think about it, if you were at your parents house for dinner, and your mom asks you what you want for dessert, and you say, cake, ice cream, or pie would be fine. When she brings outice cream, are you going to throw it on the floor saying you wanted pie, and leave her with a mess to clean up?

"Magically"?  If I were to submit a list right now of my top four dreams jobs in film, I might list some production companies that invest billions of dollars into projects.  The chances of them taking me aren't great, but I think a place like 20th Century Fox is a place I'd want to go.  I also include Filmways, Columbia Pictures, and Warner Independent Pictures.  All of these places would be great landing spots for me.  I hear that 20th Century Fox wants me to work for them; suddenly, I'm really excited about an opportunity that's apparently mutual.  There's nothing really "magical" about it.  Why is it such a difficult concept to grasp that submitting teams that you're interested in doesn't mean that a NMC-player is bound to that list?

Cause a deal was apparently being wrapped up between the Flames and Bruins and then Iginla walks back in the office and says, naw, I only want the Pens now.  Did you miss the part where everyone and their dog went to bed thinking Iginla was going to Boston and we all woke up to find that he was traded to Pittsburgh?  I have no problem grasping concepts at all.

You're telling me it's not a punk move to let management get so far into a deal that it's announced without telling them that's not where he wanted to go?

Guess that's what happens when the list of teams you want to go to magically goes from 4 to 1 cause this one time in the Olympics, Iginla passed Crosby the puck and then it went in the net...  I can no longer be a fan of Iginla either way now that he's a Penguin.

No, Calgary had a deal in place with Boston, Calgary thought they were trading him there and Boston thought they were getting him.  Iginla chose Pittsburgh instead, it was that simple and was communicated clearly as such straight from Calgary GM and Boston GM.

I wasn't there so I don't know, but if true, this was a real punk move on Iginla's part.  I wouldn't be surprised in the least, though. I really have no respect for the guy.  All the more reason to root for Boston now, especially when they play the Pens. (Yeah, like there wasn't reason enough already)

Calling it now, Pittsburgh gets beat in the first round of the playoffs after their swiss cheese defense gets totally exposed.

Their defense is average but Marc-Andre will s*** the bed hard, I guarantee.

Neal - Crosby - Iginla

Morrow - Malkin - Kunitz

Cooke - Sutter - Dupuis

Glass - Kennedy - Adams

Letang - Orpik

Niskanen - Martin

Despres - Murray

Even if we make the finals against PIT, we can't compete with that.... although u never know these days

The Wings' 2009 team would have been absolutely unbeatable without injuries. Anything can happen.

A lot of people said that about Chicago too after their Cup Fire Sale, and they are still hanging around OK. (surprisingly). I have a feeling the Pens will survive just fine. (Unfortunately).

They very, very nearly missed the playoffs in 2011.

I am still trying to figure out how Fleury is a weak goalie.  He has won a Stanley Cup before.  Its not like he choked against the Wings in 2009.

I don't remember another goalie ever having as bad a playoff series as he had in 2012.

Or that Crosby and Malkin are too busy having hissy fits to focus on winning games but unfortunately with Iginla there, I think that is less likely now

Will they be more likely to goon it up now when they're losing with Inginla there instead?

Hoping this turns into the Pens version of the Wings 1999 deadline deals that brough Cheli, Ulf Samuelsson, Wendel Clark, & Bill Ranford to town.

Hoping Marc-Andre will s*** his pants when it matters most in the playoffs.

I hope they get torn apart in the first round. (Again.)
