I saw it in person for the first time in '02 at local sports arena, but didn't get close enough to examine it. Then, just a few months ago, Dan MacKinnon of the Penguins brought it into a local rink and we got the chance have our pictures taken with it & inspect it closely for a couple of hours. I did NOT touch it. I was surprised to see some of the inscriptions near the top, I had never seen a high enough resolution image of it before to even know that they were there. In a few spots, they were almost completely worn away. Someday I hope to get to the HHoF to see the original & the rest of the pieces in the vault.

I was just discussing this topic the other day, and it occurred to me that while the Wings have a legitimate rivalry with both teams, the difference to me is that I at least had respect for the Avalanche. The Ducks, on the other hand, are basically a bunch of goons who get by on sheer tenacity. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but when the Wings lose to them, it always seems to me like it's more of matter of Detroit simply not working hard enough. There were times that no matter how much the Wings wanted it, Colorado was just plain better during some games. Likewise, sometimes Detroit was better. That's what made it exciting to watch - you never knew how it would end up.

Basically, the internet is the most dangerous place that doesn't physically exist. Yeah, it's probably nothing, but comments like that should be taken seriously - especially if there is any way to follow up on it.

That is absolutely fantastic.

This is not a surprise, but welcome news nevertheless. 3 consecutive 50 win seasons, and now, Lord Stanley's Cup. Now that's what I call coaching!
-
Well, this wasn't exactly a surprise, but I think he has more than earned his place in hockey history and will be remembered for many years after his playing days are over as one of the best goaltenders to ever face a shot. Thanks for the memories Mr. Hasek,

While Lilja has not been great, I've seen worse from him. Lebda has been holding his own. As much as I would like to see Chelios lace 'em up for game 6, I think that it sends the wrong message by indicating to the Pens Babcock thinks we need to make a change because he doesn't have confidence enough in the lineup as it is. IF that were the case, it might create more of a disadvantage by unnecessarily adding to the confidence they gained from the last game.

He seems solid, especially considering the way he has responded after getting thrown into the deep end of the pool like this. If he keeps this up and has a good training camp in the fall, then by all means they should make room for him.

The edge-of-your-seat intensity of an ice hockey game and the uninhibited passion displayed by both players & fans at every level of play --- from the house league at your local rink, all the way to the heights of the rafters at the Joe, hockey is the greatest game on Earth. Hockey is speed Hockey is skill Hockey is teamwork Hockey is finesse Hockey is grit Hockey is grace under fire Hockey is perseverance Hockey is pure competition Hockey is totally unpredictable Hockey is the greatest trophy in all of sports Now THAT is how the cup changes everything

LOL - That Rocks!

Helm was solid. He played with a confidence way beyond Hartigan. If he has good chemistry with Huds, then by all means Babcock should play him again.
