friends, i would advise against betting him on it.  he will end up asking mods to have your posts deleted to remove the evidence.

Mods don't remove any posts unless they break the forum rules.

Baiting does break the rules.  You might want to read up on that one.

Find me any good teammate that has said, "this place sucks, get me out of here". Obviously the financial strains in the Devils won't effect Parise if they offer him the money...but they can't.

I was right about every single UFA and RFA this past summer about not signing here. Holland is predictable and has set trends. Those trends say Parise and Weber are not signing here before or during their primes. Quote me on it. Bet me on it. I want Parise and Weber here as bad as the next person, but it's just not happening.

Those "trends" are because the Wings simply haven't needed to overpay up to this point.  When Lids retires, I'd bet anything Holland will do absolutely everything he can to fix the hemorrhage.  When guys like Stuart leave, that's what the band-aids are for.

No way in hell Holland all of a sudden goes against the cornerstone of his success in his time here.  Defense first, serviceable goaltending and a strong offense: he'll stick to his proven recipe.  Meaning, guys like Suter or Weber will be signed before a guy like Parise is.  Then whatever money is left, throw at the offense.

#2259315 MAC-SANITY!

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 20 February 2012 - 12:35 PM

I don't see how you can take Joey Mac out of the net until he loses. I like Jimmy, but as Mickey would say, MAC is "hotter than a firecracker" right now. Lets ride J-MAC until he loses a game!

Yeah, what a s***ty job Babcock has night-in and night-out.  Hmm....which goaltender that can't do anything but win should I play tonight?

#2259309 Sharks May overcome your streak. Otherwise it would be a great game.

Fun Fact: Joe Thorton cries more then Cindy Crosby. Someone should re-post the picture of Mule using a light saber to cut off Joe's legs.

That animated gif was the single greatest Photoshop War win of all time.

#2257745 Blackhawks' Losing Streak: Nine Games and Counting

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 17 February 2012 - 12:21 PM

i don't think it's baseless.  if i count correctly, vancouver has 8 games remaining against teams in playoff position.  detroit has 16.

it will be a much easier road for vancouver to come out on top, but a regulation win on the 23rd would obviously help the wings' chances.

VAN only has 4 games left against teams that are 10 or more points out of the playoff picture (or bubble, if you will). The Wings have the exact same amount.  The other teams VAN will be seeing are typically close as can be in skill level to the botom 3-4 current playoff teams and will put up a dog fight night-in and night-out in an attempt to make the playoffs themselves.

Lastly, according to the remaining strength of schedule numbers for the West, the Wings have the 8th most difficult schedule to Vancouvers' 10th.  Not a huge difference there.

i wouldn't worry about the rangers.  the wings will have a hard enough time staying ahead of vancouver.  they'll end up 2nd in the west at best.

Talk about baseless pessimism.

#2247566 WC-Central Race

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 20 January 2012 - 10:10 AM

Amazing to think what's transpired in our Central division these past few weeks and its been fun to watch.  While it's hard to imagine the race will keep up at its current pace it stands to reason that 4 of our 5 divisional teams will make the postseason.

More mind-boggling is that the top 3 point-getters thus far in the West all belong to the Central.  On top of that, 4 of the top 6 point-getters in the West are all from the Central.  It's an amazing display of talent, coaching and solid-play by DET, STL, CHI & NSH.

So, prediction time.  What are your thoughts on how the division will shake out come April?  How many of the 4 teams will make the postseason?  What are your thoughts regarding the Wings division?

#2247045 Patrick Eaves injury

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 19 January 2012 - 09:47 AM

^ That really sucks.  I was just thinking about him and figured we'd be getting news soon of his return given the initial timetable that was given.

Bummer for him and the Wings, to say the least.

#2245962 UofM/NHL in Advanced Talks for Winter Classic

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 16 January 2012 - 09:39 AM

Seems to me that the League is putting their glory and numbers ahead of the chance to help the economy of Detroit.

I shouldn't even be humoring this comment, but since when is it the NHL's responsibility to help the economy of Detroit?

#2225285 Ask NFM#25 a Question

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 14 November 2011 - 09:35 AM

Why do players like Scott Hartnell go on hot streaks at will and yet world-class talents like Datsyuk and Zetterberg look lifeless?

There's a loaded question if I've ever heard one.  Every player, good and bad goes on hot/cold streaks.  I gotta think injuries and tightening-up-grips are affecting them currently.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Probably saw some food.

#2225184 Official Detroit Lions thread

Posted by NeverForgetMac25 on 13 November 2011 - 07:40 PM

Easy.  When you were born after 1985, and have several painful memories of Erik Kramer and the QB Rotato, Wannstedt, Jauron, the Dinkpass offense, several running plays right into the nearest opposing lineman for a loss, and near-to-every offensive series resulting in picks or punts.  Oh, and the stupid Buttpackers, and their fanbase which is twice as annoying as any Blackhawks fan.

Then the set up for Good Rex/Bad Rex, where he would lead the league in TD and yards, then throw 4 INTs and fumble twice.  Get to the Superbowl and not win, couple that with the questionable personnel moves by Jerry Angelo over the last number of years, the up and down of the team, etc, etc.  And most recently, the Offensive line jacking around while Cutler runs for his life and can't complete plays, while Martz keeps calling plays like a 14 year old playing Madden.

But given today's game, I wonder if the questions begin for Good Matt/Bad Matt.  After all:

Both got injured in their first 2 years in the league, had to sit out.

Both can throw 90 miles away

AND both were looked at, at the time, as the saviors of their team, QB-wise.

Wah, wah, wah....8-0.
