#2221898 Commodore to play tonight

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 03 November 2011 - 12:27 PM

It should be Stuart or Ericsson out, not Kindl.

I agree. Kindl to me has looked fairly well. and certainly better then stu or e-rock to me.

#2218917 Jimmy Howard will miss Tuesday's Game

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 27 October 2011 - 09:07 AM

Thus time?

You know, back in the day, they didn't even allow the father in the delivery room (fear of germs). He sat out in the waiting room until a nurse came out and informed him "boy" or "girl".

Grammas came to stay for weeks to help out with the new baby and any other kids so that the new mom could get some sleep and there would be someone around the house to cook and clean and do laundry whilst the new mom was recovering.

Fast forward to this century: Dads take care of kids of all ages, including babies, and do housework. Due to this, they have to take some time off of work to do these things.

40 or more years ago, I'd have wondered why he took time off. Today, it's just part of the expected game plan.

Good heaven, Beth! You can fit a LEMON in there!?!?!?!?!

j/k. Your post made me laugh and your point about Rachel needing him around to help is spot on.

This is the truth for sure. I have 4 kids. I work from home. My wife does a lot but I do to. I help cook, clean, change diapers, give baths, help with school work, feed, play with, put to bed and so on. It can be a full time job in itself. I'm also a remote employee working from home. So I'm here all the time. It's not like it use to be when Dad went to work and mom stayed home only taking care of the house and the kids. My wife has a catering business so shes cooking all the time and dealing with that. But the thing with me is. I want to do all those things for my wife and kids. I want to experience everything. Don't want to miss a thing.

So I'm all for Howard missing some games to be with his family. Family is first.

#2217855 I went to school with Abdelkader. Nice guy.

i saw babcock at the lions game today. i complimented him on the new 5 on 3 power play. he completely blew me off.

to his credit, i waas incredibly drunk.

So you don't think it had anything to do with you trying to show him new line combos the 5 other days before? ...=)...i had to Blue...all in good fun. DON'T CHANGE..YOU BE YOU.=)

#2215044 Asham KOs Beagle

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 14 October 2011 - 09:50 AM

Just to play a bit of the devils advocate, I have to say when Domi use to do his gestures if I remember right, the league and the fans on avg didn't mind it and some even loved it. So I'm not sure what has really changed. Maybe it was because Beagle got hurt on it?

And just so everyone knows...I didn't like it myself.

Why? Simply because he knocked Beagle back to third grade?

Last I checked, that type of fight isn't what wins the Stanley Cup.

Doesn't really win cups but...it can have an effect on the fans and players. So maybe in a strange way it can somewhat help? =)

#2213944 Bouchard suspended 2 games

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 10 October 2011 - 02:33 PM

2 games? Sounds fair. That guy is going to have fake teeth for the rest of his life because some idiot decided it would be a good idea to cross check him in the mouth. I thought Shanny describes the suspension perfectly, seems cut and dry.

Do I need to watch the video longer? I didn't see the cross check.

#2213925 Hudler?

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 10 October 2011 - 01:16 PM

Just for you Eva
2011-2012 Power Rankings: Week 2
RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT
1 (8) Red Wings 2-0-0 A super start by the perennial contenders. Jiri Hudler is looking like a solid bet to have a career season this year.
=)

I don't think we can tell just by 2 games besides if he keeps playing like he has or better...why would you want to trade him?

#2213902 Bouchard suspended 2 games

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 10 October 2011 - 11:30 AM

This is awful, in my opinion. Give him a 4 minute penalty, 2 games for this is way overboard. I don't think it was reckless by Bouchard, I think they were just jostling and chopping at each other and Calvert's stick lift made Bouchard hit him up high unintentionally.

This right here.

Should not have been suspended at all. That was way to much.

And as far as the Foote one...thats another one that shouldn't be if that were today. Foote was going for the stick and missed.

#2213900 Best One-Two Punch?

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 10 October 2011 - 11:26 AM

Hudler and Hudler.

esteef

"one not to be named" approves of this.

As much as I hate ferry perry i have to agree the getz-ferry is awesome combo...but if we could have dats-z when they were first together there is no better combo. You see glimmers of that like the other night. But how many times did you see dats or z passing to each other not even looking but just feeling/knowing where the other was and one of them scores....was awesome.

#2210927 Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 30 September 2011 - 01:03 PM

This board is freakin amazing. One day Shanny is the hero laying down the law then the next he is a villain and hurting the game.

where is that? who is saying shanny is a villain and hurting the game. If there is 1 or 2 people that said it ok...but the whole board?

#2210856 Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 30 September 2011 - 11:19 AM

I'm not sold on those situations being too similar. Brendan Smith is no Vladdy. And Ben Smith is no Claude.

Also, how is a 6 foot 2 defensemen supposed to get low enough on a 5 foot 10 inch forward to upend him like that?

Smith didn't really play it that wrong, it was an unfortunate incident, but Ben Smith put himself in the position for his head to get hit, instead of just taking the initial check which would have been body on body.

I always enjoy that video, though.

I don't know if it's just my hillbilly eyes or what but i'm just not really seeing how it's Ben Smiths fault. much as i love my wings and Brendan...i just don't see it. 6'2 - 5'10 is not that far off from each other. If Brendan can't get down low enough to make a cleaner check and to make sure it doesn't hit Ben's head then he has some serious back issues. But thats just what I see and think. I may be totally wrong.

#2210847 Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 30 September 2011 - 11:07 AM

Ben didn't headbutt his shoulder. Brendan threw a high risk hit and missed, only clipping the head. Now he's getting punished for it.

Here's the way it should be done.

This hit gives me chills everytime i see it. :yowza:

I can see it now... come postseason guys who are not top 6 forwards sticking their heads out to take hits to get star players suspended. We all know its going to happen.

To me ben smith really didn't move his head just so it could get hit. I think if players start doing that shanny and company will be able to tell for sure on those.

#2210708 The Official NHL Suspension Thread

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 29 September 2011 - 09:40 PM

Maybe you would sign up for that, but that isn't what NHL players are signing up for. I'd like to think NHL players have more respect for fellow humans that that.

wha???? Have you never seen video from when Howe played and his damn elbows?..Billy Smith...Eddie Shore....heck even Mark Messier was mean.

Didn't call him "Terrible" Ted Lindsay for the flowers he would pass out to the other team=)

#2210704 Fabian Brunnstrom

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 29 September 2011 - 09:37 PM

Pardon my french;

I love Miller, but how in the Sam Bernstein f*** could someone neg you for that post?

We have a neg bandit around here doing it. I fixed it up while im sure i will get the neg on mine for doing so like earlier today...oh well.=)

But The way brunn has looked really good in the preseason and i hope they give him a shot.

And Heaten just to be a man about it I just read today that Ian is in no way a replacement for raff and that Kronwall is stepping up to the next level and that would be more of a replacement for raff it was quoted but i can;t remember who said it. So there you go.=)
