Wow people crack me up... Babcock haters, it's really easy to look back and say he shoulda, woulda, coulda. Hindsight is 20/20. The way you people talk it's like we don't have the most successful sports team over the last 15 years, let alone hockey team. You make it sound like had Babcock only listened to you we'd have 3 more cups. Get over yourselves. When are you going to sit back and realize that although not without mistake, these guys know what they are doing and they are right far more often than they are wrong. It you could do it better you'd be coaching. It's one thing to disagree but your personally attacking Babcock.

I am glad to see Ozzie in for one reason, must mean that Babs has faith in him again. It's only a good thing going forward. Having two very capable goalies is better than one.

If Modano is able to return and is healthy, I don't think we need to make a move. Maybe unloading Hudler if his play has not improved but then the question becomes what could you really get in return?

Heaven forbid someone inconveniences you with their grammar and spelling. I am pretty sure no where in the forum rules does it say that only those with solid writing skills are allowed to post.

I was confused, I thought long and hard about whom you might be referring to... the only answer was Bertuzzi... and no he doesn't. Well maybe he does as a true enforcer but not overall.

The PP is a clever reference. My answer would be wins are what matters we have 3 or those and one OT loss, we have time to work everything out.

To clarify, I don't question said negative posters "fandom". They take the time to be here and watch the games so they must be fans. And everyone is entitled to their opinion on this or any other topic.

I guess it does boil down to the sky is falling mentality. I see enough of that on the news everyday. There aren't a lot of things we can count on these days, I guess I have always considered the Wings something I can count on. For my entire hockey watching life they have been consistently competitive and entertaining.

As I scan the threads started in the last two games I see the following topics, "Osgood and Draper... turn the page", Lidstrom Final Year, with such replies as how slow he is, how he turns over the puck, how his offense is terrible. There's also "We need a goalie...Osgood is done, and my personal favorite and probably the most laughable, "Is Zetterberg on the decline?"

Yes I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and yes last night was an abysmal outing by our winged warriors, Osgood let in four goals on 11 shots and yes he seems to be a step slower but two were not what I would call "bad" goals to give up. The Wings were giving up odd man rushes and we couldn't sustain any offensive pressure. It appears we have been hit with the injury bug again  Abbey, Rafalski, Franzen, and now Cleary are all out.

The part that I don't understand is the first half of this season, (yes two games ago) this team was playing so well that everyone thought the cup was on its way back. I know a lot can happen in half a season, (two more games) but it seems to me that the fall from grace was fast and hard.

These are the same Detroit Red Wings that have the longest playoff streak in pro-sports history, these are the Red Wings whose idea of a terrible season is a first round exit, they have the same coach that was "the best in the NHL" a week ago, they have the same 40yr old graying leader that the city and press alike were begging to return. We have the same two forwards ESPN and Sporting News rated in the top 15 league wide. As for our goaltending, we have an aging backup who was praised for his first start this year, hell the idea of a 50/50 split was even being tossed around, and a rookie starter whom was a Calder runner up last year and has already posted a convincing shutout this season. Come on people the Lions would kill for this measuring stick.

Now this is not to say that there aren't things to criticize about the team thus far, but the Red Wings have proven season in and season out that they know how to win, they always find a way to generate some kind of success...I understand why the press prints these headlines, it's polarizing and sells newspapers, I just don't get it from the fans.


This team deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Players are stronger, faster, and in better shape than back then, the speed of the game has increased thus increasing the speed at which players are hit and the chance for injury.

I also don't think most of those are illegal.

Can't we leave the goalie controversy for mid-season, it's game 4! Last year everyone complained about Ozzie not getting a chance to start. If we end up rotating goalies all that means is they are both playing well and that's a great thing for us.

Pretty classless move by Wisniewski.  He seems like a pretty big ******, anyway.

Actually from what I hear he is a class act. He spent a couple of hours this summer with a youth hockey team in Canton telling them all about playing in the NHL. (He didn't include gestures!)I love how people jump all over him for this, like you have never said something in anger that was off color. f*** I say s*** like that all the god damn time.

Removing homer glasses for a minute, I can see how you wouldn't call it a "win" and maybe a draw, but then you factor in that Perry is supposed to be tougher than Dats, and if you are forced to pick a winner ou have to give the edge to Dats. Was it a beat down, no... But did Dats have the edge in a fight he should have been out classed in? ( this guy won the Lady Byng 3 times!)  Absolutely! Those facts make it a win for Dats!

I'm so glad he got his first goal so quickly. No case of nerves for this guy!

First goal on first shift and first shot, doesn't get any better.... Except that is was a beautiful one too! No garbage goals here.
