#2105203 Ducks Sued for Anti-Semitism by Former Draft Pick

Posted by Hockeytown0001 on 25 January 2011 - 10:28 PM

You have to be kidding me on this one. I doubt very much that anyone in that organization would say anything like that to him that was all that bad. I'm sure he got worse ribbing in school for Christsake. Looks to me that he realizes he isn't good enough to keep this hockey thing going, so he better get as muxh as he can out of it right now.

I wouldn't go that far. There are people who will scream racism or what have you if you so much as look at them wrong, this doesn't sound like one of those instances. From the story -

In the suit, filed today in Orange County Superior Court, Bailey claims the head coach of the Condors told him "[Jews] only care about money and who's who" and that he "never wanted his son to be raised Jewish or to wear a Yarmulke."

OH DEAR GOD.

I honestly had no idea.

I've always liked Nickleback's music, but if Chad Kroeger hangs out with Kid Rock and attends Wings games, who can argue with that?

#2104410 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by Hockeytown0001 on 24 January 2011 - 03:33 PM

Given the situation that all parties have found themselves in, the rational thing for Nabokov to do is to stay home for another week or two, make the Isles management believe that he is serious about not reporting. Then if they don't relent, and if the case goes to the league for arbitration, he might as well report to the Isles, play for the 2 months or less, then be a FA for the next season. It's not worth it to anyone to risk that the league would roll over his contract to the next year, and he would actually have to play for NYI for a whole year.
So for now we can all be spectators in a competitive game of chicken b/w Nabokov and Snow/Wang.

If that were to happen, then here would be Wang's reaction come July 1 -

"Our goaltender Evgeni Nabokov, just informed us he intends to test the free agent waters and doesn't plan on re-signing with us. I don't understand it. Why wouldn't he want to re-sign with us?"

#2104363 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by Hockeytown0001 on 24 January 2011 - 02:25 PM

I cant stand the smugness of snow or wang. They seem like a couple assholes who know there f***ed so choose to ruin not only the Wings shot at a good goalie but more importantly the dreams of an actually human being. Kudos f***face (x2)

Basically what Wang is saying -

"He wanted to go to the powerhouse Red Wings for a chance to win the Stanley Cup, but we, the doormat of the East, claim him and he isn't thrilled about it. The f*ck's wrong with him for not wanting to play with us?"

#2104285 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Nabokov: Isle Stay Home - NYPost:

"...It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. And I hope they understand that."
Well, the Islanders don't. Not even in the slightest.

"Why wouldn't he show up? I'm still expecting him," Islanders owner Charles Wang said of Nabokov in a rare press conference yesterday afternoon before the Isles' 5-3 loss to the Sabres at Nassau Coliseum. "Flights are booked. If you go into the locker room, the locker stall is prepared, his uniform is prepared. If you look at the notes for [yesterday's] game, his name is on it."

Now, if he sticks with his decision to not report to the Islanders, he will be forced to sit out the remainder of the NHL season.

"Here is somebody the Islanders want that wants to play [and] has a contract with the NHL," Wang said. "So, we're waiting for him and looking forward to having him."

Over the previous two days, both Wang and Islanders general manager Garth Snow have said they left messages for Nabokov. According to what the goalie said to ESPN.com, those messages never were received.

"He may have tried to reach me but there's no message from him," Nabokov said of Snow. "I still haven't talked to him."

Snow said yesterday that everything was "status quo," meaning he is still expecting Nabokov to show up. Nabokov's agent, Don Meehan, was unavailable for comment last night.

"I dont see why somebody who has this opportunity would not want to play and fulfill his contract," Wang said. "It's nuts, right? I don't understand any of it."

Wang is even dumber than I thought.

#2103713 Let's Talk About the Refereeing

Posted by Hockeytown0001 on 22 January 2011 - 09:57 PM

Reffing didn't lose us this game, poor play did. if you honestly think the refs lost the game for us, then I don't know what to tell you...

I know. I'm not blaming the officiating for a Wings loss like I did when I was 11.

The NHL officiating is a joke, period. Another perfect example is Los Angeles getting boned on the obvious high-sticking goal. The bad part is that they aren't held accountable for their actions, and anyone who questions them is punished.

#2103263 1/22 GDT: Blackhawks 4 at Red Wings 1

I love how they immediately signal goal off of the crossbar, but immediately waive off a goal for Detroit.
