As for the game...Ty was great and I out we ayes well. That was the Zetterberg I know and love!

I agree - love Babcock but I always seem to question his choices for on the ice in the final moments.  It used to be Kopecky that I was screaming "why is he on the ice!!??"

Awesome... I hope I live to see something like that again with the Wings, without sacrificing winning.

Well, it'd be a pretty boring forum if all we did was slap each other on the back and toast every move made by Holland and Babcock.

But anyways... You're awesome!  Cheers!!

Considering the Wings have had by far the worst drafting position in the NHL over any time period, anything better than dead last is great.  No question the prospect pool is the strongest it has been in a long time.

Smith, Nyquist, Jarnkrok, Tatar and Pulkkinen all have performed very well as pros (against adults) already.

Smith and Nyquist are already AHL all-stars.  Tatar was the youngest player in the AHL.  Jarnkrok just finished 14th in SEL scoring (despite losing a fair amount of games to injury) and Pulkkinen recently broke Teemu Selanne's rookie scoring record in the Finnish elite league.

Jurco and Tvrdon put up a ton of points with their junior teams, while defensemen like Oullete and Sproul exploded to become all-star selections at defense (at very young ages).  Even huge, lumbering Nedomlel just tripled his scoring from last year.  Mrazek was the World Junior Championship most valuable goalie.

Then you have Sheahan and Jensen playing very well in college and defensemen like Marchenko, Backman and Almquist who could really surprise in the next couple years (my money is on Marchenko - who was made the face of Russian junior hockey and already playing in the KHL).

The prospect pool is the best it has been in 20 years, and it's exciting to keep up with their accomplishments... I'm very optimistic for the future.

Apparently a lot of teams were targeting Smith and Pulkkinen at the trade deadline.

Crosby was asked today during the Pens/Leafs game and said "Kronwall is exactly what is wrong with hockey today..  If the NHL will not do anything about it, it is up to the players.  He'll look up one day and see my fists of fury"

Actually, he gave some wishy-washy 'it could go either way' answer - I like mine better.

Total gut-check for the Wings.  Impressed with how the team stepped up and beat a team they should beat, despite a lot of excuses.

I like this team and feel optimistic for the playoffs.

But this was the Blue Jackets year!!

I remember when the trade deadline was exciting... sigh.

Parity blows.  I'd love to see at least trades for cash allowed again.

Sucks Ericsson is hurt, but it might help in the long run to give Kindl, Commodore and maybe even Smith minutes heading into the stretch.

Rather underwhelmed if this is all that happens - hoping to see Holland just setting up for something great.

Quincey isn't bad (mainly plays on the left side for Colorado, by the way), but I would rather see the first go to a forward, as I think Kindl/Commodore/Smith/Janik was plenty of depth already on D.  Makes me think/hope Holland is now wheeling a defenseman for a forward upgrade... he did get this one done pretty early.

Having Ericsson and Quincey making a combined $7m next year does not thrill me.

Datsyuk is already a lock for the Hall of Fame, IMO.
Zetterberg is more iffy, but there are worse forwards currently in.  Osgood has a chance to go up if he ever gets inducted as well.

The only reason Lidstrom has not won the Lady Byng is because Lord Byng is insecure.

Lidstrom lost an NHL fight once.  Once.
