#2127315 Boston Vs. Habs

Should be a good one. In other NHL news, Florida leads Chicago 2-0.

In other news, "Two and a Half Men" will now be called "Two Men".

What if Leighton wasn't a sieve?

#2127020 mccrimmon

Who knows who the cause of the defensive struggles are without lockerroom access? It could be Babs, McCrimmon, the players, all the above, etc. We may likely never know.
However, as defensive coordinator, McCrimmon has proven that he isn't part of the solution. I want a coach in Detroit who can take prerogative and come up with innovative and effective solutions. I haven't seen any of that in a couple years.

#2126738 Jimmy Howard watch thread

And when the team decides to suck, Howard's numbers suffer.

No - our defense has been pretty inconsistent for quite a long time.

That said - it's not entirely the coaching staff's fault; much of it IMHO lies with whom we have back there...If the player is clueless, or just plain sucks - well sometimes no matter what the coaches do they'll still suck.

McCrimmon though is part of the problem - that I will admit.

As another poster said, it's been inconsistent ever since McCrimmon took over.

Howard needs to be better. The defense needs to be better.

I find it hard to believe too, also because McCrimmon played a very smart defensive game as a player and is often credited by Lidstrom as a great mentor when he first broke into the league.

But the Wings literally went from years of great defensive hockey to years of lackluster defensive hockey almost over night between the 08 and 09 seasons... Coinciding perfectly with McCrimmon's hire. Hard to ignore that.

It bothers me that nobody has addressed that.

I'm still kind of in shock that we blew that lead. Why this team can't hold a lead is beyond me.

Ever since McCrimmon took over.

Bulls***. How many more leads need to evaporate before McCrimmon is gone?

I want the 2008 defense back

In short, NHL officiating is a joke.

#2126407 3/5 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 5 (SO)

because Howard was way outta his crease and the Phx player already had that part of the ice.

Yet whenever a goaltender comes way out of his crease and bumps Holmstrom, it's ruled goalie interference.
