I can name quite a few fanbases, including plenty of names, that do hate us. They all just mad that we got all da Cups
Well, I know for a fact a bunch of current and former Blues players can't stand the Red Wings. I assume it's the same in many other cities. But that's nothing compared to the various fanbases that hate the Red Wings.
The hatred has nothing (or at least very little) to do with the number of cups the Wings have won...at least as far as I am concerned. For me, it is a combination of certain players I don't like, incidents that have happened in the past (reg. season and playoffs), and past inabilities to get past Detroit in the playoffs, finishing behind them in the standings, etc.
I hate the Canucks...can't stand 'em...do they have any cups? Nope. I can't stand the Sharks either... no cups. I actually enjoy the Penguins...and they have a handful of cups. No hatred there from me. I don't dislike the Canadiens...kind of impartial to them really, and they seemingly have 14,000 cups.
The number of cups a team has, has little to do with whether I hate them or not. It's really all about particular players, specific incidents, etc.

Aside from the obvious Lidstrom, Datsyuk is the only one that I see having a shot at making it to the rafters. If he continues his dominance, adds another championship to his resume and finishes his career with the Wings, it's a no brainer.
If you look at the fact that the likes of Osgood, Draper and even Holmstrom who have been major factors to the Wings success over the last 2 decades, it doesn't bode well for Z, Franzen or Kronwall, who will likely be Wings for life with success in Detroit.
Retiring jersey's is something sacred, I don't think teams need 20 jersey's retired like the Habs do. It should be for the organizational greats.
I'm fine with Versus/NBC. I find myself watching ESPN less and less every year. When I want hockey highlights I go to the NHL network, likewise for the NFL. With the different leagues having their own channels ESPN becomes less relevant all the time.
Congrats to the NHL for getting a more lucrative TV deal.
