I was pretty much a regular on the Yahoo boards back then, and found this site somewhere near the trade deadline. My first post was probably lamenting that we didn't get Kasparitis (and that he went to the Avs)...and we ended up with Jiri Slegr. LOL! For the curious, here's a glimpse at what the site looked like, almost to the day, in 2002. Hard to believe we had just played Game 4 of the WCF. Interesting little headline: "Prospect Zetterberg signs 3 year deal". That signing sure made up for losing Yuri Butsayev in that Slegr trade.

Went to our local ECHL team's game Friday night, and while they repaired the glass during a stoppage in play, this video was shown on the scoreboard to keep everyone entertained. Although not technically a commercial, this is one of the greatest advertisements for hockey I've seen. It's long but worth it. Am I the only one who was secretly hoping during the playoffs that a few of the Wings happened to be watching "Youngblood" during one of its many airings on Versus, and would be inspired by Youngblood taking on the mean and nasty Carl Racki? I'd love to see Chris Neil in a Winged Wheel sweater, but I don't think it'll happen any time soon. Out of the list of UFAs, Asham looks like the one who could contribute across the board. I also wouldn't mind seeing Kenny taking a flyer on either of the Brookbank brothers, in particular Sheldon.

Best regular season game in NHL history! I still don't know to this day, though, why Bowman would throw Mike Knuble into 1st NHL game here, and scratch Joey Kocur. Those of us not in the Detroit area got to see the game on ESPN2, with Gary Thorne (and his dull and stoic "this...had...to...happen") and Brian Engblom.
